Umm 288 isn't considered a lot of pages?

That's where I was. :)

DA2 is shorter than DAO. Beyond that, I'm not so certain that strategy guide length is a good barometer of playtime. Even so, 288 pages sounds like a lot of reading.

Good Sir, could you please tell us is it like 50% shorter, or 20% shorter? :wizard:

Have a beautiful day.

Why does this matter again?

Because if you wait a week then an entire guide will be up online somewhere for free.

Think he (?) means the game itself.

It's not really useful to say it's longer or shorter than DA:O, it depends a lot on the player. You could spend anything from 30 to 100+ on DA:O.

DA2 has been said to be around ME2 length which in my experience takes from 25-50+ hours to play. YMMV.

First playthrough in DAO took me 95 hours (without any DLCs or expansion, only with Shale).

I really take all opportunities to read everything, walk around and immerse myself into the environments, etc.

What a player like me could expect from DA2 then in terms of hours?

Besides the "shorter then Origins, longer then Awakening" we have no dev quote to build an educated guess on. I'd guess similar to ME2, like 30-50 hours, depending on play style, but again, just my gut feeling, and nothing to base it upon.

Did you have a half walking/running speed mod or something?

Even after exploring every area I could find, reading everything etc. it still only took me ~40 hours to complete DAO (without DLC) the first time.

But I guess take however long it's supposed to take, times it by two, and then maybe that'll be about right for you?

The game is shorter, so it makes sense that the guide will be shorter. That doesn't mean that what there is will lack content and depth.

Where has this been confirmed?

Also, if true, that would directly result in less 'content'. If content is being used to describe 'everything that is contained' and there is less to see/do/play than invariably it is 'less content.' I still hope this is not true however, can anyone confirm this 'the game is shorter' comment?

Prima seem to be making more 'efficient' guides. My Revised & Expanded Oblivion guide (Everything bar Shivering Isles and the Fighter's Stronghold, I think) is ~431 pages. The Fallout: New Vegas guide is only about 448, yet I believe it's the biggest guide Prima have done, and if you scaled the text up to the size of Oblivion's, then you'd be looking at a much bigger guide.

So until someone has the guide in their hands, no, it's not indicative of a lack of content.

I played on PC and nightmare difficulty, what was your choice?
Because I heard that on PC it can take longer (especially on nightmare) just because the pure reason of micromanaging combats.

Developers stated DA2 was shorter than Origins, longer than Awakening.

No. Simply means the game isn't as long.
Also, the guide is written by a completely different publisher this time... so bear that in mind too.

Also PC, but normal. My second playthrough was on Nightmare however, and it didn't actually seem much harder to be honest.

well i've bought a game guide with something stupid like 400 pages, and the actual game was so short I was like wtf =/ . it's foolish to assume the length of the guide is indicitive of the game's actual length, you could apply the same logic to height, "yeah your six foot one, your going to live sixty-one years and your five foot so you'll live five years" (maybe going off on a slight tangent) but you see what i mean XD (I hope)

No. But the developer statements are. BioWare has confirmed time and time again that the game will be shorter than Dragon Age: Origins.

That difference is offset by the fact that complicated combats take less retrys, due to the micromanaging allowing a more efficient combat.

Yes, I'm fully aware of that. Still doesn't change the validity of my point.

My printed DA:O walk through written from some random dude from some random site was only 28 pages...

*shakes fist angrily* and they told me Dragon Age Origins was long..clearly it wasn't.

Is this the first sign of the apocolypse? No its not, so don't worry this game will still be great and regardless of the guide size.

Or, y'know, it could be a shorter guide since there's no longer 6 origins to do a walkthrough for...

I'm with you there.
Personally I'm going to sit in front of my shiny new Hd TV grinning like a physcopath on release day and laugh at all the whiners when Bioware pull the sparkly bunny of awesome out of the hat once again...or not. But at least I'm keeping a semi-open mind about it instead of acting like a spoiled brat when things don't go the way I want.;)

I have faith i won't be disapointed though. If i am, well, it's not the end of the worldB)

People actually read guides? I always thought it is a myth. But then again this is the internet.
