Why didn't anyone tell me that Garrus and Tali could dual-wield pistols in ME1?

And again, Dark Horse can't draw Mass Effect aliens...

Awesome comic, though. Works nicely as a recap.

Actually I thought the comic kind of sucked, it missing a lot of content, as opposed to if you'd have played ME1. But I guess somethings better than nothing. :?

I agree, nothing can replace actually playing the game, but in the case of PS3 players this is about as good as it can get without playing the game.

Also, now that I watched it again, I don't like it as much.  Maybe it is different if people chose renegade options but since the reviewer chose the Paragon options, it seems as if they were trying to justify Shepards actions (meaning the narration in the comic).  Which is good but if you choose the renegade options, does it do the same thing (saying you chose renegade options because it is the right thing to do) or is Shepard portrayed as an ass?

Example, Saving the council.  In the game the player can decide (in his or her mind) if they let the council die, is it because you need to save your own fleet to focus on Sovereign or are you someone who believes in human dominance and wants humans in charge of galactic politics and see sacrificing the council as the best way to achieve that?

PS3 players will have the mindset and reasoning for the actions predetermined.  I am nitpicking here and I know it but that is just something that PS3 players will miss out on.

watching te comic it seems like it would be easier for ps3 players to kill wrex as they don't go as deep into his character as if you played ME1. then again they also don't have to find his grandads armor to save him.

Ok, so... what was the bloody point of Sovereign going to the Citadel now, then?
How does Shepard get to be a Spectre out of the blue? What's a Spectre, btw?
Or, how are the Reapers suppose to immediately cause havoc and gain immediate knowledge of all of the spacefaring organics planets' locations by emerging from Dark Space directly onto the Citadel if they can't do that now?
Oh sorry, I mean all organic species. Even tho doing that means there wouldn't be a bloody spacefaring organic species to reap 50,000 afterwards. Probably not even unicellular organisms. Evolution fail. To be expected from a crappy comic book, but not BioWare.
And how can one Spectre have the power to decide who gets a seat on the bloody Council?
And now Shepard magically knows Prothean and doesn't need a Cypher? Awesome... not.

Is it me, or are there too many retcons to the point it seems there are two MassEffect 1's?
More to the point, the believability and depth of Mass1 were thrown out of the window like they never existed and instead we get... a 100% typical comic book plot. Using a graphical novel approach? I was fine with. Using a typical shallow western comic book plot/script? Seriously? That's what Mass1's story, characters, believability and depth are worth now?

Bioware, I seriously am disappoint.

That comic was awful. The opening few coments from Shep were crap. It was a routine mission, they always say its a routine mission thats how it always starts. What cheesy saturday morning cartoon trite.

I hope Garrus can dual wield in ME3. He's 10x cooler now.

I wanna bet Master Chief from the Halo series is actually Garrus.

Hell now I want an option for my Infiltrator in ME3 to choose between SMG or dual wielding pistols, with an option to upgrading to dual wielding SMG pistols.

YES PLEASE!

There better be a part in ME3 where Grunt is dual-wielding two Revenant LMG's as well just for the Rambo factor.

The comic was well done and explained events in a concise manner.. sadly, it does nothing to capture the most important parts of Mass Effect... the characters. We don't get a sense of what Liara, Ash, Kaidan, Garrus, Tali, Wrex, etc etc were like, the type of relationship Shep forges with them, etc.

For explaining the plot, the comic gets an A... for capturing any sense of atmosphere, mood and the supporting characters (or shepard him/herself), it fails.

All said and done, they did a decent job considering the awkward position they were in with being unable to bring ME1 to ps3.

(oh.. and if anyone hasn't played ME1 and wants to watch a story-focused playthrough to get a proper sense of the game, visit the link in my sig).

