China: no option in country list

Hi,

The net is a brilliant place. Although being in a far away land, my Chinese-based credit card has been (nearly) universally accepted on many online purchases I make. For reasons that I cannot fathom, I'm unable to use EA's online services for years now (since I'm in China). Buying BioWare points is no different. Either the BSN or Hong Kong's EA store (where I'm redirected to) lack one very important purchase data: the country where I live.

If I put my country of origin (or any other one for that matter) the automatic service just fusses that there's a missmatch of information. So many online stores have been wise not to implement such absolute payment methods... couldn't EA do the same?

There is, however, Antarctica as an option in the country list. Should I try to get a credit card from there, then?

My request should be simple enough: I want to buy what you sell, especially BioWare products. Alas, it is quite simple to get illicit copies here. I don't condone that and, frankly, I don't need it. I have the cash to spend. I like to support hard working people making great games. All I want is to make an honest purchase. Please... let me do just that.

Thank you for your time.

In an unexpected turn of events, I went to EA's online store and, as usual, got redirected to the site in Hong Kong. Although my country of residence isn't listed, I went ahead anyway and tried to purchase 800 BioWare points for 80HKD. In the billing information I entered my usual Chinese address but selected 'Hong Kong'.

Although the country was wrong... it worked! I was able to get BioWare points which immediately got transferred to my BSN account. That was strange but I did get the points in a smaller portion, which is a better alternative to a third-party site I had gone to.

Does this mean I can make purchases from EA's store using the same oddity, or was this just a glitch? I sent a note to EA's support services on this and am waiting for an answer.

It would be nice to get points straight from this site. It's too cold in Antarctica, so I won't be moving there...
