You come from a JRPG background. Looks are much more restricted on those. Since you're already accostumed, you don't see the loss the same way people who's been playing western RPGs mostly do.

He might be one of those deviants that thinks a unique apperance is superior to a generic one. You know, the difference between DA2 and DA:O.

Aimo post her art in deviantart, so I'll pretend deviant is a awesome thing.

When you look at it, the plot of Mass effect is: "Gather these people, go to the final dungeon". It lacks a second act after gathering the people.

Thank God DA:O didn't do the exact same thing, but for an extra 30 hours.

I think that's because it is the second act, the dungeon being me3.

Given that Xewaka knew that Dhiro came from a JRPG background, and responded accordingly...
I doubt it.

Fair play to you, though, sir - you are very much one of those deviants!

It is one thing to pit one unique against one generic, and another to pit one unique agaisnt half a dozen generics. But that argument has already been discussed.
At least I'm glad some companions have the sense to actually wear some proper equipment. Aveline's different suits of armor are nice.

Depends on the context.

I believe party members, while they may be key to the plot, shouldn't be the only foundation of it. You're free to disagree.

I think unique is good, too, but unique that I can change is better.  If we'll still be able to mod, all will be well and all manner of things will be well.

I actually think this is a good idea, as I have since it was unvelied in the podcast a few months back. No longer can I fit the Legion of the Dead armor onto Sten, nor can I remove a suit of armor from Zevran and have it fit perfectly onto Alistair. They're not quite the same height.

This way, everyone has one type of armor, and that armor is sized perfectly for them. I like it.

...Now that I think about it, only Aveline and (maybe) Hawke have armor. Isabela, no-armor (or pants). Varric, no armor. "Anders" and Merrill... well, robes. Fenris clothes don't look like armor to me, what do you think?

Lol, no kidding. Isabela's outfit might be nice and pirate-y, but in terms of a companion, she might want to gear up. I hope she at least gets leather armour in later time periods.

Beth and Carver have yet to be shown in any form of "advanced plot" shot.
Fenris seems to wear a chest plate and armguards in this shot.

I have to say... the more I read about Dragon Age 2, the more I feel like I should treat it like a JRPG.

Your point being guys?

King Maric went through the Deep Roads wearing a shirt and pants in Stolen Throne if I remember correctly. And if it wasn't the Deep Roads, I distinctly remember him fighting quite a few dudes in plain clothes.

So if Maric, who wasn't exactly renowned for his fighting prowess at the time can do it, then so can Isabella, a master duelist who's fighting style actually revolves around not getting hit.

I don't mind there being armors that fit only them, but I dislike not being able to chose their armors and find new ones to use if I prefer them. It removes a part of the game that I enjoyed. And it also prevents my PC from telling Isabella that we aren't going anywhere until she puts some pants on. Although I haven't seen any armor that I actually like much for DA2. (I had no real issues with the armors for DA:), except for the light armors, and like some of the massive armor a lot.) Still, they took something away that I liked. And the pants thing...kind of important. ;)

I disliked companions looking horrible in half the equipment I gave them back in Origins.

EDIT: Ooh, and I never gave Morrigan anything else to wear than her special robes.

I think you're all some kind of deviated preverts. I think Dhiro found out about your prevertion, and you were organizing some kind of mutiny of preverts.

I wish to know the extent to which the companions outfit can be upgraded. I mean if we can put different stats on them that could add up to stats on the armors in origins then I don't see a problem with it. All speculation on my part though.

Maric, Loghain, and the elf were also on the run and actively avoiding combat, while Isabela voluntarily wades into melee combat against a multitude of opponents. In fact, I'd expect her to value more the utility of a light padded jacket, a wide-brimmed hat, and a blade-catching cape, considering she calls herself "duelist".

Isabela's upgrade armor must be a Red Mage one!
