Oh no I wasn't trying to say anything about you I was just saying in general lol sorry if you thought I meant you. I'm not saying her clothes belong to a saint but some people act like she's walking around naked!!!John Forseti wrote...

This is nothing omg! People are crazy! Oh yeah she just a naked little **** my eyes are forever messed up and playing a charcter like this would be so boring!!!
I'm not trying to make a value judgement of her "wardrobe" I just agree that calling it modest, or saying "it just shows a bit of arm" is a bad description.
Is Dragon Age going to do that stupid thing where girl characters are ALWAYS dressed skimpily?

Come on guys I'm sure there is a way for Hawke to tell his/her companions that "They need to dress more battle appropriate". Maybe you can give Varric a medieval argyle sweater vest or give Isabella sweatpants made of burlap. In DA:O you could give Zevran a chastity belt.
Hahahaha I love your ideas!!!
But I mean everything should be player choice lol if we want to see skin let us, if we rather we didn't then well we can get to that later

Honestly though I would not make them do that. I mean Isabelle looks like she should very pirate like. Varrics excessive chest hair......well heres what I think is going on in his opponents head when they are about face him "I never knew bears could cross breed with dwarves." or if they're Qunari they're thinking " I envy his chest hair all I get is a set of abs and horns"jamirflyd2 wrote...

I think the point here is whether female characters are ALWAYS in overly sexy outfits, as the thread title suggests.
No, they're not. It really depends on the character-- some are going to be sexy, while others are much more modest. Otherwise, while we may not toss out the bikini chain mail a la Frank Frazetta we aren't particularly opposed to having some sexy or revealing outfits. Every character in the game is pretty much idealized, and don't take much "realism" into account with regards to the protectiveness of their coverings.
In other words, we're not going to lace everyone up to the collar and cover their ankles just so some folks don't get into a huff.
I really very seriously hope you guys go back to more Dragon age Origins style in the future -.- This "idealized" thing is making me cringe.

I'll interpret that as you suggesting characters in Origins weren't idealized... which is a little bizarre. And I'm really not sure which part of DA2 you think is so different in this respect.

I think maybe it's a matter of character comparision? In DA:O, we saw females like Wynne and Anora conservatively dressed, and even Leliana makes her first appearence dressed as a Chantry nun... This made Morrigan's really stand out in comparison. These outfit choices made sense, of course, because some characters don't nessacarily want to be dressed provacatively. (Especially Wynne and Anora. Though maybe if we'd seen Wynne a few years earilier... *ahem*)
Oh, what I'm trying to say is, maybe some people are shocked to see more provacative women in DA2? In DA:O, we only really had Morrigan, and Morrigan's outfit wouldn't have been quite so shocking if Bethany and re-visioned Isabela had been there! So, while it's great that we have more females who are comfortable with their bodies and want to show them off, I can understand where some people think it's taking different turn from DA:O.
Personally, I only feel uncomfortable when I look at Bethany, since I'm supposed to play her older brother or sister! In real life, when my little sisters dress provocatively, I always say something, or encourage them to wear sweaters... Of course, this only encourages them to take off even more clothing, so maybe I'll just let Bethany dress the way she wants, haha.

True, but given the way item stats worked Leliana probably spent most of most people's games in one of those bare-midriff light armor outfits.

I hope that there is one set of skimpy armor just for the lolz...let it be a lvl 1 armor that levels as you do, would make me very happy.
I still think that the power of Varric's chesthair is not to be underestimated...who knows how strong that stuff is.

More provocative women in DA2? Based on what?
Isabela is certainly showing some skin, no question. Bethany shows some cleavage, but not even that much (unless you're going strictly by the exaggerated version of her) and certainly no more than your average character in Origins. Beyond that you've seen Merrill and Aveline, who are about as un-provacative as I imagine one could be. The only other female character we've shown is the female templar, who is just as heavily armored as Aveline is.
Come to think of it, I think this exact same thread popped up when we revealed Morrigan the first time. Isabela is no more representative of how women dress in DA2 than Morrigan was for Origins.

That's not good enough, if you see any skin that is not on the face, then it's too provocative. I expect to see female characters dressed up as nuns basically.David Gaider wrote...
