This entire thread is tragic. Pfft my only input is - War Houndog, if u don't like it go play the Sims where you can be gay. Just stop complaingin and get over yourself, it's not as if they're gonna change it now, are they? So grow up and enjoy the game for what it is, or don't, why should I care?

Good for you, its so easy to say that, you're so mature. Consider the fact I have to defend my thead from people who have no idea what they are talking about and make mindless posts without even thinking or reading.

You haven't actually provided any proof to Mass Effect 1 forcing romance on people, so you're speaking a bit too soon, aren't you, oh Galactic Genius that we, the worthless masses have so injured you?

QFT. All you have said is that you hate how he is depicted in the comics. Well don't use the comic, it's not the only thing that's depicted wrong as others have stated. Another thing you state is that there is no M/M relationship (also no F/F) but as stated as well there are a lot of options that are missing and there are limitations we have to play by.

What is this? So you want to run the game or other posters into the ground since there are some people aren't open minded as you are about it? Why dose the game have to have it or not? Or is this a attempt to get all of it removed, since others are not as open minded about it as you are?

I know some folks are more than willing to say absolutely anything to get their way or feed something within. And no I'm not saying you are one of these people either.

Surely you know it's a 'hot' topic out there in public circles, why ruin the possibility of sales or even having a game? Hells bells there has been argument after argument one way or the other on this subject in postings. You don't have to participate in the romance options, why let it bother you so?  Or is this a attempt to put the subject on the pedistal of ME's forums public opinion?

Or are you just venting due to frustration about this stuff?

Stirring up the pot and saying their shoving it down your throat, doesn't make much sense to me either. Neither do posters that try to aggravate each other and escalate things.

This stance on this reminds me of something a few private citizens did against a few fallen police officers and their memorial. The simple putting up of a religious symbol for each of the fallen officers, made the nonreligious over sensitive few jump on their soap box. They screamed someone was shoving this religion down their throat when in truth it was only done in respect to the deceased and the family. So since the state took the symbols down. . . Dose that mean we need to comb the world and do the same thing to all of the grave sites / memorials for solders and other officers / firefighters as well? To the very ones who try to protect us, help us, and died for it? How is that right either?

I know the 'grave's might be a apples / oranges thing to you, but hells / bells is this really the place to be convincing people on the merits of having a open vs closed mind about sexuality? Also is this the place really to be discussing this? There are tons on youth here, trying to learn how to express themselves, thoughts, and opinions already on these forums. Some of them are just seeking guidance, others just someone to talk to. Dose it really surprise you that they are going to go overboard and fling insults at you? (Assuming that is why you are really upset?)

I understand if its a pride thing, but still you have to understand some
people are not going to want to expose there teenagers to this period. Hell
bells ME 1 already went though the fire with a over zealous reporter -
book author (and political pundit,) about the 'one click' nudity stuff a
couple years ago why toss more flack at the game? (Heck there's posting about it recently, somewhere out there. I don't remember where it is otherwise I would put up the link.)

Anyway. . reguardless. . . good luck out there. <<< And that is directed to all of you who read this line.

War Houndoom, your first post is clear but I think you shoul've presented your opinion gently, so people wouldn't attack you and make you counter-attack.

Hey, I'm not going to let people harras me, especially when they are painfully wrong.

I'd be odd if you didn't defend yourself.
Well both sides are correct. Why ? You can always ignore romance by using renegade dialogue when the game tries to force it upon a player. That is my statement

And why should I be forced to choose the neutral option in the first place? why can't I play the game without being led into a relationship when all I'm doing is just trying to get my sqaud mates? its bogus. Thats how it forces the player. It forces you to make a choice you shouldn't have to make. If you want to romance them then the game should give clear options, which it honestly doesn't

I think one thing a lot of people tend to miss is that you don't always have to choose either Paragon or Renegade. Ideally, people should just ignore that altogether and just pick whatever sounds right. In your case, if you only want to be friends then choose that option. Who gives a **** if that option happens to be neutral? You get your point across, and that's what matters.

You state that the game forces people into relationships. When this "fact" is disproven, you adjust your statement and say that the game forces you to choose certain dialogue options if you want to avoid a relationship, which is true and makes sense. So why are you not satisfied with that? Do you honestly expect Bioware to include three different ways to say either "yes", "no" or "just friends"? Nine lines of dialogue just for a stupid romance? If they do this they would have to do the same in other dialogues as well.

I suspect you'll keep acting like a spoiled, self-entitled brat though, demanding stuff left and right, so I'll just rest my case. It's apparent that this is no discussion, since you're unable to even acknowledge facts when you're disproven.

My argument is ... it's a game ... not real life ... Their isn't a gay relationship option ... and there isn't in many games.

As someone has said ... Play SIMS or something ;)

Good Lord, the original poster is just a guy venting that his sexual orientation wasn't represented and that somehow Bioware is obligated to have all possible sexual orientations represented.

Guess what? Nothing obligates Bioware to include anything. If that offends, you,too bad. But this is something that you cannot fault on Bioware in any shape or form.

What if I railed about the absence of, I don't know, a character that is of Czech/Polish nationality? Would that mean that Bioware has something against Poland if there is no mention of Poland what so ever?

Or if that Bioware includes London being destroyed by the Reapers that means they are playing out some fantasy where they want to see London destroyed.

That Shepard cannot engage in same-sex relationships = Bioware is against same-sex relationships. That's your conclusion? Seriously?

Grow. Up

@OP

Grow up.

Male Shepard is, (unless they add the option in ME3), up to this point, heterosexual in canon. If you don't want to be heterosexual, then play Female Shepard, she can romance Liara.

No, they don't make him a "horny" heterosexual. They make him find Liara to be beautiful. Guess what - in ME lore, Asari are considered by most species to be beautiful. They have to be, purebloods are weak.

If you want Male Shepard to bend over for Kaidan so bad, write a fanfic, or play a modded version of ME in which Shepard is called a woman.

Once again we see another example of Bioware forcing romance on people, oh sure it gives you the right to choose not to, but it sure forces its heterosexual views on people who might have other opinions, actually this comic was a perfect way to include the homosexaul romance option. Looks like intel dropped the ball....again...

It would be nice if bioware listened to their fans for once, seeing as there is an almost 150 page thread on the subject of M/M romance.

I don't realy understand the concern here.

There is no need for introducing m/m relation in this comic because :
1) there is none it the original game (even if it was supposed to be)
2) there is none in ME2 (and unlike ME1, there is no footage at all).

So, by stating 2)  it makes sens that there is no m/m relation because even if it was introduced in the comics, it couldn't be followed in ME2, unless you are satisfied by the basic line but they don't show much feelings.

This is just a adaptation, it's not a remake, no new level, no new dialogue.

That wasn't a breach of forum etiquette at all.

P.S.  : Great. This guy likely has been on the receiving end of bullying for his sexual orientation in real life and he's got himself into a forum scuffle. Now I feel guilty. ( no sarcasm )

In fact some people are harrasing you and that's stupid of them.

Most people are telling you just their oppinions about the game and do not intend to harrass or insult you in every way (including me). By this thread I clearly see some people have serious personality issues. Not just one person, but some of them.

Lol.. if he's been bullied it's not because of being gay, it's cause he's an annoying douche.

Seriously, it's just a game. Complaining about something like this is just silly.

Seems a bit more like a very deliberate troll to me. Too much classic troll tactics in the posts to be natural. Could be wrong, though.
