I think the only way to guarantee anything is to buy directly from EAstore then they have no excuse.

And would not EA love that.

Perhaps instead they could include the bonus stuff in the box rather than jerking retailers around and customers. OR just stop tricking folk into ordering stuff they can not deliver!

So glad I have not bothered with the game as yet, I will feel less cheated getting it pre owned for buttons. It looks like they can not even organise how to sell stuff, let alone make a game that will work. So much for their promise to give you stuff if you ordered last month OOPS. Another broken promise and they have not even launched the game lol!

Amazon sending codes for content in e-mail is not new and is not limited to Bioware or EA.  You thus have no idea what you're talking about when you're shooting your mouth off about stuff needing to be in the box.

Actually you know nothing about the facts not I. Usually amazon do this as a promo with items exclusive to amazon. Ie get armour only from amazon. this boosts sales for amazon ie only getting the ubber armour of fred. This is nothing like that this is for all retailers. Thus Why the hell should amazon bother they were jerked around once already changing this from the standard game.

I get that amazon would want to do this if it was an exclusive to amazon, offer they have always supported this type of content but this is no benefit to amazon as you get the same stuff everywhere else. Why should amazon live up to this offer when it was EA BW started this promise then kept jerking the retailers around by moving the offers around? This is BW putting their schemes out and expecting retailers to do their work unpaid for no benefit to the retailers.

If THAT'S true then you've just thrown me off Amazon for good, and I already despise online retailers. That's what I like to call being a bunch of greedy stuck up bastards who care nothing for the customer at all.

I blame EA BW if they made a product. Sold the product with a retailer fine no problem.

The thing is that they made a product retailers advertised it. Then BW changed it causing a lot of extra work for retailers that they get no payment for, fair enough the retailers soaked up the extra cost. Then they change it yet again and expect yet again every retailer to do their work for them once again unpaid.

If I was a retailer I would be sick and tired of getting jerked around doing unpaid work for EA/BW. I do not understand what EA/BW are thinking they are making things awkward and hoping to blame amazon. EA/BW made us a promise they should keep it it is nothing to do with amazon what EA/BW promises and not their responsibility to sort it.

What im curious to see is how many individuals will cancel the orders and go elsewhere, now that the automatic upgrade to signature edition has ended?

It has ended, hasnt it? :S

Well if you cancel with amazon you will not get the signature edition any more so I can not see the point of cancelling, you will lose even more doing that ending up with the vanilla copy. It should be a case that BW live up to its promise of content. rather than blame a third party for not living up to BW's promises.

i don't care whose fault it is, i'd like it rectified before release though.

The point is BW should sort this rather than tell us to see amazon they made the guarantee's not amazon. They are dancing round pretending its not their fault for fathing around so much with this release. They made a guarantee end of story they should honour said guarantee rather than deflect the blame. They came up with a stupid convoluted way of selling a game not the retailers its BW's fault.

The way I see it:

The fact is that BioWare and EA both stated (and in fact, still do) that the Fadeshear/Lion of Orlais are included with SE pre-orders.

Retailers offering/not offering the bonuses should not even be the topic of discussion.
There was no get out of jail free clause saying "dependant on retailer participation".

If they can not live up to their promises, then it is false advertising. It's as simple as that.
And I don't know about Canada, but false advertising is illegal here.

No matter who is at fault here, BioWare (or EA) should be working on sorting this out, they said they were included - and if the retailers are not willing to offer them on BioWare's behalf then BioWare should be working on a way to offer them directly.

If this has not been resolved before my copy of the SE arrives, I will be reconsidering if I want to continue giving EA (and therefore BioWare too) my business in the future, as this would be the third problem I have had with EA if it does not get resolved.

This is my first time posting in a thread here - sorry if I mess it up somehow.

I have had a slightly different response from amazon.co.uk (I'm only going to include the relevant parts):

Dear Customer

Further to your email, I have checked with the website and found that there is a promotional offer for the item "Dragon Age 2 - Signature Edition (PC DVD)"  in Amazon.com and other websites.

