Very true, but Bioware consistently fail at this, month after month after month.

There is either a serious lack of communication (fatal to any buisness model), they really just don't give a crap, or they fail to learn from past mistakes.

All very worrying options.

Surely by now, they should realsie that even a "sorry, my hands are tied, can't say anything, but have passed on concerns" would go a long way to subduing the justified rage?

So wouldn't it just make sense for the SE boxes to have the pre-order items already on the dvd, or have codes added in?

I'm probably being silly and naive but I don't understand why this is so difficult. Unless the dvds are already burned, boxed and in storage to be shuttled to Amazon.

Thats another discussion Kristof lol...

I still refuse to believe that going 'gold' still means what it used to, I refuse to believe that major companies leave everything till a week before relase date, its just not a good business model lol.....

As for your first comment, yes, that would make sense I agree.

@ Kristof

Because Pre-order items are exclusively offered by participating retailers? why would any retailer participate in these events, if they know that the producer is just going to end up giving these codes to every costumer.

Now i really don't understand. BioWare made the DLC / pre-order items... right? So they give them to the retailers and can't supply it themselves? Oh i give up... :( Civ 5 is calling my name!

well, i'm just guessing here, but i wouldn't be surprised if contracts are involved. The retailers have to agree to certain terms. Imagine yourself as a retailer, trying to get costumers by offering these pre-order items, and then you learn that every buyer, no matter where they ordered, received the items.

I see. The Pre-order bonus items are from the retailer rather than the Signature Pre-Order edition. It's two separate things.

Maybe they should take into consideration the KISS principle next time. :)

Rock n' Roll all night and party every day? I'm not sure that principle would work here to be honest. =]. Couldn't hurt to try though.

I assume the reasoning for all copies of the SE not having all the DLC already in the box is because they were already boxed and shipped before the DLC was finalised. I say I'm assuming thats the reason behind it but I still can't wrap my head around how they hadn't planned all the DLC in advance, it seems a bit absurd to just one day turn round and go "Oh look a sword and shield we forgot to put in the game, what a lovely bonus they will make."

Wait... so the games are already boxed and ready to ship?

Perhaps due to them still testing... presumably if they find a horrendous bug they delay, shipping, toss all the current dvds into the landfill and reburn them all?

Ah, no they'd probably just make a patch that gets installed when everyone registers the game online cos everyone has an internet connection.

Eh, i'm getting too snippy. I'm tired.

I don't honestly know if they are boxed and shipped. But thats the only plausible reason I can think of for them not including the codes in the SE box.

In terms of codes, BioWare/EA could just add the promos to what the code authorizes. I highly doubt they will, but it doesn't seem to be so difficult to do; they did it with the Black Emporium after all and that was announced after the Signature Edition pre-order date as well I think (it wasn't included in the SE originally if I'm not mistaken).

As for the intricacies of the way these promos are given out; sure, contracts sound likely. Not that it helps us much though.

Oh aye I missed your post Tleining. To be honest I'm tired of trying to figure out what went wrong and what their motivations were, its been going on for weeks now and its gotten us nowhere. Its going in circles of blame and reasoning. As Danny Glover once said I'm too old for this sh*t. At this point it looks like we aren't getting any sort of comment or help from anywhere.

well, i still hope that there is something going on behind the scenes, both at bioware and at amazon. plus, the amazon support promised to get back to us with more information, so a little chance there as well.

I'm confused. Is it now too late to get access to the Black Emporium if I haven't pre-ordered? The sword and shield DLC is a bit useless if I'm playing a mage anyway...

If I recall correctly, the Black Emporium is in the box, every new game gets it - pre ordered or not.

The sword and shield is pre-order DLC, at participating retailers only.

The SE Promotion should have stated from the first go : "Bonus Content may vary from participating Stores". And not: Every Preorder of DA2 get upgraded to the SE edition with all it's bonus content, at participating Stores. :?

It does not effect me, as I have not preorderd. But yeah, it's a mess.

Anyone one read the news about misleading advertising with new legislation being brought in from March? Things could get messy if such campaigns are run like this again.

Are you talking about the ASA? I just read that in the Sunday Mail and they were the only watchdogs mentioned. If so, they should have influence over EA's UK site, but I don't know if they can do anything about what and how Bioware advertise. Possibly, as Bioware are part of EA? It could still be a murky area, though.

Without a doubt, but would still be interesting.

By the way, are we at the stage where the promos are definitely a no-no or do we still have a smidgeon of hope?

we still have one or two chances. the amazon.co.uk support promised to investigate and get back to us. I think they wanted to give an answer today (monday 14th). another user was told to wait until the 18th, but it was the same message, still one can hope.

Same here. They told me they'd get back to me today, then a few days ago they wrote again to say I'd hear from them again on the 15th. As they're changing dates for getting back to people I wonder if we're ever going to get answers from them.

OBaka - yes, it will be interesting to see how the ASA's regulation works out .

By the sounds of it Amazon might not know anything until they get the game in stock, which may be too late. Did they give anyone any indication why they have had to extend the deadline?
