Is Dragon Age going to do that stupid thing where girl characters are ALWAYS dressed skimpily?

speaking of Fanservice......would girls consider Tusk from killer instinct fanservice? is THAT what it takes?

Lol no. :D

The reason that is not fanservice is because that character was made with males in mind. It was ment to appeal to men so that they could "roleplay" better, similar to Kratos in God of War. In a game like that many men find it easier to connect to a more manly man. Kratos is certainly NOT fanservice just because he runs around shirtless.

A better idea of fanservice for females would be some like in a chick flick or romance novel where the female protagonist say, has to get her oil changed or some other small task she could do herself but can't be bothered so she hires help, or in this case, goes to a shop. Said help happens to be an extremely sexy, good looking, well built man. And don't you know its only 120 degrees F outside? So of course he is sweating bullets and walks around shirtless. Cue the camera focusing on hot, naked, sweating skin. THAT would be female fan service.

Lol, looks like no wuzz business woman. A little bit too much for my tastes so I doubt I will have awesome "romance" with Isabella in DA2. Maybe will just get "some experiences" xD

Anyway, this was very interesting since as you know we have discussed a lot about certain changes in DA2 when compared to previous Bioware games. I for one begin to be quite confident that the choises made has been good, and I wont miss a bit about possibility to wear some crap armour for Isabella. She appears to be very well done character and to make her better with changeable armour would had required a lot of work and the result might had been worse. For example in DA I hated to "upgrade" Morri's robes with some crap clown robes. This new thinking how characters keep the same clothes appears to be also more realistical than very artificial and gamy "yay me got +1 plate mail, soon me get +2 plate".*

* Well of course quality counts and +1, +2 and so on armour can describe quality levels making difference what matters. However Isabella appears to have personality and personal equipment she has chosen and break in, making further upgrades unnecessary and undesirable. This is also a fantasy game and as such it looks damn awesome and for sure I don't miss "realism" regarding her equipment but rather want to experience the fantasy BioWare has created. Life consists of small things in the end, and I feel very privileged to be able to play DA2 in the future. And as for now, I will wait for it like no other game ever before.

There's some dark-haired bishie that is clearly the evil counterpart/Foe yay fodder since he's wearing black :P Dunno how scantily clad he is though, the quality wasn't that great.

All in all, as long as I don't have to see the creepy relationship between Snow and his jailbait kawaii waif girlfriend, I'll be happy.

What bugs me about JRPGs is that their nudity levels aren't really indicative of their character. The bombshell vixens and the virginal ditzy girls could all be wearing thongs and pasties.

Yay *squees*

Oh god yeah. Pedo Snow.

Yup. Remember 12 with serious Fran wearing a literal chainmail bikini?

She had buns of steel.

Then again Vaan running around with that...chain shirt with his whole chest exposed balanced it out *as did Basch and that hole in his shirt for no reason other than to show those smexy abs*

I would rather have Akihiko Yoshida design every FF thing from now on. Fran was good, cohesive design, if gratuitous, whereas Lightning... appears to have duct taped armor of several different styles to a bathing suit in an attempt to cosplay as herself. Costume design has to be consistent with the world and consistent within itself. Ugh it makes me sad.

Did the male lead not have armor similar to Lightening's?

See I can't really judge without seeing a trailer. *pouts* Damn you squareenix for taking it down.

As for Fran yes her armor made sense but honestly did Basch's outfit make any sense? It didn't to me. I mean at first yeah but after a time he should've gotten more decent clothing (other than snagging Gabranth's armor).

I agree, Basch's did not make much sense. But it had some nice elements. It looked like they tried to make armor that would be comfortable for the supposedly summery climate, which was interesting. And you can't argue with tassels.

Now with context that doesn't seem bad at all. The shot focused on her awakening did a whole body shot and I really saw more focus on the wing on her thigh than her ass itself.

And that seems more like a dress to me than a random cloth strip.

Also...her rival was yum. Too bad we couldn't see more of him.

Then why not take a shot of it from the other side or at an angle that doesn't make that the focus? They're showing a lot of leg. I won't begrudge them that, but leg and ass is still leg and ass.

Ah JRPGs always have a bit of fanservice though. That I won't deny. They do however attempt (if slightly) to equalize the fanservice.

So I take that as "there's going to be something similar for the dude." than get offended.

Plus for some reason I found that really sexy. Isabela on the other hand just annoys me. Double standards I know.

Leg and ass of a character who would not bare leg and ass. D:

I liked Fang the best out of all the characters because she seemed like she would voluntarily wear what she was wearing. Vanille's costume was a nearily direct copy of some of the clothing of the Himba tribe of Namibia (subjectively NSFW if you google, the women do not wear shirts), juxtaposed with pop-star hair. That black haired bad guy has golf gloves. It's bits and pieces of things that just don't make sense together.

The thing is we don't know *why* she's in that outfit. It looks like from the trailer that she just woke up in it (either that or remembering the past). And she doesn't have wings in the original game (last I checked) so there's a lot of holes there.

That said it's personal preference.

I do give JRPGs more leeway than WRPGs.

Side-ass is a great new term! And naturally I have had eye for it from several angles a long long time, as you may guess. But you would be surprised how many different terms you would have to invent for my ability to see fascinating beaty in women.

(Sadly there is just no side-ass to mention in that picture.)

The problem is, they rarely answer "why."  And if they do, it raises more questions.
Why does she wear that shoulder pad? She's a soldier. Then why is she in a miniskirt?
Why are Fang and Vanille in less-than-futuristic outfits? Because they've been frozen since some time in the distant past. Then wouldn't they be wearing similarly styled clothes?
Why does Snow have a scarf? Probably because they needed a reason for him to be named Snow. Even though they live on a beach.

Like designing a car, every element has to have a purpose or a reason for being there. It's like writing a short story. Every word must contribute to the story because there is not room for extras.

Ah true. It's just stylized. They're not pretending that it's signficiant I am.

True. It's there because it looks beautiful. Very appealing.

Though the wing probably is explained...somewhat. I mean...Sephiorth's kind of was.

Though to be perfectly honest it's probably rule of cool and rule of sexy.

The difference between them and BW is to me at least their armor is actually good looking while BW's is various degress of "meh." with the occasion "ew...who the hell would wear that?" thrown in.

They do everything because they think they look more attractive that way. Just like people in general in real life. And like someone here said, Isaballe stopped caring when she realized someone will always revive her.

It is like motorcycling. Everyone knows good gear is the second best life insurance after good skills. Still many don't give a McMuffin what motorcycling gear they wear.

Yeah, she's extremely thin. I'd rather she have a flat ass than a badonkadonk and huge chest without the midsection and legs to support them

Yeah...that's probably why I'm less bothered. She has average proportions and there's really no emphasis on her other than that shot. (and really the wing was more attention grabbing than her thigh to me).

Well, Isabela does have big assets but she also has a thicker body type in general. I wouldn't call Lightning's proportions average unless we're talking about fashion models, though.

Hm...well maybe I've seen people with different bodies then. I mean her chest isn't that large (or at least it's not so in your face) and she has a modest behind.

As for Isabela. Those boobs are just...huge. Thick or not.

Or maybe I'm just around a lot of big breasted females. :?

Nope. Told you already about my bias.

If Fenris had his chest exposed then Isabela's outfit would be okay.
