I am playing my games (Witcher, Dragon Age, Myst) and my husband has his games (Counter Strike, Call of Duty), so we really can't "play" together, but when he is playing, I am not angry with him for sitting by a computer all day, I rather go to my PC play DA and prevent a homefight
IMHO compromise is all thats needed when people have different priorities

As far as compromises, we take turns since we're both playing DA:O. The other either watches or plays console games or does some other nerdy hobby.

If you're a gamer, why be with anyone who's not a gamer? They just don't understand the thrill of an hour long boss fight or a spending a day dungeon crawling. Or the frustration when the controls don't work like they're supposed too.

Sharing is tough! My girlfriend got hooked on DA, and now it's a fight for the computer whenever we're both there. She prefers console games, so I'm actually considering just picking up a copy of DA for the xbox and letting her play on that, but then she'd have to start over again, and it's doubtful she'd want to do that.

If you couldn't take 10-15 minutes out to talk to your girlfriend, I don't think the game was the problem.

I don't get this comment since you could just buy DA:O for the console. Unless you mean the Wii ... In fact, if both of you prefer it on PC you could STILL just play it on the console as a backup while waiting for your shot at the PC...Aundril wrote...

My pregnant fiance plays the game more than I do.
My G/F plays the PC version while I play the 360 version.
She has a laptop...but It couldn't even dream of playing it...so I'm stuck on the 360!

I could, but never been into buying the different console versions just to share. That's an extra $50 bucks that could go to a different game entirely and expand my gaming library. Don't want a library filled with duplicates.
'Sides, there's no arguing over who gets to play. Geeks can be understanding.
Seriously though, I've heard of too many couples ending essentially one person gaming and the other one doesn't. Or one making the other "grow up" and get rid of all their gear.
You don't have to have everything in common, but it owning a D20 or a console should at least be a pre-requisite.

There needs to be a new word invented
Perhaps "Better than you"s or "Cool" or "REAL" people or something

Now she's calling me and going out of her way to show how she feels about me, so... yeah, thanks Bioware! I might have scared her off if I weren't up until 4am every night playing this damn game.

He obviously didn't care for her all that much. If he did, he would have been in the car driving 4 hours every night!
I agree with the first part totally not the second.
As far as this topic goes though, lame. If my girlfriend tells me to stop playing I stop playing, its a game and I have tons of time to beat it.
Mind you she is the type of girl that doesnt mind that I play Video games, she usually does her homework, drawing the comic we are working on, etc lots of other stuff.......this isnt to say she doesnt get pissy when I played DAO for 8 hours straight when I bought it though. lol

My now ex is 4 hours away so we didnt see each other often but made it work. Before DA: O we texted all the time and talked on the phone every night. Once I got the game I completely lost the ability to care about communicating with her and would ignore her calls and texts so I wouldnt be interrupted.
She got mad about it and I dumped her.
lol
I'm a girl, yes I play Dragon Age (hell, I bought 2 copies and gave one to my husband as a gift), and it's so amazing how men treat women like fodder even in what we consider "advanced" countries. Let's see...if she suddenly developed an interest in another cute guy and "completely lost the ability to care about communicating" with you, and ignored your calls and texts so she wouldn't get "interrupted" being with him, maybe you'll get mad and SHE'D dump you!
How's about that? I think that sounds really cool.
