The problem being that you might like a particular outfit, but the next person might think it's skanky and ridiculous. I'm not naming any names.RosaAquafire wrote...
I'm going to comment to every sing;e thread about this change saying that I enjoy it.
Morrigan was the only character in DA:O who looked distinct. I like characters having interesting clothing that suit their designs, and unique body models that suit their personalities and faces. I like it about a million times more than the "option" to put a rogue in one of 50 near-identical hideous leather skirts.

I believe party members, while they may be key to the plot, shouldn't be the only foundation of it. You're free to disagree.
No, I agree. I just think DA:O also failed re: the main plot.

Obviously, my friends are not fashionable so they need help.

::shrug:: The loss of that kind of customization really doesn't bother me. For one thing, in DA:O the majority of the so-called "customization" was just slight color changes to the the light/medium/heavy/massive armor set. Getting rid of that to maybe give companions a single outfit that is more detailed and better-looking sounds like a fair trade-off to me.
This argument always makes me this of this comic.
I honestly don't mind losing the option to change my companions armor.
My problem is with those companions that don't wear armor.

Concerning this, none of your party members were key to the plot. You could kill off and exile a bunch of them and go through the game on the merit of your man musk if you felt so inclined.
@ Angelic ~ Kudos to you my friend.

You might also think that the ugliest, most unappealing unique outfit is superior to any generic one, i.e. be basing your choice on whether the apperance is unique and not good.

In DA:O, you didn't collect useless characters. You collected useless armies, whose only role was to keep the darkspawn busy. An entire human army would have been just as good as an army of ever race in Thedas, includ any undiscovered races we do not yet know about.
DA:O basically had Ostgar - Recruit - Endgame, which is to say you could collapse the middle of the game to 9 hours and not lose any plot, just worldbuilding.

I dunno man, Sten was pretty useless in the long run. All he ever did was complain at the campfire in my file. But that was the beauty of it, I coulda made him leave, or I coulda had him tag along...and complain in my party...DANGIT STEN CHEER UP.
But I disagree about the army thing. If the army wasn't there, who's gonna play clean up when the Archdemon is gone? The two Grey Wardens and their ragtag team of buddies. Naw man, the army. Or are you just referring to the actual game itself and you can just do the Redcliffe quest and still beat the game no problem? I never tried that.

No - what I am saying is that, technically, we never know the size of the darkspawn or the 'allied' army. With the plot as is, we could have expanded DA:O to include Orlais or Antiva or condensed it to just the human lands and the landsmeet. Either sized army could have served in an alternate reality DA:O, because the composition of the army doesn't really matter.
I am not saying an army was irrelevant. I am saying rather that the composition of the army was not relevant to the plot - it was just a vehicle for combating the darkpspawn. The writers could have added or removed recruitment missions without changin the actual narrative.

isabela/varrick/sebastian - no need to use heavy armor (imagine ezio in brotherhood)
aveline/carver/fenris - 2 of them use heavy armor, fenris well no clue
bethany/merill/*anders*- they are mages ffs

Though that's because the game doesn't let you get to the endgame without all of the armies-- since all the possible troops are there you can't fail to bring enough. Unlike, obviously, ME2, which lets you botch the force building if you want to. Still not a great design, since there's no tradeoff unless you deliberately jump to the IFF mission early.

On the bright side, now each person's outfit can be custom tailored to match their personality. No more silly mage hats, for example.

I always put Morri in the best available mage robes.

If you can get the same kind of stat increases and stuff from an enchantment/upgrade system, I really don't mind if they only have a couple armors that they switch between throughout the story. Because honestly, even in Origins there weren't a whole lot of choices anyway.
Yes, the lack of customization isn't the greatest, but nowadays my gaming time is more valuable than it was when I was in high school or college because now I have work and fiancee to occupy my days. So if I am able to spend less time equipping my part and more time playing the game, that's a plus in my book.

I personally think the coolest thing, which most likely won't be in the game, or in any game for that matter lol. Would be that whenever your party is chilling in camp or wherever the rest place is, they switch to casual outfits. A small touch, but would be awesome to see for me. One day...T_T
ME1 did that when you were just chilling on the normandy, though Kaidan and Ash were in their alliance uniforms rather than casual stuff, Wrex and Garrus both considered "casual" to encompass forms of armour.
or were you talking specifically about seeing that happen in a fantasy game?
