I imagine.....I bet ....I think.  Your post is full of like comments like that.  I doubt that she would spit in your face if you were a mage but she would take a keen interest in you and your companions if you were and would investigate to see if any of you were apostates.  After all the needs of the many outweight the needs of the few.  Templares number one duty is to protect people from dangerous mages.  They take their duty seriously and if it means ruffling a few feathers tough.

Bold 1: Yes, I can totally understand this.. Unless you happen to be one of the few..

Bold 2: Yup, Templars take their duty seriously and I respect them for that.. But that wont stop me for making them die for their duty as well.. (Damn glorified drug addicts <_<).

Then you have proven to be just the type of irresponsible mage that we the Templars must protect us against.  And you, and those like you must shoulder the responsibility of the 'persecution' of the mages.  It's the mentality that 'I can do whatever I want and never be possessed.' that has gotten the mages in the bind they are in now.

Indeed, many mages have earned the distrust and fear of the populace.  We must protect this city and it's citizens from the likes of you.

So sayeth Ser BierrePoisson, Head Templar, lower quarter of Kirkwall.

Blah blah blah. Mages are superior, they should rule, and the peasants should deal with it.
Also I agree the populace is right to fear them, as they should.

{Snort}...Blah blah blah?  What does that even mean?  This one perhaps is showing signs of becoming a maleficar and a dangerous one at that.  Openly threatening the Templar order, saying that the populace of our fair city should fear him?  Do we really need any more reason than this to arrest this person and at least hold him until we are sure he is stable?  This is just the kind of dangerous miscreant that created the need of the Templars in the first place.  I shall sign the orders of detention forth with.

Mother Superior Ellena of the Chantry of Light.  Kirkwall.

Magic is a gift to empower the worthy not to be held back by the weak. I call it a sin not to rule the world when you've been blessed with the power to do it. Its time for the mages to us apsolute power for the cause of ultimate peace. The Tevinter had peace throughout all of Thedas, until it was ripped apart by a false prophet and her mindless followers... It is time for mages to become 'The Creator' where the Creator has failed.
Once more the mages will rule over Thedas.... and we'll have peace Image IPB

As I se it, the problem isn't that the Mage's are under guard because they can be dangerus and Im not talking about Blood Magic.

The problem, as I se it, is the way the Templars and the Chantry treat the Mages with hate and disgust as if they where monsters. Like it was the Mage's fault that he/she was born a Mage.

And that they are forbidden to have a family.

If Templars where more as protectors then jailers there would not be a big problem. I don't thin Mage's would rebell or run away if they could live there own life with Templars guarding them. Its the misstreatment and the fact that they are held in a Tower that makes them act up.

And it comes down to being the Chantrys fault because they misstreat the Templars (making them addicts) who themseves take it out on the Mages.

Should the Mages be on their own? No. Even Anders knows that would be a big problem (infact he say's just that). But they should not be treated like evil monsters.

I foresee her as a VERY likely antagonist towards my Mage hawke (if I can side with the mages I will) I'm making it my duty as a apostate hawke to bust the balls of every Templar I meet. :)

You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men and women with swords. Who's gonna do it? You? Your sister? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Mages and you curse the Templars. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that some mage deaths, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.

We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

(with apologies to Jack Nicholson from the movie 'A Few Good Templars')

If Cassandra and Meredith got into a fight, would Meredith kick Cass' backside to Orlais and back?

OMG I can't believe I missed this thread!  As for Meredith vs. Cassandra, HOT.  I would pay to see that.

I think she would be steak. Raw. But cooked slowly until perfection ~

Pu-lle-a-se. You just say this because you're a giant mage fanboy and like to explode things non-stop. Obviously, this adds very little to this discussion.

Elves can be as corrupt as any Templar, I'm sure that if elves were in the power someone would suffer as much.

can't warriors and mages just....get along?

what happened to the glorious days a warrior could slash a giant enemy, stick his blade on top of it's head, all the while a mage  would throw lightning at it using the blade as a lightning rod.
aah...good times.

Of course we defend templars by speaking in ideals about them making tough choices but ultimately doing what is necessary, but we should keep in mind that these Kirkwall templars in particular are said to have an iron grip on the city, seems to indicate some level of oppression beyond normal templar duties.
