My rig is as follows

8GB of ram
Quad core processor
1 TB Harddrive
ATI Radeon 3850
Windows Vista 64-bit

I meet all the recommended settings, and everything is on medium, yet it still lags. I suspect it's my graphics card, but that is certainly higher then the ATi X1800 in the recommended settings.

Help with your amazing PC gamer super knowledge. :(

I was also full Recommended when I ran it on can you run it....:bandit:

Could be anything from;

DirectX version: ME specifically requires DX9.0c. Should ahev come with the game, but dont trust digital download versions. Download and install from Microsofts website.

CPU Affinity: Set to single and see how it goes.

Video Card: No mention of driver version. If they are the latest, roll them back to a previous working version. Could also be the card itself clapping out.

AV: Could be set to scan on demand and foced scanning game files as required.

If none of these help, read the "How to post a problem" thread, and update yours with the info thats missing.

DX 11 is not fine. ME specifically requires DX9.0c. Vista and Win7 are capable of running DirectX 9.0c and 11 runtimes simultaneously. Get it from MS and install it.

AV=Anti Virus. Depending on how you have it set, it could be trying to scan every piece of texture file the game is trying to open through normal gameplay.

Thanks for all your tips, I just have one last question. When I go into device manager and such, it says I have an Ati 4300/4500 card, but looking at my manufacturers website it says I have a radeon 3850...what's going on?

That's...odd. Try running dxdiag.exe to double-check what device you have. What's the web page for the manufacturer?

If it is a Radeon HD 4500/4300, that would definitely explain your problem. 4500/4300 series are very low-performance cards.

Not according to your computer itself. Again, can you provide the manufacturer's web page for your computer? Also, try using a program called GPU-Z. It will tell you what your card is in great detail.

Dxdiag is probably an easier route than installing a new piece of software. Press Windows Key + R and post what appears under the Name field under Display tab. Also post the Driver Version and Date, those could be helpful.

You obviously have a sibling, who also has a computer, and has been playing childish games with the graphics cards the two of you used to have in your respective computers.

A real HD 3650 would have to have been totally ruined somehow to ever actually report to Direct3D that it was another model graphics card other than its true identity.

As you can see, an HD 4350 is total trash, although in terms of today's graphics, the HD 3650 isn't such great stuff, either:

Interesting theory. I'll take the sibling conspiracy under consideration.

"Integrated Intel® GMA 3100 graphics2 up to ATI RadeonTM  HD 3650 256MB graphics2 options available" (From the web page you posted).

That means the model you have could have come with up to a Radeon HD 3650, but only if you paid extra for it.  Judging by what your computer is saying, you did not pay extra, and thus did not get very good graphics with your computer.  Sorry. (It could be worse, though.  You could be left with a craptastic Intel GMA 3100 *shudders*)

Should I just open up my box to make sure? I'm sure I have the 3650 in there :bandit:

I don't see the point -- as Gorath said, Direct3D can't be fooled about what your graphics card is. Go ahead if your really want to, though.
