Although this is all speculation on the of fans and what we guess might not happen at all.

But don't forget ME3 will encompass everything from one and two plus it also written

As a trilogy and there is the cerberus news network and the comics novels and dlc's. So for us

To try and predict ME3 we have to understand content given.

The Reapers return and start wreaking havoc. Shepard leads a resistance to fight back, and discovers that the Prothean scientists who built the Conduit were also close to unlocking the secrets of TIME TRAVEL, as well as a super weapon to use against the Reapers. So Shepard uploads EDE into Summer Glau's body and sends her back to deliver the data on the super weapon to himself in the past, before it's too late.

Worst possible plot twist for me....
Despite all you've done, the drama, the missions, the romance....you still die in the end.

Followed by this.

The game doesnt event explain it at all, Its as if Shepard knew all along. Epic final fight ensues.

Sheperd having to fight a reaper version of himself "Dark Sheperd" as the final boss battle.

Either that or.....

Reapers turn out to have some arbitrary weakness that we use to kill them all (I think someone mentioned a virus earlier...)

And I have to say, though she might be Paragon, my Shep would seriously consider letting the galaxy burn, if only for a moment.

exactly - kaiden/ashley the uber husk with the entire prothean knowledge in them, possessing every class and power...shepard learns this because the prothean ruin from eden prime is still talking with him...he will 'clarify" with Liara who will then faint and be unavailable for the final battle as she needs to see Dr Chakwas (who due to the dramatic events on the collector base is now addicted to a dangerous combination of medi-gel and ice brandy)...

The worst possible twist would be if the entire story were dreamed up by some kid with Down's Syndrome while staring at a snow globe. He's then run over by a car.

The people who saved the collector base unknowingly create an army of indoctrinated cerberus sleeper agents who at a critical point in the battle reveal all of sheps battle plans to the reapers, ultimately making it impossible to beat ME3 using that path.

If I can't complete the game with my entire crew (Liara included) surviving. I could live without Jacob, but still.

I'll throw some randy Alliance/Turian/etc ships to the wolves Destiny Ascension style. I'm heartless like that

Shepard defeats the reaper threat and credits roll. The screen zooms out to a much chubbier Shephard sitting in a darken room with wild ungroomed hair and scraggly beard. He stands up, pulls out the Mass Effect video game from his PS35 and goes to trade it for a Galaxy of Fear 3 month subscription card from the Salarian video game saleman on the Citadel.

Part of me wants to see this, in front of the dead fish tanks.

What if Shepard turns into a liberal and begins to negotiate a truce with the Reapers?

If there's an "everyone makes it" ending it would be pretty retarded.

Why? It should be the hardest ending to achieve, sure, but not impossible. I'd like to see another Virmire situation eventually, but losing necessairy Shepard and/or 1/2 of the squad during the story's development would be awful...

Uhm simply no. For the same reason why ME2 shouldn't have had "everyone makes it". What's so suicidal about a suicide mission in which everyone makes it. Nothing. It was actually harder to die (or have companions die) then to make it without any casualties.

It's a bloody war and if all the crew makes it without considerable casulties I will be severely dissapointed. This isn't fantasy. And ending in which everyone makes it is ridicilious. And if there is such ending it should be nearly impossible to be done. Also L.I as well as Shepard should have a very good likelihood of not making it and not just having plot armor for the sake of teenage hormon driven fandom. A sacrifice to save the galaxy makes it much more significant and deeper. If everyone survives in ME3 the Reaper invasion would become a total joke.

I see your point, that's why I'm not against another Virmire, as I said. Some lossess or defections? Fine, there's a big guddamn war incoming, but forcing us in the endig in something like Save Shepard but Kill Most of the Team vs Kill Shepard and the LI to Save the Others, would be p!ssfull.

Obviously there should be choices towards who dies and when. But if everyone makes it, it would be ridiculous. Kind of like ME2 suicide mission. Luckily I can kill some (most) of my crew to make it more dramatic. The problem is that it's by my actions, I actually have to work to kill my own companions, put the "wrong" choices on purpose.

Shep finding some sort of magical item that lets him defeat the reapers in one shot. (ie a virus, some sort of prothean tech, etc)

Apart from the robot one I'd say the other three are likely.

They may kill of Shepard, it wouldn't surprise me if it was a possibility anyway.

I am not sure if it would be Earth or LI, but the decision to save LI or save many seems a possibility.

Considering how hard a single Reaper is to kill with an entire fleet, I don't see how they can destroy thousands of them otherwise.

Yes it is... it's fiction.

Granted if everyone survives then it'd be that much harder to suspend the disbelief. I don't think killing off a LI just for the sake of drama would be any better than having them survive to please the fans.

Killing off beloved characters is the most cliche way of creating tension and drama in any fictional setting. It's what the creators of Gears of War 2 and Halo 3 couldn't grasp. Killing them didn't magically make the story any deeper because their deaths made very little sense and didn't fit in with the story overall.

I agree some should die, but only if it truly fits in with the story.

In this case, we agree. I'd like to see Shepard heroically rise from the ruins of the battle with most of the team still with him (or at least with the LI) but as I said first of all should be the hardest ending to be achieved, and secondary even in that case I don't wanna a Star Wars like-ending with everyone happy and smiling while fireworks explodes in the sky :P

Yep, these are all likely possibilities. One of the thing I'm most scared as hell is Shepard VS LI... if one of them have to die, I wanna make sure that the other will remain at his/her side 'till the end, even if this means that they'll both be doomed.

The Illusive man is really Shepard from the future and there's a room full of Sherpard clone in the basement of Ceberus's base shown just before the very end, hinting at ME4

Shepard defeats the Reapers with the POWER OF LOVE!

That would be really stupid.
