Is Dragon Age going to do that stupid thing where girl characters are ALWAYS dressed skimpily?

I'm not saying that Lighting is unrealistic looking, just that average isn't really the idealized Twiggy waif look, long limbed and very thin. She's no Tifa Lockhart or Super Robot Taisen character that's for sure (thank god).

I guess I find Isabela's body type more "average" (but still idealized) because I'm from the Caribbean and I see more women that have similar body types (large chest, big butt and thick waists and thighs) than I see Lighting's.

Average!? Huh, I will have to move to Caribbean. And quicly!

(But now I need to think something else, I begin to hate myself for going on so much of looks.)

I don't care about the rights of dwarves.

I do think it's condescending to tell someone that their attraction to a character simply doesn't count because you don't share the attraction. Both Thane and Varric have exposed chests. There are female and male fans who find them good looking. They are eye-candy, the same way Fenris is.

If BioWare creates good-looking female characters and has them show a bit of skin, it's fair to do the same for male characters. They're not obliged to meet the desires of any specific individual, however.

I am as guilty of the personal taste issue as you, or anyone else on this forum. I will openly admit it. Like I said, I have a huge issue with Fenris not having shoes. It bugs me. Not to the point I am going to let it annoy me, though. I know it's part of his character creation and I accept that. I just wish some people would admit it, too and not use other excuses for it.

Oh, and I understand about the Miranda thing, too. I wanted to scream at the screen, "YES, WE KNOW THEY MADE YOU TO BE PERFECT!" but, meh. It was quick flashes, not minutes upon minutes of butt. A small part of a game that I enjoyed greatly, a small part that took nothing from my experience.

Ha. I did it too at first.

Ah true I admit it as well. ...And I was trying to ignore the fact that Fenris doesn't have shoes. =]

It wasn't a quick flash though. The screen stayed on that until you picked another option. So if I wanted to actually think about it I had to stare at her ass the whole time.

Edit: So my words aren't taken out of context I didn't "have" to stare but well the screen stayed focused on it.

And I'm more finicky that small part totally ripped me out of the game and made me not take the character seriously for a good while.

I take her seriously now of course but I just shake my head and sigh whenever that comes up. It soured my enjoyment.

Which is probably why with the new characters reacting to your decisions and being closer to people you take with you the chances of me recruiting Isabela are slim (which is why frankly I'm not so bothered with her clothing anymore.) So to each their own.

Though ya Sebastian. A rogue in armor. <3

I never said someone's attraction didn't count. Nor did I say BW had to meet my desires.

I personally don't see the appeal. That's all. I apologized for my poor choice in words.

And Isabela doesn't show a "bit" of skin. She shows a fair margin. Far more than Varric at any rate. You see more hair than skin with Varric.

Hahaha, I am almost driven to read spoilers on "how to get Isabella in three minutes." If something is certain, then Isabella will be static member in my team (unless there is something in her person I can't stand).

I believe you can get her as early as level 4?

Or at least I saw some screenies with Hawke having her in the party at level 4.

So you probably can get her pretty early probably when you've been in Kirkwall for a brief time.

No, she doesn't show that much. She shows some and covers much, but she shows quite tastefully* and covers quite, how it is said, covers quite in a way rising me in flames.

Personal preference I guess.

To me a bit of skin is simply clevage, bare shoulders and an exposed belly. (Basically a bra for a top.) Jack shows a bit of skin. (with the effect ruined by all those low rez tats, no the tats aren't ugly but why are they so low rez?).

Though I don't share your experience with Isabela I do recongnize the reaction.

Though to be honest my issue isn't so much with her clothes as it is the fact I find her clothes unappealing (not because of the cleveage or even the shortness I just think it's ugly) beause now that I'm thinking of all the far more skimpy outfits that I found cute in JRPGs...

They do everything because they think they look more attractive that way.

That is not a good enough reason. They're designing a costume for an imaginary person that you only get to learn so much about in the context of the game. Costume design aids character development if it makes sense that the character would wear it, because that way information about that character can be communicated at a glance. You don't have a lifetime to get to know Lightning or any other fictional character, so why have them wear clothes that, well, lie about their character?

We could tell Varric was sauve, secure and confident because of his hairstyle, jewelry, shirt, and snazzy as all get out jacket without knowing more than the fact that he exists and this is what he looks like.

Form follows function and the function of costume design is to tell a story that matches the writers'.

Ah, now I understood what you meant. I however forgot your questions.

It is related to psychology and I am not sure can I express my desires to discuss in detail their stuff without loosing my street creditability xD

Well, Isabela does have big assets but she also has a thicker body type in general. I wouldn't call Lightning's proportions average unless we're talking about fashion models, though.

Does she?  I think she looks really unproportional, but I guess we'll have to wait for the actual game.  That's one of my objections, that she's watermelons on a toothpick and while some find that attractive, for me it's distracting because I'm looking at her waiting for her to fall over.  The shot of Marian had her looking nicely proportional, so it stands out even more and makes Isabela look like fetish fuel more than a real character.

Oh, and I support dwarven romance!   I think you're right that the other races are people in the sense of "persons."  I see the other races in DA as just a different way to look at humans.

Well, yeah.

She definitely has a large chest and has a more pronounced hourglass figure, but she doesn't strike me as a toothpick, especially looking at her thighs and hips and more defined arms. I've seen thinner people with chests about that size so it doesn't strike me as totally unrealistic as much as idealized.

*wonders if she would be perverted if the first thing when she thought upon seeing that screenshot was if pulling the string on Isabela's shirt completely took it off*

Isabella does not have huge juggs people, jeez. So much of what we are analyzing is a limited number of screenshots and angles of her.

When viewed straight on, she's slightly larger than average.

Breast size must be a regional thing. :?   I see Isabella's everyday. By that I mean voluptuous or robustly built women. She's no waif, she's a big woman so the bust size fits imo.

I can only say Isabella is fine and I will have to think about fanboying BioWare fanatically as a way of paying them more than I can of the game. Hmm, but not fanatically, intelligently, yes.

Good grief, I feel like Isabela's breasts are almost ripping that poor string. About the kiss picture, I'd like to point that it feels more... real. I never liked the kissed in DA: O, probably because there was no lips touching, and I feel that if there was it would be a show of crippling.

No need to look worried or something. You just told great news! Now just tell where you live :)

Has anyone by the way thought how it would be to open those things in Isabella's shoes? There is quite some all the way on her leg. I can only imagine at times not being able to open them and at times opening them very slowly one by one xD
