When you first meet Morrigan, and she takes you to meet Flemeth, Daveth (I think), shows hesitation about going with her, something about her cooking them or something along those lines and Ser jory mentions how cold it is and if it were warmer than the wilds, he would happily go. So, I would say it was winter, or a cold part of fall So, Addai67 is correct about it being cold.

Right, Daveth mentions the witch cooking them in a pot and Jory says "if it's warmer than this forest..." etc.  And then there is the fact that in TST the marshes are associated with a cold mist.

But why bother with facts when there's sideboob to be had.  Posted Image

*yawn* I bet Morrigan and her "momma" knows better.

(And yes, anything for sideboob!)

So in a GAME where people conjure fireballs, scream and knock back all enemies 20 meters (while somehow not effecting allies), instantly heal mortal wounds, get shot by 20 arrows with absolutely no physical impairment at all, must fight demons made of fire, the walking dead, and a corrupted old god, we are going to draw the line of realism that a ****ty woman who uses sex as a weapon could not possibly wear revealing clothes because it's cold outside.

Right...

I'm going to start shaking people.

First of all, the "it's a fantasy!" excuse is weak and pathetic, and I've enumerated why so many times that you'll just have to live without me doing it now and isn't that just awful? I'm sure you'll pull through, just like Ole Yeller.

Second, I mentioned the only problem I had with Morrigan's outfit--the only one--is that it is cold were she lives. You know, when I first saw her, I though "brr, must be cold, huh?". Not "BURN THAT WITCH, SHE'S NAKED!" So get off your high horse, it's been beaten into the ground.

This thread needs a lock big time.

I think we should make a poll whether people want skimpily/sexy clad girls/guys in the game or rather 'realisticly properly armored' ones. I know what I would vote for.

Can I vote for both?

Of course ... not. How would that make sense? Also there is no use for realistic armor in games and everyone who feels utterly annoyed by that should do something different than playing video games. Being realistic is entirely not the purpose of video games.

Is it possible to make a poll in this forum? Would be interesting to see the result.

This argument always gets brought up.  Of course it's just a story, just a game, etc.  I don't want a brush-your-teeth minigame or dreary reality.  There are just some things that bother.  It's like when you have a tic in your eye or a papercut.  You're not going to fall apart, but after a while it can seem like the only thing that matters.

I think people play differently and want different things.  You may not notice the aesthetics of your game much.  Whereas I liked to color coordinate my crew whenver possible.  Posted Image  And some of the gameplay combat whatsits that people talk about on here and rage over, I never even notice.  That's why having as much customization as possible is nice.  You can have your battle sl-ts and I can have my chick posse in cool armor.  Toggles galore!!!

You can, but I'm not sure what it would prove. Would you not buy the game if Isabela wore pants?

Well, DA is fantasy for me. A faery tale. If I want realism to the extreme I go take a walk or play IL-2 combat flight simulation.

It would be great if Bioware could make two versions of every character. One in burgha-level armoured and one fantasy version.

I have already bought and paid of Signature Edition. I have plans to play it also. Would had just been interesting to see what the majority of voters want.

Will you not buy it because of the outfit she wears now? This is a pointless discussion. Bioware do things for only one reason, they think their customers like it that way. It's always just a vocal minority complaining, and to prove that a poll would be an excellent means.

Actually, Scotland on the whole has similar average temperatures to OHIO, since, you know, the whole of Europe is sitting dead center in a huge warm water stream known as the "Gulf Stream" that greatly moderates the temperatures on the entire continent.

Scotland average temps by month (In Celsius)
Jan 2, Feb 3, March 6, April 8, May 11, June 14, July 16, August 16, September 13, October 10, November 7, December 4

Dayton, Ohio average temps by month (In Celsius)
Jan -3, Feb -2, March 5, April 10, May 16, June 21, July 23, August 22, September 18, October 12, November 6, December 0

Note how it's hotter in Ohio in the summer and colder in the winter--and Ohio is actually pretty temperate/mild by Midwest standards.  As far as us land-locked types are concerned, you Brits don't know crap about cold--or hot.

The argument gets brought up a lot because it is quite compelling.  If a fantasy gamer is capable of willingly suspending disbelief as their hero is capable of withstand getting stomped on by orgres, bashed by dragonbone mauls, burned by magic fireballs, and being munched on by a gargantuan dragon, but not wearing a ****ty outfit then people might be struck by the rather stark inconsistency.

For what it's worth, part of me agrees with you.  I do notice aesthetics.  I hate helmets.  If there was no "no helmet mod", I wouldn't wear them, I don't care how powerful they are.  I won't wear armor if I think it looks stupid.  Blood armor maybe power powerful, but I never wore it.  I stopped playing one game because I wasn't happy with one character's hairstyle.

And I too think there should be both battle ****s and chicks in cool armor.

What I'm not keen on is when people don't recongize it is, as you say, a tick in YOUR eye (i.e. a personal preference) and argue rather vehemently that there is no way Morrigan should be dressed as she is in a game where she will shoot lightning bolts out of her ass.

Because everyone in history wore full platemail into battle?

Especially someone who say... fights like a rogue?

I think the majority is personal taste and not, in fact, realism factoring.

Tunic dress and thigh high boots = battle tramp.

Armor = cool chick

I think that says a lot, to be honest.

The argument gets brought up a lot because it is rather compelling.  When
a woman is able to withstand an Ogre's smashing blow, a dragonbone maul blow to
her head, a magic firestorm which consumes her in flame, and being chewed on by
a gargantuan dragon just fine but have a problem wearing ****ty outfits, people
will point out the stark inconsistency.

For what's it's worth, part of me does agree with you.  I notice
aesthetics.  I hate helmets.  If there was no "no helmet
mods," I wouldn't wear them, I don;t care how powerful they are.
Blood Dragon armor may be powerful, but I've never worn it because I think it
look dumb.  I once restarted a game simply because I disliked my
character's hairstyle.

And, I too, think there should be battle ****s and cool chicks in armor.

That being said, I do recognize that my tastes are, as you say, like a tic in
YOUR eye (i.e. personalized, what's not cool for me may be cool for you).
So I'm not keen on people arguing vehemently in this make believe fantasy game
that there is no way Morrigann should be traipsing around in her revealing
clothes because of battle effectiveness or climate when this is the same woman
who shoots lightning bolts out of her ass and is a **** and uses sex for
personal gain.

If they could afford it, and it wasn't technically obsolete or unfeasible, yes, they did. Most rank and file didn't because the things were expensive and hard to make, and settled up with a high variety of cheaper options, such as boiled leather, chainmail, or shields.

If she fights like a rogue why doesn't she wear like armor like a combat rogue?
That's all I'm asking for: for the duelist to look the part: a padded cloth vest and a wide-brimmed hat. Is that too much to ask?
