Is Dragon Age going to do that stupid thing where girl characters are ALWAYS dressed skimpily?

You know I see a lot of these types of threads around here. I wonder what it is about Bioware games that attracts that certain type of person who believes that political correctness should be forced onto the masses at gun point?

Really though I want to see a male equivalent to Isabela.

Just once. I'll never say anything bad again no matter how stupid I think the outfits lok.

Er...his outfit doesn't look ridiculous and fanservice-y.

You also can't even see his abs until he takes off his shirt. For which you must romance him.

He had some fanservice to him, but it wasn't constantly there like it is with Morrigan or Isabela.

Uh, Morrigan was the only one in a skimpy outfit. Most woman were in full dresses, or armor, or at least as covered up as the men.

Lack of skin exposure in strategic areas - doesn't count.

not really. it's common to see a lot of fanservice shots when the servier is female - a lot fo cleavage, panty shots, etc. I haven't played ME2 but I would wager there are no male panty shots in there.

Does the camera actually center on Jacob's butt and abs? I require proof. B)

It does, though I do not have proof on hand.  It isn't as bad as Miranda for example - it'll pan up from his thighs up to his chest when FemShep says, "Youve kept yourself in good shape" or something along those lines - unlike in Miranda's case where the camera will focus on her backside while she's talking about her sister.

But it's there.  The male fanservice character in Mass Effect 2 is clearly Thane, though.  They made a point of it.

Jacob works much better as a bro for ManShep.  Rayin Shepard and Jacob totally got beers at the Citadel.

Well, so did my female Shepard. They messed up some wiring in her head that made her talk all sexy like when she just wanted to have a conversation. I like Jacob once you get past that hurdle.

*feels nothing for Thane*

^The above.

He doesn't qualify.

Plus...his legs are...odd while Miranda/Isabela have it all going on.

Plus I played Dude Shep and I didn't really see any panning of Jacob's body. Just one scene that was a bit...odd where Shepard mentions Garrus being in shape but it's pretty brief and not on the levels of the "Investigate DAT ASS" option.

dude....what part of "he wears skintight cloth in vacuum environments and combat " did you miss? how is that not fanservice? Same for Thane actually, he was designed by Devs' admission to be female-aimed fanservice

^He's fanservice that widely missed the mark.

As did Thane for me anyways. He's...a weird looking...thing.

Oh god, yes.  The thing is, fanservice doesn't quite work that way for women I think.  I mean, I can't speak for all of us, but...  And Thane was way overdone too.  That line about a tongue in the mouth?  Gross, especially when you're picturing it as a forked tongue. :sick::sick:

Same with Varric and his chest hair.  Jacob, a lizard and a hairy dwarf?  BioWare, your female fanservice generator is broken.  LOL  Back off and just let Gaidalf the Grey sprinkle his sparkledust, that's really all we need.

Though you have to admit they hit the nail on the head with Alistair...well...they did for me anywaysthen again in the male's cases almost all of the fanservice is context approrpiate. That's not the case for Miranda. I hope that's the case for Isabela.

Who cares about Thane? He's not in DA2. And Varric? Please - all I need do is step into the local bar. Give me something drool-worthy.

If Miranda was an ugly woman who did all the same things (ass shots and the like) would that still be considered fanservice?

And Jacob had all the interesting qualities of a brick. Sorry Jacob fans. His busy dialogue has a trace of douchebagginess in it to. Forcing talks indeed. Wasn't aware it as such a pain to talk to me. >_>

Hey now, let's not get into fangirl wars and the game isn't even out yet.  I'd let Marian do the dwarf if it's an option.  I just don't think his hairy chest is the equivalent of Isabela's knockers.  Except I'll be trying to ignore them both.

And it was you who almost put me off Garrus too, talking about cloacas.  Bad yuki.  <_<

I think too much is being made of cloth and leather-- and the lack thereof.

Zevran is a male equivalent to Isabela.

If you mean 'a male companion who wears clothing into battle,' that would be Sky and Sagacious Zi.

If you mean 'BioWare, give me a half-naked dude to look at,' I assume we'll get a qunari companion in DA 3.
