Some time ago now the robes and staff of Orsino where released on Xbox Live, and we don't really now who he is.

Now I have a theory, he is the leader of Blood Mages (well at least some of them).  My reason for saying this is because you can find several statues that resemble his staff. Like in the Blood Mage Hideout in Denerim, and also in Vigils Keep... But I don't know why they are there.

It seems interesting (and terrifying) that there is a whole organaztion of Blood Mages.
I got most of this from the Dragon Age Wiki.

I thought Orsino was that mage who looks like Anders.

The main speculation seems to be the Orsino is the dark-haired elven mage who stands opposite Meredith, the Knight-Commander of Kirkwall, on the start screen.

Well if Orsino is a Blood Mage (Leader) and Meredith is commander of the Templars in Kirkwall it would make sense that they fight.

This, Orisino is supsected to be the leader of the Mages who are in direct opposition to Merideth and her Templars in Kirkwall.

@Wulfstrum.
Then maybe he is just trying to start a rebellion in Kirkwall, and he attracted some Blood Mages?
Like I said, you can see the statues of 3-headed Dragons in the Blood Mage hideout in Denerim in
Dragon Age:Origins

Actually, Orsino is the Leader of the Pack.

They told me that he was BAD
But I knew he was SAD
I'll never forget him
The leader of the pack!

I'm not sure how you could be 'leader of blood-mages' and not be at least morally grey.

Eh, its possible. It's also possible he is a blood mage himself, and that is why he wants to seperate from the Chantry, I couldn't really tell you either way.

Well there is a lot of Templar vs Mage speculation going on, so yes.
And on another thread of mine Mike Laidlaw said the there was a Rebellion brewing in Kirkwall.

This thread: http://social.biowar...1/index/5500819

Maybe Orsino has something to do with that?

Well, I think they would be more interested about the topic if there was more information about it. Unfortuneatly, we'll probobly have to wait untill the game comes out to get the answers.

1. More pictures.

2. She's a female

In the end, clearly older elven men are not as exciting then the aforementioned no matter their background.

But we really need a blood mage who can seriously demonstrate how someone truly evil could exploit those powers. The best we had in Origins was Uldred and he was a joke. I simply did not feel any awe towards the power he weilded. Flemeth had the menacing attitude but she was a shapeshifter and not a bloodmage in the game.
Truly evil characters make us stand up and look at them for the manner in which they act- they know they're powerful and they know what they can do. Uldred was more like- "Ooh a demon possessed me, I'm so cool!" I want someone like Flemeth- who knows that their power is boundless and know what they can do with it. Kinda like my bloodmage warden.

Nice observation with the statues. I wonder what that symbol represents. Dumat?

Maybe they represent more then one Old God?
Of course Dumat is the most noticeable teaching Blood Magic and all.

Not sure how blood magic could be painted in a good light. Removing all the chantry propaganda that is.

Sorry I was responding to CommanderVal's posts about the lack of truly evil bloodmages.

If there are factions of Blood Mages in Thedas, and they are regocnized by the three headed dragon.
Then they might have different leaders in different countries.

Though I don't think the Blood Mage from the Alienage is a part of Orsino's Blood Mages, Blood Magic seems pretty common and tolerated in the Tevinter Imperium after all.

The Blood Mage group Orsino is part of seems more underground.

I'm sure if there's a picture showing Orsino being a good-looking chap, there'd be tons of interest.

Or he's a libertarian, maybe, the meeting Wynne's headed to in Awakening is about them wanting to split from the chantry
