I'm a girl, yes I play Dragon Age (hell, I bought 2 copies and gave one to my husband as a gift), and it's so amazing how men treat women like fodder even in what we consider "advanced" countries. Let's see...if she suddenly developed an interest in another cute guy and "completely lost the ability to care about communicating" with you, and ignored your calls and texts so she wouldn't get "interrupted" being with him, maybe you'll get mad and SHE'D dump you!

Kilaana, you can't possibly compare being hooked to a game with cheating!
A better example would have been if you're watching Despereate housewives or Grey's crap and he interupted... yeah, you'd be pissed off. What if DH just came out. all X seasons of it, wouldnt you want to be left alone for a month? I think so. But this girl got mad and started ****ing... Yeah, obviously he didn't care about her as much as DA. And that's why he dumped her. But good for him! Why would he waste his time on a ****y witch that lives in another dimension (almost). he doesnt see her anyway but gets yelled at? I'd do the same thing if i were him.

She's actually been dissatisfied and disinterested with you for a while, and she's been yearning to hook up with that sexy friend/co-worker that you've heard mentioned in idle conversation for the past 2 months, but mysteriously haven't heard anything about for the past 2 weeks.

long distance relationships pretty much never work out, though im sure some exception will be quick to want to say 'mine did', they almost never do. a relationship with a 4 hour distance barrier that boiled down to some phone calls and text messages wasnt going anywhere anyways.


as far as the angry females are concerned, do you think its a one way street? im not a young guy and ive known quite a few women in my life, and i can honestly say nearly all of them were terrible people in the end. using me for something, lying to me, or whatever else.

your man hatred is rather biased when the reality is the world is full of crappy people, from both genders.

I wasn't saying that all men are terrible, I was getting justifiably irritated at the nasty sexist comments going on here. I know perfectly well that all men aren't terrible because the majority of my friends are lovely men, I'm going out with the most perfect man on earth (no offense) and the one person who really, truly broke my heart and screwed my life was another girl. Please don't jump to the "unreasonable women hating men" conclusion, because that's not what I'm trying to achieve here.

Eh, personally I'm getting a kick out of the thought that said chaps are probably going to be hanging around whining and wondering why all females are so cruel to them and stuff like that for the next several decades, and will never experience the joy of a long, meaningful relationship with an intelligent self-respecting woman as far as this infantile behavior continues. Manchildren are such a delight to behold, aren't they? (Though the only problem as far as I'm concerned is that on the way to merry oblivion, they're going to continue being a pain in the behind to other people, ourselves included.) Also, IMHO, the hissy reactionary fit that some people are tantruming about in having to 'give up gaming' says more about them than it does about the perceived faults of their past/present/future partners, really. Trust me on this one when I say that I think it's often a case of misplaced priorities and failure to think long-term or out of the box: really, if you were down to your last dollar in the bank, the last thing you'd think about would be beating that epic boss just to be rewarded with insubstantial pixellated loot. /2 cents.

It's rather amusing to read how most people in this thread claim that gamer girls are a rare species or doesn't exist etc. etc., and that all girls get mad at their guys if they like computer games.  Are you guys on another planet or something? 

I'm a girl and have loved RPG's since the very first Baldur's Gate came out, and have played a LOT of computer games through the years.  My sister is the same way, and most girls/women I've met on the net, are into some RPG or another.  I've been in RPG communities/forums where almost all the members were women. My man is a gamer too, and we like to spend our evenings playing games on each our computer.  Now and then we take breaks to talk and snuggle, before continuing the gaming. 

So... it's not exactly a lack of gamer girls out there.  You guys just haven't been looking in the right places yet.  We are everywhere!  

And, regardless of your gender, as long as you give your partner attention and snuggly time inbetween the gaming, (and sometimes take a break to do things together) there shouldn't be anything to complain about.  The clue is to balance the time right, between gaming and Real Life things...

I was screwing around with a girl before DA:O sucked up all my free time. I haven't even spoken to her since. I wonder if we're still dating... LOL

I had this girl living with me when BG2 was released. After two weeks she broke my discs because I wasn't spending any time with her. I dumped her **** on the lawn so quick her head didn't stop spinning until I slammed the door in her face. She was living out of her car for weeks before she found some other guy to blow for rent.

Rock on! Don't ever change. Remember: No one would give you any **** if you were involved in a good book. Giving you **** for a video game is uncalled for.

it's like reading a bunch of pre-pubescent livejournal blogs. good job boys, stick to your priorities, do what you want to do for you, yada yada...oh wait, there won't be much yada yada for you if you keep it up. remember, da:o is going to be around forever now that it's out, but you're only going to be at the peak of your sexuality/attractiveness until your mid-20s (let's be fair, you're not going to be hot when you hit 40 if you're ditching girls for video games now). think about that every time you ditch a girl for da:o, or, better yet, the next time your yanking your crank and thinking about morrigan.

i would just disagree with this because im headed in that direction and i still look good. i exercise to stay in shape and i look good. im mid 30's and i still get girls giving me the googly eyes when i go out places.

im not saying its any justification to treat women badly, its not. just saying if you think you wont look good at 40 that just means you dont know how to take care of yourself and are a lazy.

I play more games than my husband. But honestly, a lot of gamer girls go undercover because of the sexist crap. You get the kind of men that baby you - try to make you guild princess, then you get the kind who act like you aren't capable of thinking on an adult level, and then there is the group that doesn't give a damn what sex we are. Guys, how can you blame your GF for yelling at you if you are the one ignoring her attempts to communicate with you? How can you blame her for loving you enough to actually want to spend time with you (yes, you worthless dogs!), and making a fuss about it when you refuse? My mind is still trying to grasp that concept why you would be so rude to your GF. The girl you supposedly care about. You'd think the OP had more sense considering he was aware this constitutes as a long-distance relationship. I had one with my husband (before we were married) for FIVE frickin' years and we made all the effort to communicate even though we were limited by expensive phonecalls and emails. And this guy is complaining because "oh she lives 4 hours away"? Try living 18 hours, by plane, apart.
fundamentally...if he can't just do her the courtesy of saying, "Babes, I just got myself a new game and I want time off to play it", and THEN dumping her because she yells at him for not paying attention to her...

...wow. Just wow. Epic Fail.

Dunno, why everyone dreams of the "gamer girls". Had my part of them, and wouldn´t touch any real gaming girl with a tong. Especially when they play online all the time. I don´t know any online gamer girl, which didn´t change their relationships cause of the game (some even multiple times). No thanks.



My actual gf plays sometimes with me Adventures and stuff, and otherwise mostly tolerates my gaming, as i tolerate her female stuff That´s the whole magic.
