I've emailed my complaints to both Amazon & Bioware \\ EA but to be frank don't expect either of them to give a damn. It's a real shame that one of this year's gaming highlights has been tainted in this way... Next time Bioware makes a statement I won't believe it until I see it delivered...

So we're back to square one. That's just great. Remind me never to fight my inner cynic again.

All this bouncing back and forth between Amazon and EA is getting beyond tiresome.

Amazon: It's not my fault.
EA: Yes, it is.
Amazon: No, it's not.
EA: Is so!
Amazon: Is not! Is not! Is not!
Customer: *reaches for the aspirin*

As I mentioned in another thread, I would be quite happy if these two items were offered as some kind of DLC later (either pay or for free). Granted, it wouldn't be what we were told we would get, but I don't mind waiting.

Has there been any indication that they will release Fadeshear and the Lion of Orlais in DLC form later?

It'd be fine if they released these items as DLC. But may I ask why you would be ok with them being paid-for DLC? I wouldn't have a problem with that if they had been intended that way, but we were told that if we pre-ordered we would get them as a free bonus. Why should we then be expected to pay for them if we want them?

It is an option - one that I wouldn't go with - but do you not think that going this route only encourages these kinds of promotions to fail?

I do see what you mean, Absarka. But at this stage I'd prefer to have the option open to me of being able to get them rather than simply being denied access entirely...

Incredibly Bioware are now offering an extra 2 items if a million people download, play and register the demo of DA2... Does that include us second class customers that have preordered from Amazon.co.uk?

Uncanny - I can understand that, especially with the wild goose chase that's going on, and I woudn't begrudge anyone options that I might dislike or disagree with. I wouldn't be up in arms if Bioware did decide to put these items up for a price - I was just wondering if and by how much people would accept that as a viable option given that we were supposed to get them for free.

Ha ha, yes, it's fun, isn't it?

Well, if they make their milliion, I'll be grabbing these goodies before they snatch them out of my hands! Posted Image Got to try to make up for this disappointment somehow. If my computer can run it and doesn't blow up first . . . it's been making some clunking noises recently Posted Image

Good point actually. Are they counting people outside the US for this or do we still not matter? Do we matter now when they want big numbers?

On the other subject I agree with Absarka's original point, paying for it now just encourages them to rip us off again in the future "Well if we just don't give it to them now we can charge them for it at a later date. Hell yeah!!" Its a slippery slope we are on with all this DLC.

Have contacted Gamers Voice and Eurogamer with the details. Maybe one of them will pick this up and ask the hard questions

I don't care who fixes this Bioware or Amazon but I'll be damned if I'll leave any reasonable course of action untried. I'd suggest that if you can think of any game orientated site / forum / publication / pressure group then let them know about what's happening. If we the customer are not important enough to get Bioware to sort this out then maybe the Trade Press / Interwebs might.

Good idea.
Bioware should be helping us out here and apart from there initial response (which was ages ago) they aren't.

Couldn't think of a better phrase.... maybe an industry lobby group would have been a better choice of phrase. How would you describe an organisation like Gamer's Voice? (Please keep it clean :P)

Wow! Amazon UK customer service have just achieved a new level of incompetence.

I have just been informed:

"Further to your e-mail on February 13, 2011, I am contacting you again to let you know that the item "Dragon Age 2 - Signature Edition (PC DVD)" is a GAME exclusive offer.

Because we don't take hold of such offers, you will need to contact Electronic Arts should you be eligible of the bonus items.

I've included the contact information for Electronic Arts below:

http://www.ea.com/

You may have already received an automatic notification, but I wanted to personally update you."

This is despite the fact that the complaint was raised from my Signature Edition pre-order and included the order number!

I think that takes us back to the argument that the whole S.E. thing combined with pre-order bonuses and too much DLC is just too bloody complicated to expect retailers to be able to follow. We know because we care and are following it, they don't they are just getting constant updates from EA which could very well be confusing and complicated.

Whatever happened to the days where you'd get a regular edition and a collector's edition for a little more, and you could simply make your own choice about which one to buy?

The situation we're faced with at present where it's become too complicated for the big corporate entities to understand and they're unwilling to communicate either with each other or their customers is just stupid.  I'm sure either Amazon or EA/Bioware could easily sort this out... but they won't.  One can only speculate as to the reason why, but from where I'm standing such speculation isn't looking too flattering.

And I will be miffed if they then try to sell it to us at a later date.  I'm not big on paying twice for the same thing.

The problem is Bioware know that most of us will stay buy it because we are obsessive about our games and needing every possible piece of kit \\ DLC...

This really is a supreme cluster**** of a situation. I've been following this thread but not joined in until now. My SE pre-order (xbox) is with Amazon UK. I'm sitting here with quiet resignation about the whole affair, but the lack of information and the utter incompetence is unbelievable.

Amazon appears to have no idea what products it actually has listed on its own website, is incapable of reading its customers' emails correctly, and doesn't have a grasp of basic comprehension.

But overall, I very strongly agree that the broader situation of retailer-specific promotions is far too complicated, and all it seems to do is alienate a section of the community. It happened for ME2, and it's happening again for DA2. And I have no doubt it happens for other games and companies as well.

Hmmm, I do agree with you that by agreeing to pay for these two items of DLC that I am not giving Bioware/EA/Amazon.co.uk any reason to improve their system of promotions. So as much as I can, I support you guys writing letters (as I have) expressing our collective disappointment.

However, I personally just want the items. And if Bioware puts them in a DLC pack later, whether for free or for 3 pounds (or however many bioware points), the fact of the matter is that I am not going to quibble very much (I picked up appearance DLC for ME2, so this is not so different).

In the meantime I am content to wait. (However if these items have slipped my grasp, permanently, my disappointment is of course compounded even further, I do hope someone at Bioware has some intention towards putting them up for those of us who missed them, its smart business after all, money = money and all that.)

I understand and share all of our frustration, but Bioware and Bioware games are like an old friend to me (Lot of good memories there). If a friend promises me lunch, but later has to back out due to troubles on his end, I'm disappointed of course, but I'm not going to let it affect how I feel about said friend.

But thats just me.

Well, given that promo dlcs rarely ever get released as an optional purchase I think it's something we can put aside.

The comment about SE being a GAME exclusive would certainly cause a panic though.

Well, (not as an optional purchase, so I'm not gainsaying you here), weren't the Dalish Promise Ring, the Lion's Paws, The Edge released for free later? (As I recall those were all retailer specific promotions)

On the Mass Effect side, the inferno armor was originally a promo DLC that later got released (for free was it, I don't recall? Edit: Ah, it was part of the equalizer DLC) The incisor sniper rifle was for the deluxe collector's edition, but was later released as part of the Aegis pack DLC.

So I wouldn't say rarely.

That's not too bad then. It's just a shame that dlcs are not universally accessible by all. I don't think the Collector edition items for DA were released separately. That sort of thing just gets my goat. Ah well, could be worse...Amazon could decide to cancel all orders for the SE.

You will get the rest. :)

Edit: Just to make clear, you will not get the bold part.
