Call me simple, but it seems as though it should be possible for Bio to fix this. We'll all have CD keys that (presumably) denote the SE edition specifically. I sincerely hope Bio make codes available to SE edition customers via the web.
Your simple!
I had the same thought, seems like it would be an easy solution since all SE customers are pre-ordering the game and therefore should be getting the promised (by Bioware) pre-order bonuses.
Edit: It seems that Game.co.uk is also saying that their SE customers will not be getting the sword and shield either, only the standard pre-order will be.......seems like its rapidly becoming a US customers only offer again if you pre-ordered the SE version.

And if a retailer refuses to do the preorder incentive, it's Bioware's fault? I don't understand your logic here.
The information below makes it more and more evident/implied that it's not, at least with Amazon, a case of the retailer actually ACTIVELY REFUSING, but a case of them not even knowing about it/having been informed. If that is the case the burden of responsibility is with Bioware for not making them aware/not informing them.

I contacted Amazon UK again as their original reply was wholly unsatisfactory. I received this response four hours ago:Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk with your enquiry.
My name is Yousuf and I work in the Customer Escalation Team.
I understand from our message that there is a pre-order promotion running out all over on "Dragon Age 2 (PC DVD)" but Amazon.co.uk is not a participant for this promotion as of yet.
I have now contacted our Marketing and Business team regarding this promotion and explained them about the situation, so that this promotion should also be listed on our website., and provide our customers a best deal.
I will contact you again by February 05, 2011 with an update from the concerned department.
Thank you for your patience and for bringing this matter to our attention.
A pity he wasn't aware that I'm actually down for the 360 version... but this at least this sounds slightly more promising. I'll wait and see what he has to say on Saturday before getting too excited, though...

Pretty standard reply from Amazon. This was intereesting:I believe I'm being dealt with by an email "call center" (probably in india from the agent's name and typos), so I guess there's no way to actually get this to someone who can really help.Rest assured, we have not received any information from the manufacturer to list these free bonus content for preordering on our website for Dragon Age 2 . As soon as we receive the information from the manufacturer, we will add that information to our website
ARGH CAN SOME MOD DELETE THIS POST PLEASE? SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE POST, CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET RID OF THIS ONE.

I would like two dates if possible:
1. The date that the SIG edition pre-order offer ended (ie the date that it became unavailable).
2, The date that the Lion of Orlais and Fadeshear were announced as pre-order bonus items.
This will make it alot easier to be clearer when I phone AmazonUK up and try and get somewhere with them.
If they HAVE been aware of the promo... then they've obviously not been told that it applies to the already pre-ordered sig editions as well as the vanilla editions.
Im still hoping Yousef is going to get back to The Uncanny with some good news. He said he'd reply by tomorrow, so Uncanny, get your aggro pen out if he hasn't replied come sunday!
Also, Triscopic, I would REALLY recommend sending that little snippet you posted and that I quoted to Chris Priestly and seeing what he says in reply. I'd love to see what he has to say to the increasing evidence that AmazonUK never knew about the bonuses.

1. January 11st, 2011
2. I'm not 100% sure but I think the Shield & Sword was announced on the next day, i.e. January 12th, 2011.
BTW, there's another thread about GAME.co.uk on (almost) the same issue.
When I contacted them, their said that "We have currently
received no word from the publisher with regards to us offering these
preorder bonuses with the signature edition, this is always subject to
change however and any developments will be reflected on our website." :-/

Done:
Chris,
I know how busy you must be, but AmazonUK are responding to me and a large number of SE purchasers with the following:Is it possible that there has simply been a communications break down?Rest assured, we have not received any information from the manufacturer to list these free bonus content for preordering on our website for Dragon Age 2 . As soon as we receive the information from the manufacturer, we will add that information to our website
If you have the time to reply, please consider doing so on this thread http://social.biowar...ndex/5750005/17. Alternatively I'm happy to repost any response from you there if it's easier to just reply.
Thank you for your time.
Will let you know if he replies to me instead of in this thread.

Bonus content announcement was done.. 23 days ago by Chris somewhere up in this thread. As for the SE announcement, you can find the original dates in the announcement forum.
As for amazon.co.uk not being aware.. How come they aren't? .com seems aware and .de is certainly aware. This happens more often with amazon.co.uk and knowledge of their bonus items than not.
Anyway, if the system is the same as before.. I do remember this one:
http://dragonage.wik...wiki/Lion's_Paw
Edit; Disclaimer: I'm not promoting pirating here. Some DA:O pre-order bonus items could be found and installed without any alteration, because they didn't need authorisation. Of course this doesn't fly for other DLC.
Not sure what Bio thought of it but one modder created statistically identical counterparts to all the retailer-specific DLC items, but with different names and models (see the DragonAgeNexus - just search for DLC Merchandise). I strongly suspect someone will do the same again with this stuff.
But then again, you see, that's not the point. We believe we should qualify for this content and want it legitimately.

I know, and I want it too. Heck I even removed my post (before I had seen anyone reacting on it). It just feels like a deja vu to me, because I couldn't get pre-order bonus items with my legitimately pre-ordered Dragon Age: Origins CE either. Because of some retail issue (different retailer).Triscopic wrote...

On a side note; the items I was talking about came from ea.com links, not from any modder out there. Like an unofficial release to everyone, without telling.

Hello [yours truly],
Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.
I am sorry to hear that this video games does not come with bonus codes.
I do understand that, this bonus codes are available in Amazon.com and Amazon.de.
Please note that, all the promotions or codes are provided by our supplier or manufacturer [that's you, Bioware/EA] and we do not have an option to include codes from our side.
We rely on the suppliers for up-to-date information regarding the promotion on an item and unfortunately, that's all we have to go by.
I hope that you would understand that being the retailers we are totally dependent on our suppliers.
I can certainly understand that this was not what you expected when you placed your order and would understand if you'd prefer to cancel it. If you do wish to cancel an item or an order, please visit the "Your Account" link at the top of any page of our website, and then click "Cancel or Change Orders". After signing in with your e-mail address and password, you will be able to view your order history and cancel any item or order that has not yet entered the dispatch process
I am sorry if it seems that in this instance we are being uncooperative but we are unable to proceed further.
We hope to see you again
Did I solve your problem? [No.]

The fact that a Bioware employee hasn't posted in this thread recently is not very promising. I hope this is because they are working to solve this.
Amazon seems to have no knowledge of actively not participating in the offer (although this could be due to a lack of internal communication- the people who have been emailed may have nothing to do with the people who would authorise bonus content).
Either way Bioware could do with explaining the situation with some more clarity: how is the bonus content supposed to be issued? what are they currently doing to address the issue as it stands? why can they not offer it directly?
This whole episode seems to be one giant communication fail. Between Amazon and EA, between Amazon and us and between Bioware and us.

Yet more evidence that AmazonUK has had no clue of this promotion even existing. So that's from three separate sources now.
Im not even sure if i need to phone them anymore, cus its pretty obvious what has happened. Bioware need to fix this, their advertising team needs to get back in contact with AmazonUK and explain the situation ASAP, it's no longer good enough to sit back and say "They opted out of the bonus content" any more.

It's not good enough because if those responses from Amazon.co.uk and GAME are correct, they never opted out. The relevant EA department messed things up.
