Why didn't anyone tell me that Garrus and Tali could dual-wield pistols in ME1?

I really enjoyed this comic. I've come to expect weird artwork from Dark Horse, so that didn't bug me at all. Heck, I was just happy to see Shepard and the other canon characters besides Liara in a comic! Plot-wise, the comic is choppy, but there is a REASON for that - this is the mandatory intro that PS3 players will go through before playing ME2, and they'd much rather get to playing the game. Therefore the comic has to balance exposition and time, so that it gives as much of the story as possible in a reasonable amount of time so PS3 players don't throw their controllers out the window.

In addition, the comic panels did have some very interesting new views into the ME universe, the off-screen "in between missions and crew chats" stuff we didn't see in game. Namely, the pic of Kaidan and the medal of honor, Liara and two other squaddies on the CIC, the panicked asari Councilor on the Destiny Ascension (I'd wondered what the looks on the Council's faces had been!), and (I loved this personally) the rebuilding of the Citadel. Plus, FLYING Garrus and Tali dual-wielding. What could be more awesome? The option to dual wield in ME3 would be great, I care not what the purists say.

As for possible retcons, honestly, it's no big deal. If you've seen the end of ME2 (not saying it here, this be the no-spoilers section) then I think it's pretty obvious that it doesn't matter what the Citadel's nature is. Besides, it probably wasn't even meant as a retcon - the writer(s) might have thought what they were saying was synonymous with the Citadel's nature in ME1. If you don't like the comic, that's fine, but we should look at its good points as well, rather than blanket-stating "IT SUCKED!"

Please, tell me there is also a female version with Hale's voice over of this. Please?

Yes, there is - this comic apparently plays after the player has chosen Shepard's gender (probably class and service history too).

Thank heaven for that! *goes and tries to find that version somewhere on the net*

Hell now I want an option for my Infiltrator in ME3 to choose between SMG or dual wielding pistols, with an option to upgrading to dual wielding SMG pistols.

YES PLEASE!

There better be a part in ME3 where Grunt is dual-wielding two Revenant LMG's as well just for the Rambo factor.

Oh god no.  One of the best things about ME was that they used the weapons like proper professionals and didn't go for the milked to death dual wielding mechanic.  If ME3 does that then Bioware will have killed off one of the unique qualities of the ME universe at the altar of comic-book 'coolness' that seems to be taking root and trying to take over.

As a side note, Bioware, Dual Wielding would be cool for ME3. Hint hint nudge nudge wink wink.

So who's this Jenkins guy the doctor kept yammering about?

I'm more surprised that the comic offers exactly zero exposition on Cerberus and, in fact, doesn't even mention their name! That's a HUGE part of ME2, and PS3 players are going to have no idea who they are or why so many people seem to hate and mistrust them (because, frankly, ME2 itself paints them as practically a benevolent peacekeeping organization).

that why the comic wont replace the game

I could have sworn at least one dev on here was adamant that dual wielding pistols was too stupid to be in the ME games... yet there they are in the comics like X-men... lol

I assume you'll be able to choose your sex before you begin the comic, then. Wouldn't make much sense for femSheps to have manShep's voice...

Also, I'm encouraged by the voiceover, y'know. When Shep talks about Sovereign in the Citadel, he makes a point of mentioning how tough it was to take down just one reaper - it took the entire Alliance fleet, pretty much. That suggests to me that the end of ME3 won't be a simple gunfight. We're going to have to find a better way to defeat the reapers, because we can't possibly win in a straight fight.

Glad BioWare remembered that, is all. I didn't want a silly ending where we just outgun the reapers.

They ruined Saren's death in the comic. It didn't even come close to showing what was imo, one of the best video game deaths ever.

While I know that Microsoft owns the rights to ME1, couldn't Bioware have made a Remake style game of ME1. The game could have told the same story, but did it in different junctions, and focused more on Saren and Benezia.

Dual-wield only happens in fantasy portions of the ME universe. It's a Bioware tradition:
