Perhaps now EA/Bioware will abandon this ridiculous sales tool which is clearly punishing fans. Project Ten Dollar I have no problem with, but this was always a terrible idea that pushed things too far.

Bit strange Amazon UK isn't doing these incentives.

this is weird, I don't understand why the codes aren't inside the box like in every other game. I can see this creating a lot of confusion, I wouldn't be surprised if some people don't get their codes due to delivery mistakes, even if they preordered from a retailer that participates in the promotion.

I couldn't care less about those items, it's not the reason I preordered anyway, but it still puzzles me.

im kinda glad I did an in store pre order now. I dont have to worry about my codes getting lost in delivery.

This is BS though. I would probably cancel my pre order and wait for the ultimate edition if I ordered from UK amazon

More bad news. I PMd Chris asking if it would be possible for those who were being denied the bonus content to be sent it from head office if they provided some sort of evidence. He said no it would not be possible.

I don't dispute this decision, however it would be greatly appreciated if some reason could be given? At least then we could understand.

So unless Amazon UK get their act together we're truly left in the ****. Thanks.

I'm angry at Amazon UK for cheating all of you off. :(

However, I think Bioware also holds some responsibility for this. Amazon.co.uk used to be listed at http://dragonage.bio...da2/info/order/ (pre-order!). It's gone, now, but people followed the Bioware page to get to Amazon in preparation for getting those pre-order bonuses. Amazon backing out sucks and is a pain of them (and I'm going to avoid ordering from Amazon ever again if I can help it, even though my countries version seems to be cooperative), but while I know anything can change at a moments notice, people were told on a Bioware page that using the retailer would get them the pre-order item, right? What does Bioware plan to do about that? =/

It's been quoted enough so I wont bother again but Chris Priestly also stated on here the bonus items were included with the Signature Edition, no ifs or buts or please check your retailer to see, just straight out saying the items were included.

I know most on here will direct all the blame towards Amazon but in the end this sort of thing was always likely to happen with Bioware/EA's ridiculous pre-order cut off point sales tactic, that was a total sham from the start, I certainly wont be buying any future games that pull this sort of nonsense.

Oh well, thanks to the steam Christmas sales and The Witcher 2 coming, the slow rate I'm actually playing these games It'll probably take me about 2 years to get through them all as it is, probably all in time for a DA2 ultimate Edition for a fraction of the price I would have spent on buying it new now and all the DLC they will no doubt churn out between now and then.

I don't know what's more disappointing, Amazon not including the bonusses or Bioware's decision that they can't/won't help us. Of course I have no idea how much work it is, but is it really that hard to create some sort of system that lets people who bought the SE download the items directly from the site? I understand it is impossible to do for regular versions, but the SE should be possible right?

Really hope Amazon fixes this one way or another, the only reason why I"m not going to cancel my pre-order is because I don't want to miss the SE-exclusive items.

I guess I can't exactly feel cheated as I ordered from Amazon UK in October before I knew about the more recent pre-order items. It does rather suck though.

And it also misleading of Bioware to say that "*If you pre-ordered the BioWare Signature Edition prior to January 12, 2011 you will also receive this bonus content" when in fact this is not true for all customers. While Amazon UK is no longer listed as a participating retailer, it was previously listed as such when I ordered the SE.

Perhaps this misleading (and indeed wrong) information can be removed from the website?

I would cancel my pre-order and order from somewhere else, but unfortunately because of the cut off for the SE, now I can't.

I think the only way to guarantee anything is to buy directly from EAstore then they have no excuse.

And would not EA love that.

Perhaps instead they could include the bonus stuff in the box rather than jerking retailers around and customers. OR just stop tricking folk into ordering stuff they can not deliver!

So glad I have not bothered with the game as yet, I will feel less cheated getting it pre owned for buttons. It looks like they can not even organise how to sell stuff, let alone make a game that will work. So much for their promise to give you stuff if you ordered last month OOPS. Another broken promise and they have not even launched the game lol!

Amazon sending codes for content in e-mail is not new and is not limited to Bioware or EA.  You thus have no idea what you're talking about when you're shooting your mouth off about stuff needing to be in the box.

Here is the reply I got from them:

Dear Customer

Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.

