I've come to the conclusion that the alien races are psychologically same to humans and with the same average IQ. Same mental behavior, just different body forms. Oddly.

Salarians may talk a bit faster, and asari may have more life experience by living 1000 years, but that's it. Turian honor is only a cultural and not a racial thing.

Especially in the second setup. Or in Avatar. Or in... well, nearly everywhere.

That's because we know human psyhology.

Some novels are worth the read, as they have pretty interesting visions, something unique, something we haven''t met yet.

You just now figured that out? Hell, Kaidan will pretty much say exactly that in the first game.

I thought alien races would be mentally diverse due to differing biology.

Humanoid aliens are a constant in human-created science fiction.

Not necessarily. I read a few novels where the aliens were crazy shapes. One species was similar to giant spiders while another was similar to ants.

Others were like reptilian monkeys and it goes on and on.

Bioware wants you to be able to relate to these aliens. Which is why they aren't all horrible lovecraftian monsters.

I believe that this is due to the fact that all Great Fiction is meant to reflect "The Human Condition"...Aliens in Science Fiction are meant to reflect aspects of ourselves...just my Opinion.

There was an episode of Star Trek:TNG where it was revealed that the majority of the dominant Races in the Galaxy were seeded by a much Older Race of Bipedal Humanoids with the same general characteristics all the Races shared (two eyes, one mouth, a nose, etc) I thought that was a pretty brilliant way of answering the question of why Humans, Vulcans, Klingons, et al all looked so similar.

I meant it honestly ,take the floatilla (the one place where being comparatively similar should make sense) one admiral is an **** (who still wants peace which is nice) another's an honest staright talker  (who hates the geth) and then theres the quarian soldier who's a missle toting badass without much tech-savy, that's a lot of variation

Or even the rare drell, Thane was cool calm and collected Kolyat was a sullen rebel despite being related nevermind that Feron was sly type to be sure.

I hate literature. If anything I wrote got declared as literature I'd write a step by step guide to every in and out of my intentions and sell it to high schoolers for a cent or just upload it to the internet.

Yeah...probably a bit overstated now that I look at it again...
but I was speaking more from a perspective of giving an answer within the Star Trek Canon to all the Fans who must've asked again and again at Conventions why that was the case...
I guess "brilliant cop out" would've been a better way to put it Posted Image

Oh, all right. I'm just thinking about how the asari reflect the western world's emphasis (some might say over-emphasis) on politics, how the salarians reflect the efficiency of the Israelis, and how the Turians reflect the militaristic nature of the conservative right in western countries.

Right and Left being relative, I believe their meaning changes depending on what country you're in.

well they might be similar to them but they don't over emphasise the similarities to me so i think it could be that they simply picked systems of government that made sense for the audience

Lol. There are examples to the contrary in everything.

We still shouldn't continue to be surprised at humanoid aliens in sci-fi. They are everywhere.

Yeah, i'd much rather humanoid species than a reptilian ant with no elbows.

Krogan are the most alien aliens in Mass Effect, bar possibly the Rachni and the Reapers. If they weren't bipedal, and didn't have Wrex, they'd be great: distinctly non-human, innately different psychology, biology trumping sci fi kumbyyah, and so on.

Wait, Wrex makes the Krogan NOT great?

You could also argue they are all like Humans because of convergent evolution. The human way of thinking was most beneficial to survival and advancement, and thus other planets ended up evolving to it on their own, or something like that. Its just an idea.