I need to investigate this issue with the appropriate department further.

As soon as we receive a response from them we will let you know.

This generally takes short time and so we will contact you again with an update by February 08, 2011. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this delay may cause.

The rest of it was just the standard 'thanks for bringing it to our attention' and apologising for the wait while they look into it. I don't imagine anything will come of this, but there you have it.

Sounds as if they were reacting to the multitude of complaints now...

This sounds promising, like they're actually starting to realise there's something wrong/ they've got it wrong. If they realise Amazon.com are doing the promotion then they'll do it too.

What's not so good is the rumours that amazon.com is also not doing the promotion (if not amazon.co.uk/fr, thehut, and many other smaller retailers, and now not amazon.com, THEN JUST WHO THE HELL IS DOING THE PROMO????) either.

Also doesn't bode well that this new email now appears to indicate they had NO idea of what they were talking about/ saying no to earlier. SIGH

Absarka, very interested in hearing any further replies! Well done on getting somewhere!

Not according to the reply I got from them:

If you have seen a Pre-Order Promotion on a Video Game product sold on another website, possibly even Amazon.com, Amazon.fr or Amazon.de, but do not see the same offer listed on Amazon.co.uk, it means that the Promotion is not available on Amazon.co.uk.

I don't know when you got that reply, I got mine similar to that (if not the exact same automated message) some days ago, the one i was commenting on seemed to be more recent indicating a REAL HUMAN BEING as opposed to automated robots have realised that something odd is going on and they were checking their figures or whatever so see what it was.

It does seem ridiculous that Amazon.uk/fr should not offer something that .com IS. No reason for it whatsoever.

Perhaps Amazon is just fed up with BW messing around with this item and have had enough of Them and EA playing silly buggers with this game. I know I am.

Initially I was annoyed with Amazon.co.uk about the exclusion from offering the extra bits, but it's really not their fault (I don't think).

Its EA or Bioware that made the codes inclusion optional for some inexplicable reason. They seem to like going out their way to favour some (like Gamestop) above others.

Why they would think causing all this ruckus is good for business only they will know.

Yes. If you're going to advertise these items as being included with pre-orders, you might want to consider actually putting them in the box. Failing that, tacking on the words 'dependant upon retailer participation' would at least give us fair warning...

This is the reason I am annoyed BioWare/EA for this - and not the retailer that has opted not to do BioWare's work for them.

I did warn when this exclusive stuff was announced we would end up with another mess as BW/EA was playing games that would lead to a disaster yet was told I was a troll. The fact is why the heck did they not just stuff any extra crap in the box? (think Shale/ wardens keep) Why they thought every other company should play their stupid games (amazon get nothing but hassle from this stupid changing offers every 5 minutes)

I just really can't understand why BioWare wouldn't just include the codes inside the box. Is that so difficult? And I have to agree with BTCentral "If they can not live up to their promises, then it is false advertising. It's as simple as that."

It is also noticeable that they have shut up on here now that people have realised that it was BW not amazon who promised them stuff. They were all over this topic happily blaming Amazon for their mess yet now no comment. Typical deflecting the problem onto an innocent third party in my view. Shame on Bioware. This would never of happened at one time.

Thanks, pumpkinman, but it looks like Dutch105 has gotten a response from someone higher up the food chain at Amazon, and is basically what I expect to hear from Amazon when they contact me again.

Though I am curious about this part of response Dutch105 received: "As this promotion was listed on the publisher's website and not on Amazon.co.uk, the publisher will be able to advise whether the pre-order bonuses will be included with your current order on our site."

From that it seems to me that Amazon either a) weren't aware of the offer for Fadeshear and The Lion of Orlais or B) they've forgotten that they opted out of the promotion.

Or am I reading too much into it?

I'm also sorry to hear that there are other retailers out there that are no longer/were never participating in this. Is anyone going to be getting these two items at this rate?