For details on all our current Pre-Order Promotions, you can find the information at the following URL:

http://www.amazon.co...ocId=1000299573

If you have seen a Pre-Order Promotion on a Video Game product sold on another website, possibly even Amazon.com, Amazon.fr or Amazon.de, but do not see the same offer listed on Amazon.co.uk, it means that the Promotion is not available on Amazon.co.uk.

We are always seeking ways to improve the customer experience of shopping on Amazon.co.uk, but we regret we cannot tell customers about any offers that may be available at a future time.

Thank you for your interest in Amazon.co.uk.

So basically a brick wall. Thanks for nothing.

If these promotions are going to become common practice I sincerely hope they're better organised in the future because this farce does not bode well.

Y'know, the allure of pre-order benefits kind of wane when you realise they've gone up in smoke due to some arbitrary corporate mistake.

Sadly, it appears to be nothing.  Why BW "enforces a participating Store for that Promo" and when such Store (partly) backs out of it, is just mind blowing.  And can't do nothing about it! :pinched:

I've emailed Amazon.co.uk aswell to verify this pre-order fiasco they have but also to ask them what we get with the Signature Edition because the product description for it is identical to the normal edition. I know what to expect, but I want to hear it from them to see if we can flush out what Amazon's plan is and what they think we get with it (which had better not be "sorry we screwed up entirely, have a normal edition!"). If we're lucky, they may think the sword & shield are part of SE anyway!

So, has Bioware offered a solution to people that are getting the shaft from Amazon UK, or have they basically just said "oh well, sorry 'bout that"?

So far it seems to amount to 'You'll have to deal with Amazon.' Amazon UK's response has been 'We're not doing it.' And we're, through no fault of our own, stuck in the middle. :pinched:

Well, that sucks.

I understand they have no control over amazon UK, but they DID say every pre-order gets the stuff.  They should find a way to make it happen, even if it has to be some kind of "send us proof of your pre-order, and we'll credit you the amount of the DLC".

I believe at least one person asked BW/EA about maybe doing it that way. BW/EA I believe refused it.

Wow.  That's really customer friendly of them.

Honestly, this - luckily - doesn't affect me, but it really sucks for people who purchased through AmazonUK.

What amazes me is: how does BW/EA expect us to react if they pull this 'special edition timed pre-order' stunt again?

We'll be left scratching our heads not knowing for sure who best to buy from and guessing at who is most likely to opt in to as yet unannounced bonus schemes.

As business practices go, this one stinks.

To top it off: Now there is confusion over the Amazon.com of not honuring the SE deal. What a "slaughtery Gory Mess". :o

This is my first time posting in a thread here - sorry if I mess it up somehow.

I have had a slightly different response from amazon.co.uk (I'm only going to include the relevant parts):

Dear Customer

Further to your email, I have checked with the website and found that there is a promotional offer for the item "Dragon Age 2 - Signature Edition (PC DVD)"  in Amazon.com and other websites.

I need to investigate this issue with the appropriate department further.

As soon as we receive a response from them we will let you know.

This generally takes short time and so we will contact you again with an update by February 08, 2011. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this delay may cause.

The rest of it was just the standard 'thanks for bringing it to our attention' and apologising for the wait while they look into it. I don't imagine anything will come of this, but there you have it.

Sounds as if they were reacting to the multitude of complaints now...

That's the same email I got yesterday... heres hoping...

I placed my order back in November before these 2 pre-order itmes were announced - That being said I am annoyed with Amazon and Bioware for this stunt... Amazon for agreeing to participate and then pulling out without informing those who had pre-ordered and not advertising the fact - Bioware for not helping us despite the fact they plainly stated that ALL pre-orders would receive them...

In the end they are on 2 pieces of kit... but it hurts all the same...:(

A new reply... but not very helpful

"Dear [me]

My name is xxxx and I work in the Customer Escalation Team here at Amazon.co.uk.

I'm sorry to learn of your trouble with your order for the "Dragon Age 2 - Signature Edition" and would like to offer my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

As this promotion was listed on the publisher's website and not on Amazon.co.uk, the publisher will be able to advise whether the pre-order bonuses will be included with your current order on our website.

Therefore, I would in this case ask that you kindly contact the publisher directly for further information:

http://help.dragonage.com/

I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you and thank you for choosing Amazon.co.uk."

So yeah, looks like we're not getting it - Since Bioware have said we can essentially sing for it.

How annoying.
