Pu-lle-a-se. You just say this because you're a giant mage fanboy and like to explode things non-stop. Obviously, this adds very little to this discussion.

But.. But.. I like explosions :(

can't warriors and mages just....get along?

what happened to the glorious days a warrior could slash a giant enemy, stick his blade on top of it's head, all the while a mage  would throw lightning at it using the blade as a lightning rod.
aah...good times.

Hmph.. They stopped getting along when Warriors became religious fanatics, and starting downing lyrium like it was liquid candy..
Once warriors start bowing down, and realize who keeps them healed and buffed, and what makes their equipment non crappy. Then Mages may consider getting along..

*humph*

Of course we defend templars by speaking in ideals about them making tough choices but ultimately doing what is necessary, but we should keep in mind that these Kirkwall templars in particular are said to have an iron grip on the city, seems to indicate some level of oppression beyond normal templar duties.

That is true. And I'm sure we will encounter some Templars that are really bastards. But I like to think that not all of them are this way.

From the informations we know (and from what David Gaider said about her). I like Meredith. I only wonder, is the armour she wears the new Templar-Commander armour?

Most likely.. Though I would like it a little better if it didn't have that lame head cover..

Cassie must not be a very effective Seeker if a Templar knight-commander can whoop her. Aren't Seekers supposed to be the Chantry inquisition?

While Templars are supposed to be its 'mailed fist.'

Think of it this way:
Cassandra = CIA
Meredeth = Navy SEAL

Ah yes, the Templars having an iron grip on a city in crisis. Are there restrictions? Yes and for good reasons which shall become all too clear to you before long. Wouldst thou rather we went back to the times of the Tevinter Emperium? When mages ruled all with an iron fist? The same mages that with great folly arrogantly and foolishly entered the golden city and thus subjected the rest of us to the blight due to their Hubris?

No (wagging finger), that shall not happen again. We will not allow it. The mages have done their damage and they must be watched. To loosen the reigns on the mages is akin to unsealing passages to the deep roads. Surely sooner or later darkspawn shall spring forth.

Aha!  A name thrower.  And one with a Planescape Torment symbol as their seal, and the gall to call me a nerd!  A mage sympathizer no doubt.  The gates to city are closed we have our share of trouble makers and malcontents.  You Shall Not Pass!

And they wonder why the Templars and the fair Chantry must do what they do?  The number of apostates, mage sympathizers and mages with delusions of grandeur is disturbing indeed.  I sense an epidemic of mage possessions, but these demons are all the more clever, they try not to tip their hand but their words betray them.

*Enter my Evil Mage persona*
Magic is a gift to empower the worthy not to be held back by the weak. I call it a sin not to rule the world when you've been blessed with the power to do it. Its time for the mages to us apsolute power for the cause of ultimate peace. The Tevinter had peace throughout all of Thedas, until it was ripped apart by a false prophet and her mindless followers... It is time for mages to become 'The Creator' where the Creator has failed.
Once more the mages will rule over Thedas.... and we'll have peace

Reading this brought a tear to my eye.. So inspirational.. :crying:

Yes I put alot of soul into that speech. The Chantry curses the Tevinter because we have slavery, The Chantry put us to shame in that department. Anyone who is blessed with the power of magic is instantly made a slave to their laws, try to think for yourself or if you were born outside their control and you are killed for being what you are. An the Templars - the drug addicts. Who claim to be holy when all they want to do is slaughter those who are different from them.

The world was unified under Mages. The world was stronger while under the mages. What good has come from the Chantry? The world has been divided into waring nations each one trying to grab more power for themselves. Fereldan an entire country being enslaved and having its people tortured and killed. Wow what a great world the non-mages have made for themselves. The mages created the Grey Warders who have saved the world from the Blights without the Tevinter the world would have died long ago to the Dark Spawn.

An entire nation ruled by mages kept Thedas safe secure, and unified. If mages were so incapable of governing themselves the Tevinter wouldn't have lasted for as long as it has. The Chantry say the world will fall apart if mages are alowed to be free. But looking at what has happened to the world since the Tevinter lost total control over the land I think the exact oposite is true.

I'm really enjoying the list of powerful female characters Bioware is producing right now. Great way to set the standard and pave the way for other video game developers in their treatment of lady characters.

What? Why do you automatically assume she's a **** and want to kill her? Because she's doing her job? More people in Kirkwall means more crime, more potential for dangers of all kinds, and even disease.

Man, what is with all the hostility today?! To me, all templars are a-holes who need their sticks pulled out that's shoved half way up their rears. And I never said I wanted to kill'er! Just that she wouldn't like my mage Lady Hawke! I ain't a fan of the Chantry and I am tired of hearing about Andraste (Leliana WORE.ME.OUT with that). That's all, that's it.

You read my mind good sir.
Heres to hoping we can overthrow the Chantry and their tyrannical rule!

More like Meredeth is the commander of a base's MP platoon and Cass is an OSI agent.  Granted its an MP platoon where you start as a grunt rather then enlisted and officers being a separate caste, but its still a better anology.  Seals would be more akin to rogues who perform covert and specialized tasks for the Templars.

Starts reading thread...

I knew a girl named Meredith, cuter than this Meredith.

...2 days later.

So that's how long it takes to read a 13 page thread. I'd like to compliment Bioware for actually creating a universe where there this scenario has no clearly defined good or evil and these kind of discussions can occur over an entirely fictional universe that the community has put enough thought into to make several college professors cry.

Alas, in the time of the old tevinter, each mage had hunderds of slaves...which he killed and syphoned in his magic experiments.
A few mages living in restruiction is no no way comparable to the horrors of the Old Tevinter, neither in scale or severity.

That you take the position of a moral high ground, while undermining the very logic you try t obuild it upon..it is laughable. A product of a deranged mind, as does befit a meleficar like yourself.

The world was unified under Mages. The world was stronger while under the mages. What good has come from the Chantry? Ha! Now you try to re-write history. Tevinter was a great empire (in size), but whole Thedas unified? No, your words are lies. Tevinter was a festering monster, inflated and disfigured like a Broodmother.
Created upon slavery and misery, expanded by plundering riches and conquest...the few lording over the many. Even now, what remins of tevinter is a mockery of justice. The nation persists on the backs of it's slaves..were it not for them, it would have crumbled long ago.
The time of Tevinter is over.
That shall not come to pass again mage! The people will not have it anymore.
Your foul magics will not help you either. If you go to war, you arne't going to war againt the templars...no, you're going towar agaisnt everyone.

You foolish rebellion is doomed to faliure before it even starts.
