Read through this entire thread. Am I the only one that didn't have that much of an issue with the majority of the dialogue?



I mean, yeah, some lines were cheesy, but that was the point IMO. Some of the lines were more of the VA not saying them serious/too seriously but w/e.



The only thing that really got on my nerves from ME1 was the "GO GO GO!", "ENEMIES EVERYWHERE!" and "I WILL DESTROY YOU!" that I heard many times per base I went to.

...Also all the times where someone was supposed to interject or cut off another person's speech: Never worked. Cutting someone off does not involve 1-2 seconds of complete silence mid-word. They fixed that in ME2, however.



The one thing that stands out for me in ME2 was on Zaeed's loyalty mission. When you have to decide to save the people or kill Vido:

Zaeed is like: "NO, Vido needs to DIE!!!"...

Then you say something like: "No, we need to save these people. It's more important".

Zaeed: "I knew this was a mistake, but Ok......" *follows you*.

I think it should have been much more of an argument than it was. Same with the ending if you chose the same path. He "focuses on the mission" way too easily. When you go talk to him on the Normandy afterwards he gets all angry about how after 20 years of tracking, Vido got away. Then immediately changes tone and says: "But I got to put that behind me for now".



Dunno, I love Zaeed's character (contrary to like everyone else =/) but I think he should have regarded Shepard with more anger than he does. If I had been hunting someone for 20 years and lost them because of someone else's plan, I would be pretty pissed off.



If anything, they should have put Vido's picture on the wall with all the knives in it. I would take that as a "that's how he's venting his rage" and then this wouldn't be as much of an issue as it is for me.

Actually, the reason for the majority of the dialogue being "cheesy" is because of charisma. To us who play the game, we are used to Shepard, but if you are in-game and Shepard is talking to you then it will make a stronger impression. Things that might sound too much or too obvious to us sound encouraging and/or intimidating to the NPCs (if, you know, they had been real)

How can anyone fail to mention most of the lines in Miranda's paragon romance? Ohy my god...

My thoughts exactly and I have to agree with you on the Zaeed thing. You think he'd run after Vido himself after being told otherwise by Shepard. I guess he finds his odds better doing so.

My own little peeve about the dialogue is Ashley calling Shepard a "god" on Horizon. Kinda... awkward. It seems like such an odd... compliment/descriptor, I dunno.

The only line that really made me uncomfortable was after completing the green asari's sidequest. She says something like "maybe, when i've finished doing what i'm doing and you've finished doing what you're doing..." and touches Shepard's face.



The vast, vast majority of the lines mentioned in this thread were not as terrible as some seem to make out.

Ooooh. OK. Yes.  I see what you're saying.  Or I think I do.  Personally, I just find the rather unfortunate implications of it funny, in a brain bleachy sort of way.