:crying:

:pinched:WoW just wow, that was beyond lame.I mean ive read Dark Horse comics before. They always go into alot of exposition,to portray the characters, the emotion, they environment, the mood. This just seems like a rough sketch. It just skimmed trough major parts of the game.(i mean even the art wasnt as good compared to other ME stuff from them)

Honestly i was even hoping, they would make it available for download to all consumers.Just cause ME1 and ME2 have such a different tone,i just wanna hop into 2 sometimes. But with this you might as well just use Gibbed.

I mean if your gonna recap ME1,try to recapture the atmosphere and plot progression at least a little bit.Eden Prime was "sortof"'' OK.Citadel had a plot, but no presentation whatsoever.Therrum doesnt exist,no mention of the Geth,Noveria, damn you dont even get an impression its an ice world. And somehow Benezia is waiting for you at the docks.

Even to this day MEs strongest characteristic,is the atmosphere and presentation. If you wont do it thought music, still images and ingame dialog from major scenes.Than why bother doing it at all.Nobody watching this will get an accurate sence of ME1.And the whole point of doing something like this is to connect the audience with those characters and those events. So when you meet them,or hear of them in ME2,or see the repercussions they'll mean something.

Heck even a wiki or a short ME retrospective did a better job than this.Youve seen the retospectives on the TOR site.10000 times better. So i know they can do it right. Why not even a small attept.

Edit.LOL at the romance scenes. So corny and distastful. And so much time spent for something so optional and irrelevant.

Edit2  Would anyone actually care for either Wrex,Ash or Kaiden.Just watching this i could kill them all no prob.

Wow, that comic sucks. Half the characters are barely recognisable, and there's no sense of atmosphere whatsoever. I was going to get the comic when it came out on PC, if only to try out different Shepards on ME2, but now? I'll just play ME1 again, thanks.

I think the Citadel being a mass relay is the whole reason Sovereign was glomping that giant spire. I think. I hope.

citadel mass relay = linking to dark space

no link to dark space = no surprise reaper invasion

So, after having watched the comic, I have a few questions.

1) Why does Wrex look like Chancelor Palpatine?

2) Why does (male) Shepard have a picture of Kaidan smiling on his desk after saving him on Virmire? Bromance?

Overall, I have to wonder what the point of this comic was? It doesn't give someone who hasn't played ME1 either enough backstory or even the correct backstory, nor are the characters or decisions fleshed out enough to make them meaningful (why should I save Wrex? why should I let the Rachni Queen live? etc). And many decisions weren't covered which could potentially have major repercussions in ME3 (letting Fist live, sparing Shiala, completing the Keeper study, etc). Basically, it's only useful for people who've already played ME1 and simply want a quick tool to make an ME2 import file, in which case why not simply release a checklist of every importable option ala Gibbed's Save Editor and leave out all the tedious and inaccurate exposition?

Well, my first reaction to the comic...

... Oh look, FemShep never existed.  What a shock.  Posted Image

Seriously, it's like Bioware are ashamed of her or something.

Other than that...

The artworks isn't too bad, i've seen much better, but then i've seen worse so it'll do for what it's supposed to do.

However, when it comes to what it's supposed to do, the comic itself is a bit lacking. It gives you these choices to make but doesn't instill any emotional context for making them.  Anyone that hasn't played ME1 ( who are the people this is aimed at ), probably just arn't going to be arsed about which option they pick.

Personally, seeing how  none of the smaller decissions have been included in the comic, I think, ( although I know it would have been in no way plausible to do so ), that a mini version of Mass Effect should have been made as a PSN/Xbox arcade game.

A mini game using the ME2 system and only containing cutdown versions of the core ME1 missions would have been a lot more interesting and enjoyable.

re:2) - incorrect, Kaidan was left on Virmire. Possibly pic (and medal nearby) was supposed to be used on memorial service?
And my biggest concern about what was left from comic - Cerberus.
Btw, why not any type of novel about ME1 events and checkbox? You know, economy of time at the start of ME2, especially if comic is unskippable:P

Ah, my mistake. I saw him switch up to Kaidan but hadn't noticed him go back to Ashley before making the selection.
