Is Dragon Age going to do that stupid thing where girl characters are ALWAYS dressed skimpily?

Gee, I sure hope so haha.
Just kidding. I don't find the outfits to be to skimpy with the exception of Isabelle who has breasts the size of bowling balls. Looking at a picture iv got to say I am surprised when she jogs they don't smack her in the face and give her a concussion.

Hey now, let's not get into fangirl wars and the game isn't even out yet. I'd let Marian do the dwarf if it's an option. I just don't think his hairy chest is the equivalent of Isabela's knockers. Except I'll be trying to ignore them both.yukidama wrote...
And a broody elf with sparkly tattoos who hurts when touched and looks like he walked out of Final Fantasy isn't fanservice for teh ladiez?
And it was you who almost put me off Garrus too, talking about cloacas. Bad yuki. <_<
Lol, it wasn't a war or an intent to start one. Just saying if you showed me a picture of Varric and a picture of Fenris with no context and asked which one is the "fangirl bait" or the one that makes masses of women squee for no reason other than his appearance, there's not even a question who would win that.
CLOACA.

Really though I want to see a male equivalent to Isabela.
Just once. I'll never say anything bad again no matter how stupid I think the outfits lok.
Zevran is a male equivalent to Isabela.
If you mean 'a male companion who wears clothing into battle,' that would be Sky and Sagacious Zi.
If you mean 'BioWare, give me a half-naked dude to look at,' I assume we'll get a qunari companion in DA 3.
Yay!

I think the point here is whether female characters are ALWAYS in overly sexy outfits, as the thread title suggests.
No, they're not. It really depends on the character-- some are going to be sexy, while others are much more modest. Otherwise, while we may not toss out the bikini chain mail a la Frank Frazetta we aren't particularly opposed to having some sexy or revealing outfits. Every character in the game is pretty much idealized, and don't take much "realism" into account with regards to the protectiveness of their coverings.
In other words, we're not going to lace everyone up to the collar and cover their ankles just so some folks don't get into a huff.
Thank goodness

Er...his outfit doesn't look ridiculous and fanservice-y.
You also can't even see his abs until he takes off his shirt. For which you must romance him.
He had some fanservice to him, but it wasn't constantly there like it is with Morrigan or Isabela.
^The above.
He doesn't qualify.
Plus...his legs are...odd while Miranda/Isabela have it all going on.
Plus I played Dude Shep and I didn't really see any panning of Jacob's body. Just one scene that was a bit...odd where Shepard mentions Garrus being in shape but it's pretty brief and not on the levels of the "Investigate DAT ASS" option.
dude....what part of "he wears skintight cloth in vacuum environments and combat " did you miss? how is that not fanservice? Same for Thane actually, he was designed by Devs' admission to be female-aimed fanservice
That's still not really fanservice. Undergarments or unusal amount flesh showing, specifically with the intent of luring or pleasing fans of the opposite gender (or same, if that's who they are after

Yeah, I'm going to agree. Creating someone people like is not fanservice. It's usually the things that have no bearing on the character or story that are considered fanservice. Panty shots, for instance, are fanservice. A beautiful woman is not. A beautiful woman lounging around in her underwear for no reason, is.
This.
All those bishies considered fanservice have either ho yay undertones with another character (fanservice for yaoi fangirls) or a shirtless scene.

The point is "for no reason." If he's not wearing a shirt for no reason, then yes.
This. Jacob's shirtless scene is because he and FemShep are about to get busy.

And the close-ups of his glutes and abbs?
Not as "bad" as Miranda sometimes, but they're still there.

I didn't notice any close ups on his chest that were like "badumbadum hunky man chest for the laadiiiess", and if you did, I hope you're more secure in yourself than that implies.I did notice a shirtless sit up scene in one of the DLC, so you got Jacob fanservice if you paid.
I didn't notice any close up of her backside that were like "badumbadum sexy lady back for the mennnnsss", and if you did, I hope you're more secure in yourself than that implies.
See? I can do it too.

I did notice a couple of gratuitous Garrus buttshots, which made me laugh, but they weren't anywhere near as obvious as the Miranda conversations.

That's why I think you're upset, you think there's a double standard and there isn't one. And yes, we can definitely point out several scenes where her ass is perfectly in frame. It's okay that you like it, you don't need to harp on women and their supposed fanservice to justify that. That's why it's there.
1. I'm not upset, don't presume to know how I feel.
2. There is a double standard going on, when people like you refuse to look at the other side of the coin (women getting fansevervice in BioWare games.)
3. I can definetly point out several scenes were Jacobs ass is perfectly in frame.
4. Trying to insist that I am a homosexual for noticing details that help my arguments is at best flawed, and at worst indicitive of a weak argument and immature.
5. I'm not "harping" on anything, just pointing something out.

There, I think that covers anything - now do you still want to keep on dancing? Because I can do this all night.

Edit for point: It doesn't work the same way with most women, I'd wager. I would not have wanted to encounter Zevran wearing skin-tight pants and a nipple ring. As it is, in his armor, he was sexy. It's when they try too hard that things get ugly. Literally.

If you go out of your way to reply to a statement that was in no way a reply to you, which had no aggressive subtext with an aggressive subtext, something about the post triggered an emotional response. Curt statements are also a warning sign for not being okay with something, and being very defensive about it to a point of not having any valid arguments outside of "you're a big meanie" is the juvenile response to being wrong.
You agreed that whatever "fanservice" is available for Jacob, it is still not in the severity of Miranda. So all your points about it merely existing that is the flaw in our logic puzzles me.
As for the request to dance, I've two left feet.

As I said before, why would I be angry about about someone I don't know, will never know, nor care to know? I'm sorry, but you're just not that important. I bolded the numbers in my list to add punctuation, nothing more. I never said that Jacob's fanservice merely existing is the flaw in your logic, I said that you were not even trying to see the other side of the equation, that there was female fanservice to begin with. And the double standards you were making for not aknowlodgeing said fanservice.
And to the rest of your diatribe? Leave the psychoanalytical clap-trap to the proffesionals if you would, you're just embarassing yourself.
