Ok so I am trying to enable the console for my Dragon Age Origins - Ultimate Edition, because for the Warden's Keep I accidentally had the *SPOILER* random encounter where you get the ore or whatever *ENDSPOILER*, and didn't know I had to grab something since it was so early on in the game so I missed the item needed for Starfang.

I want to enable console to give myself the ore, I don't see this as cheating because I missed the only opportunity since the random encounter happened under 1 hour into the game (lol?).

Ok enough of the background of the problem, let's get to the problem itself.

I am trying to make a shortcut to DAOrigins.exe in the /bin_ship folder.

For some reason, the DAOrigins.exe still opens the launcher, as well as the launcher.exe obviously.

There is no .exe that goes directly to the game, I have tried them all. Reading around, DAOrigins.exe should just open the game directly, but however for some reason it doesn't for me.

I don't know if my game is just being weird, or if this is just what happens with the Ultimate Edition.

If anybody could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Deep breath. This is an unofficial support forum, and it's not seeing a lot of traffic over the weekend.

Now, to the issue of the launcher... did you get the game on disc or download it from someplace like Steam?

Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition via Steam, everything I try launches it to the launcher, and addting -enabledeveloperconsole to the steam launch options, or a shortcut doesn't do anything because the .exe just launches it to the launcher.

Others have reported this problem, too. I don't see a solution in the PC Tech Support forum. There are actually forums specific to using the Tool Set... check out:

This has nothing to do with the Tool Set.

Also, I figured it out.
dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Console#By_editing_a_game_file
The only way to enable the console is to edit the game file, instead of just adding the thing to the target.
