So i'm playing  a CQC infiltrator and i mostly stick with my Loctus, but i'm considering taking a Shotgun on the Collector ship.

My dilemma is, even  though i avoid using a Sniper Rifle if i can't decide what sniper rifle i'd like to use otherwise. I have the Incisor on me right now but idk how i feel about it.

So anyone who played a Shotgun Infiltrator can you give me some tips?

Use the Viper.

It's my favorite sniper rifle in the game.

Yeah.  I said it (and i have used the awesome Widow).

edit: but really, look in any of the Infiltrator threads lately.  All of them are using the Viper alongside their non-Widow DCS weapon choice.  I use the Viper alongside my Scimitar.  The Viper is always awesome with the Infiltrator's innate sniper scoped time dilation.  It's like a mini Adrenaline Rush that can be reactivated with every hard aim.  You can get three to four headshots off of the Viper's 12 round clip during that dilation.

Viper is a n00b gun. Perfect for the 'spray-and-pray' type.

A CQC Infiltrator is best with the Viper hands down. Make use of maxed out cryo. I use Squad cryo but the other option is good too. Just be sure to retrain and use maxed out disrupter ammo in missions with only synthetics (like Tali or Legion's loyalty). And definitely get the shotgun training. I tend to use the Geth Plasma Shotgun because its outrageously powerful, but the Schmiter is equally as effective - probably better - in terms of crowd control with the appropriate ammo power attached.

Good bonus powers to use are: Reave (my personal favorite), Energy Drain, Flashbang, Geth Shield Boost, and Neural Shock. Stasis isn't the best choice, but it's not bad either. In any event, have fun!

The Viper is a solid choice for a CQC Infiltrator. Use the GPS for your close combat heavy hitter and the Viper for your long distance softening/assassinating. I feel like I'm not making the most of my Infiltrators when I don't snipe a few enemies here and there. They have the time dilation built in, after all.

The Viper is solid. And Shotguns are also a solid choice. But I would suggest evolving disruptor ammo to squad and getting 1 or 2 points in cyro so you can max 1 other power not including your class passive and ability. But that's just me

Since when are there trolls here?

It takes more skill to land multiple rapid fire headshots with one clip of the Viper than it does to land one headshot with the Widow/Mantis.

Anyway the Viper is really the Shotgun Infiltrator's only choice.  The Mantis doesn't do enough damage to OSOK mid-late game and the Incisor has terrible ammo issues.

I Dont see anything wrong with the mantis if you chose the shotgun on collector ship, I know the viper is more forgiving if your not the most accurate shooter but if you are then yep the viper is deadly with the time dilation. for certain missions though the mantis can be better +50% against armor and a very high base dmg 100 less than the widow i believe but 180 more than the viper.

^However, the Viper can shoot up to 3-4 shots while under the dilation effect vs. the Mantis, so most of the time it will do a lot more damage. You can also scope 3-4 times before having to reload, unlike the Mantis.

The worst thing about the Mantis is not damage or RoF, but that it only has 10 shots, vs the Widow (13 shots) and the Viper (60 shots).

So i saved before the big decision and then played both.

And i have to agree, with a CQC infiltrator the Viper is amazing, i've shied away from it on all my other play throughs, but for what i'm doing now its Invaluable.

Also, im rolling around with the Evi, its super nice. I do miss using the Locust though.

(i dont have the GPS)

Whenever I run a class that uses a shotgun, I always prefer the Scimitar.

Especially once I get the 5th or 6th upgrade. It makes it more powerful and it's fast.

That's just what I prefer

For snipers I've always been a 1 hit kill kinda person, but when running a shotgun, Viper is ideal. When you go invisible, get a damage boost, then use reave or whatever to keep getting your health back, so you don't need to get in to cover for long. I assume with shotguns it's the same, so long as you have reave?

Then focus completely on Health upgrades and stuff..

I like the scimitar on vanguards and my engineer. But my infiltrator is so squishy I can only get off 1 or 2 shots before I have to hide so the evi is my preference. And the gps is like cheater mode.

I thoroughly enjoyed using the geth plasma and viper on my infiltrator run. I haven't used the widow at all yet but I'm sure I'll give it a go. The infiltrators viper made a joke of enemies like ymir mechs. In fact it was probably the easiest insanity run I've done so far though not so easy that it took the fun out of it like going back to the lower levels.

Do you think Flashbang would be a good bonus power for a shotgunner?

I find i lack a certain level of CC, i do use squad cryo but it'd be nice to have something to throw or cast on command.

Neural Shock is wonderful for CQC Infiltrators, best bonus power IMHO.

Engage enemies at range first (Viper + Cryo); remove their defenses and freeze the lot; switch to your shotty; move in and kill em one by one - using Neural Shock to keep the others at bay, waiting for their turn to get their heads blown off :)

Yeah that was my number 2 choice, but i was just watching those "agent" videos and it got me thinking, but neuro shock is pretty sweet.
