Exactly...and it seems some don't like that, as it 'caters to straight dudes and lesbians' or something... unless I'm mis-interpreting posts in this thread.

I hate the dialogue for both genders becaue it's needless the mindmeld thing was unnecessary. Referring to only Ashley's and Liara's attractiveness was unnecessary. It should've been all of them or none of them at all. The pics having Ashley and Kaidan in the background were poorly done and marginalizing an already marginalized character.

You will pick the dude regardless, or say none.  Then you get your pick of THREE DUDES in ME2.

Which is totally not the point.

Plus I DON'T WANT ANY OF THOSE 3 DUDES!

<_<

And the guy I do wantis reduced to a lame 5 minute came that has him yelling at me while my Shep just stands there with little emotion on their face.

That does not stop the dialogue from being needlessly suggestive. I'd feel the same way about Kaidan if FemShep spoke about his attractiveness and intelligence.

Since quoting for truth is de rigueur on this thread, allow me to say.... *ahem*

My focus is Ash and Kaidan being pushed to the background if they are even allowed by bioware to be mentioned. Because most of the time they are ignored. Tired of the BS.

I agree with this.

The mindmeld isn't pleasant anyway when someone is digging in your mind looking for crazy visions.

...unless you're high maybe.

Anyway, nothing good can be said about this comic.  Perhaps maybe that it's dirt cheap at the cost of 'free'?  Nah, being free can't even save it.

Unless they counted the "good kid" bit as an attraction compliment for Kaidan.

How so? Hale has exactly the same lines and sounds just as suggestive at certain parts of the comic as Meer.

I don't like it not because it caters to "straight men or lesbians" but because it makes it seem like Shepard is canonically only interested in Liara and that the mind meld is obviously something that has been pleasant for Shepard.

Which is odd, because renegade Shepard states that he/she can't understand why Liara is coming over all faint as it had no effect on them. And paragon Shepard says the same thing pretty much, but kindly. Never has Shepard gone ''Phweeeeeeeeeeee, Liara, you should bottle that stuff'' ;)

The bolded is sad but very true.

And yeah being free can't save the thing. *Shakes head*

And to think people were nerd raging about not getting the comic when it was first announced.

Hilarity in hindsight.

Maybe Shepard meant his mental age?

Seriously, VS shouldn't overrate meaning of this comix. It retcons nothing, tells nothing and shows nothing. Main purpose ot this comix it's just give few major choices for PS3 players.
But no, you start claiming that Bioware's main target was ****** you off. <_<

Honestly, people. I do not completely believe BioWare is doing anything here. At least not in regards to burning Ash and Kaidan fans. Consider some fundamental facts...

- Dark Horse designed this comic.
- They also designed the Liara comic.
- The audience they are appealing to is likely never to have purchased any ME content.
- Which would be more profitable for Dark Horse? Liara, who is a cover girl on a separate comic or Ash/Kaidan, who are not?

This could simply be about garnering a profit. If that is the case, who can blame?

That's a damn problem.

This is supposed to be a recap. The lead writer worked on this.

What exactly am I supposed to take from this that's positive?

The only thing I see is that the VS is marginalized and the leader writer apparently doesn't know what the hell was in the first game. Several important plot points are blantantly ignored or flat out wrong.

And no I doubt his intention was to ****** us off but it certainly wasn't to treat the characters in their own works with respect.

But why is there a need to put romance in this in the first place? Wouldn't avoiding the romances be the easiest option?

Yeah, I also don't like that some moments were dropped, but it's business. This comix prepares players for ME2. Let's be honest, VS, Cypher and other were almost ignored in ME2, so what is the sense to tell about this in comix?

I guess it's one of those situations where the easiest option doesn't equal the best option.

Because a lot of players like romance in their games, other than that you have a very good point.  No plot point is dependent on being a romance, though w/ Liara her arch and motivations makes more sense if you romanced her or were a very good friend.  PS3 players will be deprived of a number of things, some actually pretty cool NPCs like Conrad or Shiala.  So, why not just let them romance the people in the game and let it go at that?  Fanservice, I beleive is the correct answer.

How are you prepared by not knowing what geth/husks are? Who Cerberus are? The significance of the first game? The one mass relay leading to DS being the Citadel?

More than just those were ignored in the comic. It's shoddy writing and the fact that the lead writer worked on it is a damn embarassment.

I don't care who designed the comic. Bioware gave it the green light so they are responible for the content. The comic puts the focus on Liara while pushing Ash and Kaidan to the background. That is playing favs, that is BS. The comic is supposed to be an introduction to ME1. It sucks at that in many ways. It is not like this is the first time Ash and Kaidan have been ignored or pushed to the side. It is just one more time. I wont get into the others. So what ever the excuse , what ever the reason. It is unacceptable. It is BS.

Did any liara fan ever complained that she wasnt on the game cover or in gameplayvids before he game was released? I can understand the reaction of kaidan fans somehow. But ashley was the postergirl of the first game, not the asari.

I think it would have been best to keep choices out of the comic and give the PS3 players the 'default' ME2 that new XBox/PC players got...i.e., no romance. The comic would still be needed to introduce the story, but it could have focused more on that instead of focusing on setting up this ridiculous 'romance confrontation' scene....which is a waste of a panel.

Seriously, how can you make any of the choices (romance, rachni, Wrex) without being properly informed? Most people are just going to randomly pick stuff.

It is unfortunately a fact that Ashley and Kaidan have no content to speak of in ME 2, and the content that is there is badly written. But let's not forget that the same was true for Liara until LotSB was released. And let's also not forget that her portrayal in this comic is quite bad too, just look at those pictures. The whole comic is terrible.

Who cares about what the game (allegedly) wants to force upon you? They also wanted you to cheat on your ME 1 LI in ME 2, they even said as much. My Shepard didn't, not even before LotSB was released. It's still your own decision. And you can still choose Ashley or Kaidan in the comic. The actual problem is still that there's no proper content in ME 2.

And if you're afraid that there will be no Ashley or Kaidan DLC if BioWare sees that many PS 3 gamers don't choose them, it's more than likely that the decision of whether such as DLC will be released or not has long been made.

This one gets me the most. Forget Liara, VS, the geth and everything else.  The ethically challanged organizaation that murdered an admiral and possibly ruined the life of Shepard and ultimately bring Shep back in ME2 are never mentioned in the comic at all.  I know they had a small role in ME1, but come on.

You know what, I'm just going to stop.  No matter what anyone's reasons, I think most can agree that the comic was a piece of sh*t.  I just really feel sorry for the PS3 players.
