I have thought about this for long but shepard isn't made for boring things like settling down and getting married. Plus being in love is much better than being married.

Love stories feel less epic if they get resolved, if a person is heart broken, lost his love and something like that its much more epic. Marriages in video games are a bad idea.

In DAO Human-noble marries Alistair and no matter how much he "approved" of your love his dialogs are uninteresting and don't portray your relationship in any way. He seemed indifferent that the whole order was brutally murdered and he is about to leave his wife in a place where she will be despised and is least welcomed.

Maybe in DAO's case its bad writing but still. Plus the story sounds much better when you say shepard was in love than when you say shepard was married.

Nah, after knocking the socks off of reapers, shepard should go on and fight batarian terrorists.

I like this idea, but only if you could marry aliens and not just humans.

This is a bad idea, have I said this is a bad idea? This is a bad idea.

Everyone has they're own vision for ME3's ending. I personally want to kill TIM and take over Cerberus (with Miranda as Shepard's personal assistant *wink* *wink*). It's OK to have a cliche ending with kids 'n' stuff, but I would never play it just like I have never romanced Tali and never will. For me, some things in ME were never meant to happen. It's alright to have them for other people who do, but that's the beauty of role playing.... you do wathever the hell you want, how you want.

I think it would be a good idea, let the romance sub-plot have a pay-off other than an achievement.

And an achievement for marriage too, not just Paramour?

Maybe Shepard was already married the whole time...

We don't need another John Marston, thanks...

As for me, I would like it! As long as it's not anything like the marriage in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie. That was just popcorn flick spontaneous what-the-frak-is-going-on type stuff. Give it dignity, like a private ceremony aboard the Normandy on your way to the final mission point (ex: Independence Day) OR propose during the love scene that takes place before the final mission and, if you and your LI survive and save the galaxy, have a small cutscene showing you the fruits of your labor before the credits roll.

Edit: And if you don't want your Shepard to settle down, don't propose. Choices. Simple.

Though, there are only a few characters I can see this being applied to. Ash, Kaidan, and Jacob definitely. Liara most likely. Tali, Garrus, Kelly, and Miranda probably. Jack, no; I can't ever see her settling down. And Samara is past that point in her life, so likely no.

Also, I'm not liking the morbid viewpoint people are having with the final game. If this wasn't a no-spoilers-allowed forum, I would give examples of how much I HATED when certain video games tell me that the main character must die because the story demands it! Mass Effect isn't that type of game. The final outcome will most likely be based on your choices.

I want to marry my Liara just in case we're all doomed. I'm sure we could spare an hour somewhere in between destinations.

Makes more sense to not get married at all. You can celebrate afterwards.

A wedding at the end, reminds me of "that" ending to "that" fourth film in the...

You know what, I'm just not going there, simply put, if there is a wedding at the end, with Joker catching the bouquet, I'll finally lose my marbles.

I don't believe in commitment. The fact that I cheated on my ME:1 romance for Miranda should make that point clear

Well, the wedding in MGS4 was basically the worst part of the game, so, uh, you know.

Oh come on, I'm calling you on that one. That is just a retarded scenario. It'd be more like that scene in Independence Day; there's a brief lull before the fight, time for a fast, simple ceremony to seal a bond with your love interest.

And yeah, if Shep is going to get married -- I'm not necessarily in favor of it, mind -- it should be before the final battle. Not some lavish, ugly ceremony, just a quiet, respectful "until death do we part" confirmation of love between Shep and his LI.

And yes, I am a romantic softy. Thank you for asking.

Exactly.

The marriage could be optional. Everyone wins!

I wouldn't mind if they had it, or like in Dragon Age at the end, they gave a little exerpt about what happened to them afterwards, but I'd like to see one with Liara

Maybe post game (think Fallouts endings) with an appropriate LI (Jack and Thane probably wouldn't work considering one will probably die). Other than that it seems like the stakes are too high to have one in the middle of a catastrophy. I'm not sure Shepard will die in all cases.
SPOILER

"It's probably going to be a bit of both [when asked about New Game+ or free play after main story]"

If there is free play then I'm assuming he doesn't have to die.

I'm sure he doesn't have to die, but I imagine there will be several endings where he DOES die, based on what you did in ME3 and in previous games.

I was just being sarcastic with that one.. as it is ridiculous thinking about getting married while mankind is on he brink of extinction. That could be just my Renegade side talking though.

But still, i guess there could be an 'optional' marriage scene, if you're wanting to take it that far with your LI.

Reapers would most likely 'interupt' it though.
