80 hours would be nice.
No thanks.
35-50 hours is good, for my own sanity. 80 hours would limit the number of times you can replay it.
Especially when it comes time to get all the achievement hunting done, replaying the game would insane if I needed to spend 80 hours each time I did it..

200 hours make it be insane

If the Bible were made into a movie word for word, then that is how long Mass Effect 3 should be.
Excluding the side missions of course.

As long as it could be to be one of the most epic games ever without dragging on too long and without finishing too early.

Long enough to learn a crap load about the Reapers, I hope - we didn't really learn much about them in ME2!

Mass Effect 1 was like ****ing 50+ for me, but I was anal about getting everything. This is for my first play through when I also listened to the dialogue.
Mass Effect 2 was 32 hour binge doing everything and listening to all of the dialogue. I'm pretty sure Mass Effect 2 was the beefier game in terms of interesting side quests. A lot of that time in Mass Effect was out just roaming barren empty wastes.
I would hope Mass Effect 2 is like 50+ hours factoring in dialogue, engaging missions, and NOT padding it with retarded collecting of any variation. **** collecting. I would say Mass Effect 1 was a far worse offender in terms of padding. The planets were so boring... even with the Mako's crazy and sometimes entertaining physics.

My official position: As long as it needs to be to complete Shepard's story in a satisfying and Homeric manner.
But that's not really an answer.
My fan-boy answer:
100+ hours, side-stuff included. I want a BIG galaxy to explore with CAPITAL PLANETS (homeworlds) as hub worlds, and many a virgin world ripe for tooling about in the Hammerhead, with gorgeous ME1-style skyboxes.
For this, I follow a simple calculation:
ME1: 1 disk
ME2: 2 disks
ME3: You do the math.
3 disks would be ample space for an INCREDIBLE end to Shepard's story.

Forgive me if I seem out of the loop, but did the devs confirm/deny multiplayer/coop? If so, pleeese pretty pleeeese tell me they are NOT adding multi/coop to ME3, that would break my heart.
And yes CmdrKankrelat, as I said on page 1, I would LOVE for ME3 to have 3 discs :-D

Let's see, by December 2011, I'll have 20 vacation days saved up. So counting weekends, that's 28 days off..figure 16 hours a day for gaming..carry the one...and that equals...
Dear Bioware,
Please make the third installment of Mass Effect 448 hours long.
XOXO

As long as possible without sacrificing quality.
I really would love if it was just massive with 80+ hours or engaging game play but that's unlikely.
If they manage to wrap up all the major arcs + do fan service (show Tali's face, etc.) I'll be happy.

As epic as possible. It needs to be awesome. I don't care how long it is, as long as it leaves me thunderstruck for at least 5 minutes after it ends.
This as well. I should literally finish the game and just sit in my seat for 10 minutes staring at the title screen going "Wow... that was amazing".

50+ hours not counting DLC would be nice. Shepard has a lot to do in my opinion.

LOL!
My hope is 30 hours for the main story alone, but in reality it will be more like 10-15.

Final Fantasy XIII Length.
And it can start out pretty linear, but then side missions/assignments should take over the rest of the game, and then you get back to that final mission.
Assignments.. There should be about 150. Make it more Red Dead, make it more spontaneous too. I like walking somewhere random and hearing two Krogans talk about fish.
But assignments are pointless unless they change the EXP system. 50 exp for an assignment? When you can easily get 1000 just by recruiting a squadmate?

Took me about 45 hours to beat Mass Effect 1 my first time through.
Took me about 35 hours for Mass Effect 2.
I'm hoping it'll be around as long as the first game...

The first game was just a lot of filler.
NO TO FILLER. No point lengthening a game just for the sake of it. It ruins the pacing.

i would say 25-40 hours is good because after all we want to play it multiple times not 100 hr game and then never or rarely play it again

Im going to open a topic about whether or not people should drink water.
Ehhh Im gonna say around 2 hours...I would hate to play a game i love for a long time and have it last....then when replaying it still being surprised at how many little things I had forgotten...and different choices to make. Lol at some people saying they would prefer it be shorter so they can replay it more....w....t....f? As if the concept of playing a video game is a chore.
Dude, it should be longer than both ME2 and ME1 in every aspect because its the last...its common sense. Sidequests and mainquest alike. As long as its filled with good things to do anyone would have to be an idiot to want it to be shorter. I vote 1000 hours but I doubt it will be any longer than ME2...probably shorter. Just going on the way things seem to go today.
