My CD-Drive died recently and I was wondering if there was any side effects to redeeming my product key through the EA downloader?  Such as only being able to install the game five times after redeeming the code or if it would fail to work with the disc install in the future once I get my drive repaired.

The EADM allows you to download an image of the base game. AFAIK an unlimited number of times. You can even download the install files from file sharing network, as long as you have a legit key, no crack and use the same BioWare account all the time, no problems should arise from the DRM system.
