That may or may not be the case. Perhaps they would have, for a share of the profits? Perhaps EA could have used their leverage if they really wanted? But perhaps they actually never intended to bring a "complicated" game like ME 1 to the PS 3. Who knows.
Whatever the case, it doesn't mean that you have to create such a terrible comic as replacement.

Not to turn this into an ME LI war, but I think they kind of did an unfair job setting it up. Before you make the choice, they spend a bit of time setting up Liara as some ME LI, while Kaidan/Ash are just some random soldier in the background, as well as how they've been depicted, aka as a "random soldier".
they turned Liara into the canon romace before you to make a choice between VS or Liara.
Liara was sexualized and I completely agree Kaiden and Ash were generic

Yes,
Dark Horse is working with us to make the Interactive ComicMac also
wrote the comic (he wrote the other ones as well).
There you have it. Of course the higher ups in BioWare could of made him change it.

I'll just say it -- this is the first obviously-EA-driven move that BioWare has made, porting the game to PS3 without porting the original, that I outright hate, and that makes me worried -- no exaggeration! -- for the company as a whole.
Then don't port the series to PS3. Or of course buy it from MGS, if that's possible.

I have already said this, the comic itself was acceptable but not impressive. As for the retconning, I suggest that you personally try to describe ME1's story to a friend/random person, while being closely watched by a platoon of BSN's famous nitpickers. Please, go ahead, do it.Babli wrote...

EDIT -- okay, I saw your explanation in the meantime. "Solid for what it had to do," maybe. I'm not convinced that the gloss-overs don't have the potential to change the story significantly, and to my eyes a lot of them really do.

No one was expecting an hour (or 45 minute) long comic to cover the events of Mass Effect, that's just not realistic.
I disagree. It wouldn't be unrealistic to expect that. It would be difficult to fit all the important events and decisions from ME 1 even into one hour, but it would be possible. Especially if you already chose the easy way of presenting it in the form of a (badly drawn) comic with voice-overs. If BioWare and EA would have had any interest in doing this right and worthy of ME 1 instead of just making money fast, they would at least have tried.
I agree with that about Bioware and EA wanting to do it right, but also, how many people are going to really want to watch a 45 minute cartoon? I would if I'd missed the first part and wasn't able to play it, but that's just me.

Comic isn't badly written, it's just very missinformative of ME1.

Why should I? I´m not paid for it. They had plenty of options of how to tell ME1´s story and they again decided to go through "cool comics stuff" way. These comics are just killing ME universe...at least for me.Phaedon wrote...

I doubt Dark Horse would do it for free. At least they could've you know, mentioned the geth, gotten the spelling of Kaidan's name right and you know, who the heck calls someone older than them a "good kid"?

brb, copy/pasting the wiki, making a 45' cartoon and explaining the Vol Protectorate's socioeconomic policies concerning their interactions with the Alliance in depth in order to satisfy a very ungrateful and whiny minority on the interwebs instead of offering an efficient description for newcomers for a game that sucks you into the universe itself after the first 3 hours.Babli wrote...

He is a lead writer of Mass Effect now and unfortunately a comic writer. Who else would have done that? I fear for the ME3 now...very much...Drew Karpyshyn please come back and save this once great universe of yours
Lead writer doesn't mean "writes every word". For instance, he didn't write Lair. And Drew didn't write everything either in ME1. A ton of ME was not his doing. For instance, Wrex? Largely Mac Walters' work. The entire Codex? Not Drew.
The root of all evil are the thermal clips and targetting 15-year olds with Miranda's ass shots. Mac Walters isn't resposible for that. He is quite on the receiving end of those things too. How can he write a serious story about semi-nude women in space?
Killing off Shepard at beginning of game.
Working for Cerberus.
Waving away choices from ME1.
Entire plot being recruiting a new crew to fight a new alien species that has barely any relevance to the overall reaper plot.
If Walters is to blame for any of these he should be sacked.

Glad to see canonShep and his condescending views are still rollin'. Charming that he was surprised at the fact that Wrex wasn't an evil evil brute, just like all those other evil krogan. He seems to really like feeling superior to everyone else as well. People older than him are "kids" now, people more skilled than he will ever be are "little". Nice. Not sure about everyone else, but my Shepard certainly doesn't think of her team members and friends this way. Oh, well.
Was it really necessary to let this be voiced by Shepard?
I have to agree I wanted to be narrated by ether Codex narrator or Admiral Hacket.
Now that's a good idea, but I suspect that they wanted to introduce you to maleShep's voice...

Why do you think people make comics, to get paid or would they just do everything for free and starve to death, They do call it a job for a reason
