If your going to play on insanity, you have to play as the soldier or infiltrator, because the effects of powers don't effect enemies when they have protection, which makes the blackstorm 80 round clip + adrenaline rush your best friend, with whatever ammo power. Makes insanity feel like normal in any other game

Yeah, I've gotta' agree that this is a load of crap.  I've played Insanity with the Adept, Engineer, Sentinel, Soldier and Infiltrator, and the Adept is the only class I've finished an Insanity run with.  Not only that, but I immediately started a second run with it after finishing because I had so much fun (which is part of the reason why I haven't finished with the others yet).  The only class I'm hesitant to play on Insanity is the Vanguard, and that's just because I know I'm too reckless with the charge and I'd get frustrated with all the deaths.  That's a case of player error, though.  Nothing wrong with the class.

I think one thing people are missing about Adept is that you shouldn't be spamming warp like an idiot. Singularity is your best friend, It easily locks down anything and trivializes some fights.

Once you get the hang of using Singularity as a CC and focusing on one person to explode the game becomes much easier.

Once you learn how to properly set up a warp bomb or CC chain (and I don't play with Stasis; tried it, didn't like it; I'm talking Singularity and/or Pull/Throw shenanigans), the Adept becomes ridiculously easy to play. Sometimes it feels like cheating. I know there are some people that just don't enjoy the play style of the Adept and that's fine, but the people who come on here saying it's unplayable on Insanity? It sounds like they need to try not sucking instead of assuming it's the class's fault they can't make any headway.

all the classes are easy enough to play on insanity. just depends on how you want to play.

I enjoyed my playthrough as an Engineer on Insanity difficulty. Fairly difficult in some places, but the drone is your best friend.

Vanguard is easier on Hardcore/Insanity IMHO. Enemies have defenses, so they won't be flying all over the place when Charging. Instead they're stunned and keep still for a brief moment - easy point blank shotgun headshots; and (unless you're using the Scimitar) there are few enemies still standing after that.

I wouldn't say that haha, while enemy flying back after Charge is really annoying thing, especially since I really love the close-up oneshot kills, you still take a lot more damage than on Veteran or whatever.

As long as you take damage slower than charge regens it doesn't matter. :)  I actually do find it easier on hardcore/insanity as a charging vanguard.  If I use all my powers, then veteren and weaker I find a bit easier.

Playing Vanguard recklessly on insanity is the only way to go. Honestly, I don't think any other class has the potential to clear a field as fast as a Vanguard. Like you said though, you do end up dying more often than with others.

I've completed Insanity with Vanguard, Adept and Infiltrator and played portions with Sentinel and Soldier and have enjoyed all of them. From what you have said I would say Infiltrator is a great option. Cloaking is a lot of fun and the power-assisted shooting focus allows a similar play style to the soldier so it won't be an unmanageable departure from what you've been doing before. I say this as learning a totally different class and coping with the jump in difficulty could be problematic. In my Infiltrator Insanity run I chose to specialize in shotguns instead of the widow and had loads of fun sneaking in for up close kills and using the perfectly capable Viper for my long range efforts.

Had loads of fun with Adept and would strongly recommend it but its a totally opposite play style from soldier. You need to master stripping defences with squadmate powers and your guns then going for the powers when the time is right for some seriously stylish stuff (Singularity-Warp detonations were the go-to tricks.) If that sounds appealing, get in there and have fun. Those 2 were my favourites. I struggled through my first Insanity run as Vanguard where as somebody else mentioned I was being too reckless and dying a lot. I ended up being more cautious and not using charge as much as I would have liked. I like the Vanguard class and am currently playing with it again and having an easier time but I will probably never be cut out for playing it as aggressively as I have seen in some vids and getting away with it.

Insanity isn't too tough. Though there are a couple parts of the game that can be frustrating. It plays the same really, though it's pretty much mandatory you stay in good cover.

I've just about beat it on Insanity now, just have to do the Suicide mission. Soldier seems like the way to go. Though frankly I gotta admit without Shield Boost/Barrier/Armor I really don't see how you can get thru Insanity other then by a lot of sheer dumb luck. Horizon was rather grueling, but I've played thru harder games on max difficulty. Of course I don't play around with ammo powers too much as Inferno is generally the way to go for most situations. The big difference on Insanity is the added defenses, which makes what was once weak enemies far more challenging. LOKI mechs for example have armor and all the Mercs have some kind of Shields.

You can probably get thru Insanity with any class, though Vanguard seems like it would be extremely tricky. I know a lot of people like Inflitrator, but I really don't find Cloak that helpful, and Snipers are especially ammo short on Insanity for taking down enemies. SMGs are going to be your best friend since they get rid of shields and barriers fairly well. But I just have too much fun with the Revenant and Adrenaline Rush to care for much else.

Call me crazy, but in retrospect I really do feel like ME2 should be played on Insanity. It's just a lot more rewarding and enemies are actually dangerous. ME2 on normal is perhaps too easy. I dunno.

How hard exactly is Insanity, compare it to a different game.

That's impossible, each game requires different approach, you might be great at this game, but not that game etc.

In any case, Mass Effect 2 is certainly one of the easier games I have played. For example Unreal Tournament on Godlike is definitely more challenging IMHO.

I finally got brave enough to play on insanity. I'm going with the Sentinel. I like the class because it can counter all defenses. A great class to start with for a first-timer.

Not to mention Tech Armor.

Sentinel doesn't start out the strongest, but when you upgrade Tech Armor you almost can't die.

I personally think Infiltrator or Soldier would be easiest for insanity.

Assault Armor Sentinel  = Easy mode.

If you get the hang of it, the Vanguard is a wrecking ball with his 2x damage multiplier for being close and constant shield-regen.

Infiltrators are easy aswell since they get a time-slowdown everytime they scope. That and they can hide from the enemies with cloak.

Engineers can distract any enemy (except for the Praetorian and Terminator as far as I'm aware) which is a big plus there.

Soldiers, especially the sniper soldier have an easy time aswell.

The only class I truly consider "hard" would be the Adept, but that's fairly easy once you've levelled Singularity.

Just pick a class and have fun - they all have their own strengths and weaknesses
