Mind you, the entire 'relays' paragraph as it is remains internally consistent with ME1, since 'relays' can just as well apply to the entire network of mass relays that was just referred to, which includes the Citadel relay to Dark Space. While grammatically ambiguous, it isn't actually contradictory since the comic itself never refers to the Citadel itself as a singular relay, and so the prior plural (the network of relays) still applies.

However, the general reaction from this thread, is, IMO, a bit over the top.
One spelling error is not something that needs to be dwelled on and certain plot points and events being left out are to be expected in a quick 15 minute recap of an entire story.
We know these events happened, we experienced these events and these experiences exist in the ME universe.
Just because one section of the audience may not understand everything does not mean your experience is negatively affected in any way because of it.
As for retcons, as far as I could tell there were no major retcons present in the comic (aside from the fact that apparently Shepard ****ed his pants everytime he did a mind meld. I'm going to choose to ignore that)
Now, the main problem I had with the comic was the representation of the character's appearances and personalities.
Kaiden was described as a 'nice kid', despite being a 31 year old man who is older than Shepard (as has been pointed at numerous times)
Ashley was IMO largely glossed over in favour of focusing on the 'hawt sexy alien babe' who was presented as some sexed up scientist with a massive rack and extra tight clothing (which she permanantly wore in all situations) while Shepard narrated over the top in a skeezy, lecherous manner (and this is prior to even picking her as a romance)
Plus there was the whole Garrus and Tali diving through the air dual wielding pistols like some bad John Woo movie.
Now the reason why these particular things bother me is they potentially hint at what is to be expected in ME3.
The representations of Kaiden and Ash have me worried certain characters personalities will be butchered entirely (especially when one takes into account many characters like Jack, Samara, Thane, EDI, Ash and so on have had their main writer leave)
The depiction of Liara makes me think that they'll continue with their sexing up of companions appearances and continue to spit on the idea of armour and realism in favour of more TnA.
And the presentation of Garrus/Tali makes me worry they'll continue to put 'rule of cool' ahead of things such as believability and practicality.
Of course it should be taken into account that it is a comic and therefore a certain level of over the topness is to be expected, however it still leaves me worried on what is to come.

That was good.
We don't know if contract Bioware has with Microsoft restricts them from using ME in game material (art, audio, etc.) in any way on PS3 release. Who kows... maybe something like that is why Bioware decided to go with this comic.
This is also the first RGP they release to any generation of PlayStation. For me it would make sense that they try to make the "first contact" with PS players as easy as possible, not to drown them in lots of details and decisions.
PS3 has about 30% market share on console market. Almost 15 million consoles sold according to VGA charts. (Source)

For me it looks like Bioware has a lot to win on PS3 and they do want any gamer who just want to put the disc in, sit down and play to have good experience with their game. 25-30 minutes comic with lots of details and more decisions to do might rise the bar too much.
Uh... now just wait until "Could you recruit Blasto in ME1?" threads start appearing.

Yeah anything past 15 min is starting to get into Metal Gear territory.
I have understood that Metal Gear have strong following on PS? If so I guess they could pull of anything, they have established their brand on PS and already have everything Bioware needs to establish.

Veteran ME player: ...What?
PS3er: Well the comic said she was a fugitive...
Veteran ME player: *kills self*
I think we will have a lot of explaining when the PS3 people join up...

No, "relays to dark space" is specifically mentioned, and at least twice at that.Dean_the_Young wrote...

Metal Gear is Metal Gear, you buy the game knowing that characters are about to ramble for 20+ minutes. I don't know if Mass Effect 2 would be afforded the same allowances while trying to make a first impression.

OK. One: all the comic music is ME1 music. Two: the Codex contains images that were also used in ME1, not to mention all that text. Three: Normandy crash site flashbacks are ME1 images. Four: the stereo in Shep's cabin has ME1 tunes on it. Five: prothean beacon on N7 mission. Six: they included the "Story So Far" video with the PS3 demo. It contains a bunch of ME1 video mixed in with ME2 clips, with the bulk being ME1 material:
I think it's safe to say the "They couldn't use ME1 stuff" notion is incorrect.

yes. which is weird because u can remake that decision on the cerberus vessel
Right, what's the point of giving the player a chance to retcon own choice in a span of half a game's hour?
Except ME: Genesis on the PS3 isn't a retcon. It's a very poor recap of the events in ME1.

I stand corrected. And now I think of it, music in comic was obvious indication... D'oh...
But now their decision to produce this comic seems bit weird. But well, I guess they had to gain something by outsourcing this to Dark Horse.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with this too. Just seems so corny, rushed and incorrect.
I hate how Shepard describes Kaiden. He acts like he is some wet behind the ears kid. I'm pretty sure Kaiden is a year or two older than you, Shepard.
That was jarring. I never thought of Kaiden as a "kid."
