Pictured Above: Good Graphics.

Not perfect graphics, not earth shattering graphics, not picturesque graphics, but damn good graphics!

I agree that is a good-looking shot (despite the capture being a lttle iffy). But for the most part what I've been seeing is unimpressive. Some screens look better than others and it just so happens that most screens for DA2 don't look very hot.

We all know DA:O was awesome, that's why we played through it multiple times.

DA2 will be even better.

I'll tell y'all another thing, the fact that it is shorter than Origins means its more compact which means you can re-play again and again without getting bored with tedious elements.

Get it in your heads that there's a budget involved and the devs couldn't have spent the whole year working solely on the graphics. Like many others have said before: BioWare games are not known (or are not famous) for fantastic graphics, but for great stories and characters. I do not remember ONE BioWare game that had more or less than good graphics. Yet I remember them all for having "fantastic" stories, "interesting" characters and "terrific" voice acting.

But hey, I may not be right.

*BTW, if I am harsh it's because I'm sick of seeing comments about how inadequate the graphics are, so I apologize.

I think the different origins in DA:O made it re playable for me.  I'm not so sure DA2 will have that level of replayability IMO

I hope I'm wrong thoughB)

why was  dragonage graphics  bad i never  saw anything bad about them even on computers and or consoles, only thing i think is they need to make his form alittle more real{ yes i know its game} from the looks of the screen pic it looks like he  jumping? or is he falling from the top of that castle behind him  the arms and hands seem  unreal when he holding the swords and the way he  swing his legs ..

I don't care for top of the line visuals, but I expect more from Bioware after ME2. I'm not seeing that kind of polish at the moment.

Dragon Age 2 could look very good if the many blurry textures we've seen were cleaned up. I'm still holding out hope we'll see such improvements by release.

If nothing else the hooded rogue outfit is making me consider changing my first playthrough from a mage into a rogue, mainly because I can now RP that hawke is actually an Assassin from Assassins Creed.

Love the new look of the Rogue armour, except for the toes on those boots. how can you be stealthy wearing steel toed boots? steel on the top of the toes fine, but the bottom?

Here is a comment to the CVG article I found particularly good. It addresses my concerns and also acknowledges the improvements. It may come off as negative but I read it more in a descriptive manner. Anyways, here:

"Because the comments, about RPG purists are very strong, one should reflect on the benefits of being spoon- fed in games.
Looks like the targeted gamer enjoys little paths, stars, and AI''s like a certain one in ME2 telling them complex things like :"This is the Comm room."

After the events of ME2, the same thing is happening to DA2.

-companions having fixed outfits, no visual change. Only rings, belts , and necklaces can be equipped.
-removal of dual wielding warriors, rogues only using daggers, companions having a fixed class.
-removal of friendly fire until nightmare difficulty.
-less skills and spells.
-dialogue wheel that will fully benefit from the ME2 paraphrasing system, the on where your Shepard tend to say things that are no where written.
-the amazing addition of 2 siblings that are assigned to you based on your class.
mages get the male, rogues and warrior the female sibling which is a mage.
-game is shorter
-voiced protagonist requiring more funds, so less dialogue lines
-removal of Origins stories, and race choices.
-Facebook tie in to unlock more in game goodies, because EA has a 5 year deal with them.
-PC version being a parallel release, just like ME2, that game that had low res textures for armors on PC, and no option for high res in the menu, the same menu one had to enter to read the Codex, but who is doing that any way.
-removal of iso-camera
-removal of Arcane Warrior.
Based on this excellent article, and the already confirmed things above, I just had a revelation that nothing, absolutely nothing that made me buy and enjoy the first game is present.
The import feature for saves was reduced to EA's battle with re-sales, and has nothing but cosmetic relevance.
So,it's time to move on, 2011 will be the year of RPG's, some of them even for those that don't need little stars and paths to guide them.
The combat looks improved in DA2, the clunky parts are gone, no one would dare to question things like Darkspawn exploding from a fire spell."

Huh. So, darkspawn exploding from a firespell is a bad thing? Unless I missed something, the force equation is force=mass x acceleration. Technically, the mass of a fireball is big. Thrown at someone from afar, the acceleration of the fireball should then reasonably send the poor bastard into an explosion of flames, guts, blood and entrails everywhere. Especially with magic involved, because technically speaking, if you really wanted to you could hasten the spell to make it faster..and thus have more acceleration, which means more explody goodness.

So, that is a sound, astute observation. Then again, last I checked realism goes out the window with a fantasy game. That has magic. Fantasy. Magic.

....

Yeah, that comment bothers me. Not you, Pwnsaur, but the comment itself. There are a lot of things the commenter talks about that makes zero mention of what the devs on here -- admittedly things they might not have heard yet -- have said to relieve some of those fears. There are still fears, but much of the one's expressed have been answered rather adequately. I would go through the trouble of pointing everything wrong with said comment, but I'm pretty sure that's unnecessary.

So they took out some spells....

But hey half the spells were useless while the others were great.

And we can level up our abliltys and skills/spells.

Honestly the loss of arcane warrior may not be as bad as people think, they could just as easily add spells to the mage tree which give bonuses to combat. (OH WAIT THEY DID THAT IN DA:O. ) >.>

ME2 textures at close distance weren´t that good. Besides, most scenarios there were linear, very few open areas.

Don´t know if this has been posted, but it was in the comments of the article by the one who wrote it:

To interject here,
guys, I’m basing a lot of the dissatisfaction with the art style on what
DA:O’s art director told me. You might love the muted browns and greys;
he and his art team were quite adamant it didn’t come out as well as
they’d hoped.

As someone answered there, I´d rather know what he thought, not what DA2 art team thinks about DA:O visuals.

That's one long sentence......

A lot of people say that Dragonage had bad graphics (which I don't really see) usually because of the texture resolution and whatnot.

He is probably jumping (or 'pouncing') and they will not do anything like that now as it is a part of the art direction they are going with this game (whether you like it or not).

P.S. GRAMMAR IS YOUR FRIEND! :D

Whenever I see a jumping attack like this I think "Stone Fist" spell. I hope enemy rogues can attack like this to try it.

Really like that armor.

I'm still playing a mage on my first playthrough; however, I'm going to make an Assassin's Creed type rogue for my second playthrough.

I see that screenshot and all i can think of is "white rogues can't jump".

Bet that's what the guy on the right is thinking, too.

Anyone else getting tired of these previewers making criticisms of Origins now that they never made before just in a lame effort to justify the changes being made in DAII? Yes, it looks better than Origins and the combat is more fluid. But don't say the story was disconnected and the characters undefined when those were the major positives in just about every review of Origins.

Well, to be honest half the criticisms I have now of ME1 I genuinely didn't think of - not actively - until I played ME2.
