This will probably be a bit contentious but lets keep the console wars out of this.  I came across this today that might be of interest to those that are wanting to buy the PS3 version :-

Well, we can confirm that no matter which version you go for, your hard drive is going to take a bit of a battering, as the retail copy of the game requires 4.5GB of space before you can go ahead and play – although the back of the box (above) shows 5.3GB.  Our install time ran to a rather unscientific thirty minutes or so, those of you with GT5 will know that these times can vary quite a lot, however.

I am merely posting this as additional information for PS3 users.

Most PS3 games require hardware installs. Although they didn't at launch, 2007 onwards most big name titles have used them. Last year onwards, there are VERY few that don't. PS3 owners are used to it by now.

Expected, no big deal these days.

Optional would be better, but it beats streaming issues...

Not an issue. MY PS3 came with a 320gb HDD. Better to be on the HDD than have slow disk loading times (like xbox?)

Well, I'm at about 20 minutes so far and it's only 3/4 done on the install (yes I love the EA store right about now.) so hopefully not too much longer. (And though I had the space, I still deleted a bunch of things I wasn't playing so hopefully that helped with the process).

Edit: 25 minutes and done.  Time to see what's under the hood in the 5 minutes or so I have before i need sleep.

And this is an issue why? Most PS3 games do this.

Saying "This will probably be a bit contentious but lets keep the console wars out of this" and then obviously trying to stir up stuff. Just classic OP.

I am not trying to "stir up stuff" I have seen on the net how rabid and retarded both PS3 and Xbox fanboys can be about this kind of crap.  I am a PC gamer so personally I couldn't give a ****.  I actually think it is an IMPROVEMENT that console games are now making more use of the hard disc to run games.

I posted the information because it might be of some use to some PS3 users that have a relatively small hard disc.  If you have a large 320gb hard disc in your PS3 then obviously you do not need to worry about it.  However there are a lot of PS3 users out there still on 40gb and 60gb PS3's and this information will be useful for them to plan ahead.

Anyone with a 40gb HDD still in their PS3 should have replaced it along time ago. It could hardly be simpler or cheaper.

At least you can leave the room and make a sandwich or something while you're waiting, certainly better than the 10 minutes of unskippable cutscenes (but with JUST enough interactivity that you can't leave it unattended) if you want to fool around with face creation.

I still can't believe there are people who complain about installing solely for the time issue. Anything that reduces loading in actual gameplay is a godsend.

I also don't think it's a problem. I have both a 360 and a PS3, and I don't really mind. Almost all of my games installed, and I still have quite a bit of space left. Not a big deal.

What's annoying in the very long loading times on the Xbox.

I'm ok with this.

It's better than the RROD.

Leave the flamewars out of here, mkay?

I guess it's no biggie, lots of games require the game to install on PS3. And while Xbox 360 doesn't require it, I install my games too because of the horrible noise the disc drive makes. :P

It took me 35 mins. to install it, but it seems to take that long on every PS3 game I've bought.

I went home and installed it during my lunch break.

Some people who preordered the game online got their copies delivered to them today.

most 360 owners installed anyways. installing removes the loud ass noise that all 360 games make unless they install.
