"The elves have had their faces changed as well and no longer looks like humans wearing pointy rubber ears. They are tall, slim, have big eyes and longer ears - imagine Avatar's Na'Vi mixed with the elves from Origins and you're getting close to how they look now."

Wha? I could have sworn that I've read they are *shorter* in DA2. What's the truth?

ty for the interesting read.

It seems that this article has answered my question about elven  high:

They are tall, slim, have big eyes and longer ears - imagine Avatar's Na'Vi mixed with the elves from Origins and you're getting close to how they look now. And no, they are not blue.

Now I am pretty happy for DA elves. And haters-gonna-hate for sure.

It's rather obnoxious to call people who have different opinions haters.

It's all in the delivery of the opinion would you not agree?  There is 'disagreement' on these boards and there is 'hate' of that there is no question.

I do remember reading something about how all elves have super lithe build and thats its not right to judge how short Merrill is considering her 3 sec appearance where she is going up hill to greet Howke.

Devs are very illusive on this particular topic. I wish to know where the truth is too.

Sure. But no distinction was made as such.

Well, perhaps I'm irritable today. I certainly feel like it.

If I've interpreted what Gaider wrote in the New Dev Diary and Merrill Appreciation threads correctly, elves will be taller than they were in DA:O but still shorter than humans.

David Gaider wrote...

As for her [Merrill] looking tiny, I assume that's also the angle. She's not much smaller than an average human, to be honest. She is thin, though-- all elves have very slender body types (to go back to the art team's intention to give the races more distinct silhouettes).

Fenris sure looks taller than a DA:O elf in this (old) screenie.

I don't understand. How can Sandal be in Kirkwall when he is with the Warden?

Interesting preview but Sten was certainly not boring <_< The only way you can really think that is if you never pursued dialogue with him. His way of speaking was dry, which fit him, but Qunari philosophy was really interesting to me. Also I loved it when he would get exasperated with my warden..hehe

And Sandal?! Can it be?? Will we finally learn about his magical darkspawn killing powers? Honesty I thought the last scene with him in Origins was just thrown in by the developers to give us a last laugh before we face the big bad..

Only the very beninning takes place at the same time as DAO, then it makes a one year jump ahead as far as i know.

In the screenshots attached to the article, I saw circles around all the characters when in combat. I hate those circles!
Bioware, please say we will be able to switch those off!

Yep. Ground rings are on a (gasp) (shock) toggle, and so are damage numbers. I personally didn't realize the importance of ground rings until I tried playing the game from a high angle pulled-out camera on PC -- without them, it can be really hard to tell what's going on when you've got a big fight going on. At the same time, when you're playing from a close camera, they can be distracting and clutter up the display, so you can turn them off.

Much thanks for giving us the option. As I was watching the combat video walkthrough you guys released a few weeks ago, that was the first thing I noticed missing. It just doesn't look right to me without those rings and damage numbers.. so I'm very happy they're still in.

Old hat. I read this ages ago on the danish site, this is just a translation... Pretty basic, I too disagreed with his opinion on Sten.

Sten was one of the most boring characters in Origins, and if you didn't know anything about the Qunari you might have thought that he was nothing more than a tall guy with some crazy ideas.

This entire preview is now invalid.

and THAT means the new PC camera is still good enough if it makes the circles necessary. HORRAY!<3 I was affraid that the new camera would be to limited compare to the isometric view of Origins.

Sten will always be my favorite DA:O character. I'm not usually attracted to big, strong, stoic characters because I often find them cliched and empty, but I liked Sten from the get-go. Appearance-wise, the fact that he looks so calm and non-violent and yet has those crazy eyes and is said to have murdered an entire family for no apparent reason makes him immediately intriguing (made me think of that guy from the Green Mile). The fact that he's got so much humility and self-respect as the same time (he's humble because he doesn't try to hide what he's done, doesn't want to get out of the cage without a good reason, doesn't believe in individuality, yet he has self-respect because he finds that rage to survive and stands behind his opinions). To me, he's just that perfect tragic figure wrapped in awesomeness, and he may be Qunari but I find him very human. His VA did a great job in letting emotion slip here and there with that severe, montonous tone. I almost shed a single tear two times when there's a zoom on his face : once in the Gauntlet where he reveals his true self to the Guardian, the other time when Leliana sings and he seems nostalgic. And I love that he has a thing for painting. Overall, a pretty subtle character, which is probably why the reviewer didn't get it :P !
