Wha? I could have sworn that I've read they are *shorter* in DA2. What's the truth?

ty for the interesting read.
It seems that this article has answered my question about elven high:
They are tall, slim, have big eyes and longer ears - imagine Avatar's Na'Vi mixed with the elves from Origins and you're getting close to how they look now. And no, they are not blue.
Now I am pretty happy for DA elves. And haters-gonna-hate for sure.
It's rather obnoxious to call people who have different opinions haters.

It's all in the delivery of the opinion would you not agree? There is 'disagreement' on these boards and there is 'hate' of that there is no question.

As for her [Merrill] looking tiny, I assume that's also the angle. She's not much smaller than an average human, to be honest. She is thin, though-- all elves have very slender body types (to go back to the art team's intention to give the races more distinct silhouettes).

In the screenshots attached to the article, I saw circles around all the characters when in combat. I hate those circles!
Bioware, please say we will be able to switch those off!

Yep. Ground rings are on a (gasp) (shock) toggle, and so are damage numbers. I personally didn't realize the importance of ground rings until I tried playing the game from a high angle pulled-out camera on PC -- without them, it can be really hard to tell what's going on when you've got a big fight going on. At the same time, when you're playing from a close camera, they can be distracting and clutter up the display, so you can turn them off.

Sten was one of the most boring characters in Origins, and if you didn't know anything about the Qunari you might have thought that he was nothing more than a tall guy with some crazy ideas.

Sten will always be my favorite DA:O character. I'm not usually attracted to big, strong, stoic characters because I often find them cliched and empty, but I liked Sten from the get-go. Appearance-wise, the fact that he looks so calm and non-violent and yet has those crazy eyes and is said to have murdered an entire family for no apparent reason makes him immediately intriguing (made me think of that guy from the Green Mile). The fact that he's got so much humility and self-respect as the same time (he's humble because he doesn't try to hide what he's done, doesn't want to get out of the cage without a good reason, doesn't believe in individuality, yet he has self-respect because he finds that rage to survive and stands behind his opinions). To me, he's just that perfect tragic figure wrapped in awesomeness, and he may be Qunari but I find him very human. His VA did a great job in letting emotion slip here and there with that severe, montonous tone. I almost shed a single tear two times when there's a zoom on his face : once in the Gauntlet where he reveals his true self to the Guardian, the other time when Leliana sings and he seems nostalgic. And I love that he has a thing for painting. Overall, a pretty subtle character, which is probably why the reviewer didn't get it!
