Is Dragon Age going to do that stupid thing where girl characters are ALWAYS dressed skimpily?

I've seen people walking around in bikinis even when they probobly shouldn't. Does that mean that they should not be allowed to wear what they feel comfortable with?

Would you pay admission to see them?  *on second thought, don't answer that, I don't wanna know LOL

I'm a heterosexual woman and happily married yet I find Isabela very attractive.

You're not paying for it here either, it just happens to be an added bonus B)

Well, unless someone is buying DA2 specifically to look at Isabela's ass.

No, but do I get hung up on superficial things like what kind of clothes they are wearing for today? Nope.

Isabela's outfit isn't fanservice. It doesn't turn into fanservice (to me anyways) until we start getting shots like the investigate option being on Miranda's ass.

Edit: Though at that point in addition to being fanservice it's also tasteless.

Put Desire Spirit in the list.

The only reason I'm not whining this time around is because of Varric's gloriously exposed chest XD

May the maker help us if that's repeated in DA2.

I don't see anything inherently wrong with fanservice.

Does Dragon Age have a wide variety of women? Yes. Do they dress appropriate to their character? Mostly. I'm not sure what's up with Bethany, but Aveline and Meredith both are not sexualized and dress in regular, practical heavy armor. Cassandra is very attractive but I don't see her T or A hanging out.

Isabela strikes me as a "blatant fanservice" kind of gal.

And how dare some fans like that, I suppose?

Well, I guess people can scold me for mentioning puritanism-- but listening to a bunch of people cluck their tongues in disapproval every time a character shows some thigh or some side boob sure starts to sound that way. I'd much rather someone just said her outfit looked bad, like "I would never wear that! Gawd, what is she thinking?" Which is probably what some people are saying, but I never said everyone feels this way. Christ. Make one broad generalization in response to a bunch of different people and everyone thinks you're talking about them personally. ;)

Ah, but this is the human race we're talking about DG, were everyone has an opinion and sex is the most unnatural thing in the world.

I found the puritan comment quite humorous, actually.

I was having a bad day to be perfectly honest. :P And was getting sick of the whole disliking certain outfits resulted in people calling me a prude, or believing that sex was unnatural and an abomination, and that I disliked the human body/was insecure with my own body. You just happened to make that comment at a bad time.

And yeah I'm in the "I would never wear that" crowd. Then again I'd wear black leather and a trenchcoat because that's how I roll so I'm not the most neutral party. :innocent:

Though fanservice isn't an issue. I just have an issue when it's forced on all players regardless of if someone actually likes the content or not (similar to the Miranda scene. The scenes that involve shots of her body with emphasis on her curves I have no problem with during romance scenes. During something that is supposed to be serious *helping her sister* I find it crude.)

It's called ego, who would not want to think the Bioware staff are talking to them personally

It's only one thing in a much larger package. Now its obviously up to you if you want it to detract from the overall experiance of the game, or instead accept it as being a part of the game and move on to better things.

Frankly it would detract regardless. I would simply ignore it in the latter case. (Sort of like with Miranda. She's my favorite character but by god do I loathe some of the fanservice she carries around).

It's like you're eating a great sandwich but you realize some of the lettuce is brown and tastes nasty. You take out the lettuce and eat the rest of the sandwich and enjoy it but for that moment it soured your whole interpretation of the sandwich.  You go from "this is delicious!" to "...ew."

I agree with wulfsturm and you, you are correct it's only one thing in a much larger package, but it was presented at an inappropriate moment.

Well, I can see were you're coming from, but sometimes (and I hesitate to compare this game to real life) life gives you inappropriate moments. Then it becomes less about the moment itself, and more about how you conduct yourself during that moment.

I hope that makes sense.

Actually, I think someone in the Wheel of Time did it first.
