I don't think religion should be brought into the game in that sense. what you believe is you busyness and the game should be a fairly secular experience.

Yes, I meant that, in fact Shepard's soul 'sleeping' fits with Buddhism too. I don't belong to a religion in particular, but I studied a bit of them all (I like reading). I remember that Buddhists belive that between a reincarnation and another (when you're not yet illuminated but still in the Samsara, the material dimension) your soul can wander for some time in the oblivion until you don't enter another body.
It fits with Christianity too, following what I said before.
Than anyone can give a different interpretation to what happened to Shep in those two years, accordin to his own belief and sensibility. You can also think that he/she wasn't dead but just hybernated...;)

Teehee... that's not what the 3 great faiths say about death. Death in Christianity, Judaism and Islam is centralized around something called the Resurrection. These faiths acknowledge the required symbiosis behind soul AND body in order for sentience to be experienced. forgotten. As well their love, as their hatred and their envy, is
perished long ago; neither have they any more a portion for ever in
anything that is done under the sun” (9:5,6 – ASV).

You are DEAD or as others call it "sleeping".

The afterlife is literally a physical rebirth where you are given a new PERFECT physical body.

Nobody who is raised correctly in these faiths who have actually read their religious texts believes in an ETHERAL afterlife. All that garbage came after Plato started basterdizing Christian values when he had a problem with the "waiting period" between death and the afterlife.

As an aside, I made my canon Shep (female) ambiguous but tolerant. I don't feel comfortable making a murdering consequentialistic soldier theistic.



It just violates the philosophy of being a believer. People who really believe, don't do things like Shepard does.
