But the mages have had a big improvement, although still exposed where it counts, they seem to be wearing some sort of chainmail wrapped around or beneath their robes:

Her chest area must be impermeable to mortal weapons. A common trait in women.

At least she's covered her arms and legs relatively well... Besides, what kind of male warrior would aim for the chest? If the male-female opponent ratio is anything like in Origins, I think this is very practical :P

Probably the kind of male warrior that wanted to kill her.

She just has high HP. I personally can't take armour seriously in a game until we remove the HP mechanic, since 50 hitsby exploding fireballs  = nothing even remotely debilitating so long as you are left it >0 HP.

Well played, sir!
But of course I see the problem, but at least this is an improvement over not wearing anything protective...

No, no, it's a feminine trait. Walk up to any woman (preferably in a club, because clothes negate the impervious effect, and you want them as naked as possible), and just whack her in the chest. With anything. It'll bounce right off. Hell, if she's taking shots, she won't even feel it. She might punch you for copping a feel with a crowbar, though.

Anyone fighting her will be to distracted by it to be able to attack her. Its a very smart strategy if you think about it.

Bioware has said many times they don't do the bikini armor. Because it's not practical and are not interested.

So, how do we explain the pieces of armor which are far more sexy then pratical?

Do we have to? Their statement speaks to the extremes of that concept, not the concept itself.

*COUGH* Aribeth *COUGH* To be honest though, it is more subdued than something like. King's Bounty Armored Princess, haha.

What armors are you referring to? The mages, for instances, are only wearing slightly armored robes.

So they'll stop at the extreme because it's not pratical and they're not interested in doing it, but the level before extreme is ok because it's pratical and interesting? I mean the leather bra and skirt from Origins isn't a far cry from the chainmail bikini.

This was made even better by the fact that you could freeze someone and set them on fire at the same time.  Who cares about exposed boobs when the world permits nonsense like that?

The best thing is that Dalish leather armor, despite leaving the entire midsection exposed on females, actually provided more protection than the other sets because of the dexerity and defense bonuses.

No, although it is likely she'd have any where from mild to serious back problems.

Well, alright, although skintight chainmail doesn't protect either, except from dinner-grade cutlery. Sticks and Stones still break the bones. And so do swords.

Good chance it chafes, too.

That having been said, I like Bethany's outfit. *sigh* I'm such a dude...

Judging from the most recent video though, Bethany's breasts do seem smaller.

The thing that actually did irritate me slightly about DA:O was everyone's unfeasibly huge breasts.

I'm sad to see this seems to have been continued with at least Bethany - she'd need an industrial sports bra to prevent her taking out her own face if she even just broke into a light jog.

Breast size was totally mutable,  there was no constant.
