Yes, ME2 had Pre-Order-Items, whose codes were sent by e-mail. Worked without Problems. Same for DA:O.

Perhaps Bioware could do something along the lines of sending people who pre-ordered from Amazon the codes for said items, if we register our games as proof of purchase, ala Dragon Age Origins etc.?
Just a thought for resolving this mess, and I'm guessing not too many people will register their games anyway so it might not require too much effort?

sorry, that's not possible. I don't know if it was posted somewhere, but someone asked Chris via PM. For some reason they can't do it.

Probably because of the deals they made with other retailers (they can't offer for free something that was part of the pricing deal with Game).
Again, this points even more strongly to EA having stuffed up (they didn't make it clear anywhere that preorder deals were different. Amazon has never advertised anything they aren't delivering. It's EA who subsequenly added these extra items and didn't make any clear indication as to who was offering them).

Can't or won't. I'm sure they could. And if they can't why not tell us WHY not.
Why is it so hard for people to explain WHY? If bioware and amazon could just offer a reason instead of just an answer it would make it so much easier for people to understand. This whole episode just seems like such bad business practice, when you consider we're paying customers we deserve not to be ignored. Ignoring your customers is the first step towards dimise, although I admit this is a minor issue - two small items I may never use (if i had them)-it's the principle that counts.
Edit: Whilst it's not impossible, I think it's improbably that what City is saying is true, if it was it wouldn't just be that EA essentially charges for the bonus content otherwise surely Amazon would undercut the competition, they'd say hey we don't have these 2 items but we're selling it £2 cheaper than everywhere else, buy it from us. Ofcourse in the case of the signature edition the price couldn't be changed, which leads me to think that if what City was saying was true then it wouldn't be a price difference.
Thinking about it in order for Bioware to give out the items to signiture editions they'd really need to know both that it was a signature edition and that it was ordered from amazon or everyone else would be able to get two. However quite why they couldn't have put the codes in all signature edition boxes, I don't know. The only reason I could think of would be to stop retailers getting confused - because that went well.

What makes you think that was added recently? That is like the basic Signature Edition description. O.oLawliet89 wrote...
If you look carefully at the signature edition page on Amazon UK, it says:

Dear Mr XXX
Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.
My name is Jon and I work in the customer escalation team– please find below answers to your points raised in your email:
Firstly let me apologise for the inconvenience you have experienced.
I have reviewed your previous correspondents and I understand that you wish to attain a pre-order code for the game Dragon Age 2.
I understand that this code is offered on Amazon.com and Amazon.de but not Amazon.co.uk.
Please understand that the information provided in our last message correctly represents our policy at this time.
As my colleague previously mentioned, although we are affiliated, all orders and promotions with Amazon.com are independent of any orders with Amazon.co.uk. This means that we can’t order items from another Amazon site or search for order information placed on another site.
If you have seen a Pre-Order Promotion on a Video Game product sold on another website, possibly even Amazon.com, Amazon.fr or Amazon.de, but do not see the same offer listed on Amazon.co.uk, it means that the Promotion is not available on Amazon.co.uk.
We are always seeking ways to improve the customer experience of shopping on Amazon.co.uk, but we regret we cannot tell customers about any offers that may be available at a future time.
For details on all our current Pre-Order Promotions, you can find the information at the following URL:

Feel slightly let down here, both from Bioware (lack of communication for the most part) and Amazon (giving the ol' runaround).
Ah well, first time for everything, no learning without pain and all that.
By the way, does anyone think it possible that for us PC gamers, reasonable facsimiles of these two items might be made available via the modding community? As I recall, there were DLC item mods for DAO.

Edit: Ha! Just cancelled my Deus Ex Human Revolution order with them with a rather snippy note. Not that I expect that anyone will read it, but moral victories are victories too.

I feel inclined with the next Bioware game to make sure I know what DLC will be offered where before I put down my order. Also, amazon.co.uk will not be my automatic first choice for place to order from, I suppose.

At the end of the day they are only in game items so we are not missing out on that much however it's just the whole moral double standard considering the UK release date is later than the ~North American and the UK are also missing out on some freebies and everyones just thrown their hands up like "We can;t do anything"

uh, what? Where do you disagree? I never questioned our right to complain. We did that.
As to who is at fault: I would have agreed with you in the beginning, but with amazons support asking for time to investigate without ever producing any actual results, I'm not so sure anymore. Especially since other uk-retailers are offering the Bonus-Items. It's looking more and more to be amazons fault, and they are doing nothing to rectify it.
There's the brokering of the deal itself. There Amazon indeed made a blunder.
But...
If the two items were indeed anounced, as you said, after the SE time limit then somebody at EA or Bioware decided to have a preorder retailer dependent item BUT did not wish to inform us of that fact before we already signed up for the SE at "whatever" retailer.
I call that trying to trick you most loyal customers, and that move has been decided by someone at EA or Bioware.
I already felt that the Prince pre order bonus was somewhat underhanded (compared to the way the Cerberus & Shale bonus worked) but that defintely looks like it. Unless the items were advertised prior to the SE time limit, but I sure don't remember seeing them on the website when I preordered my SE copy.

Yeah, the blame circle is a bit annoying now. Goodness me, I've actually given serious contemplation to cancelling my pre-order, getting the game.com regular edition that comes with sword and shield, and just paying for Sebastian and the extra items when they are released as DLC.
Then I realized that that was a mugs game.

That's right
If they give me 'we're still investigating . . .' I'm likely to crawl into the foetal position in a dark corner and start sobbing uncontrollably. I know I'm repeating myself, but it really can't be that hard for them to know if they weren't advised of the offer or if they decided not to partake in it.
Stardusk - there is no cancellation penalty. Amazon do not charge you until the item ships from their warehouse, so you still have time to do that and order elsewhere, like Game.co.uk or Play.com (though some people have been having bigger problems with Play than not getting pre-order freebies).

Did hear back from Gamer's Voice.
"Thanks for getting in touch about Dragon Age 2
We are investigating, it looks like Amazon.uk is participating in the Signature edition pre-order scheme (new character and items) from but not the sword/shield.
The order page has been changed to not include amazon.uk,
We will contact Bioware about this and look into what was advertised in the small print, if you have any further information please email us so we can get a better understanding of what has arisen.
Regards"
Maybe we'll see a result, but it is hard to be optimistic... Bioware really need to simplify the preorder bonus \\\\ DLC nonsense going forward. The positive PR from their generous "offer" of the bonus items being given to ALL *cough* Signature Edition preorders is now turning negative... loyal customers deserve better, especially when it is such an easy fix to tie those 2 items to the Signature Edition product keys.... I will think long and hard about preordering any other Bioware games, just in case they pull another "Signature Edition"... once bitten twice shy.

Hmm, could be either "the problem's been fixed, you'll get all the DLC!" or "we'll investigate this further and get back to you in a week's time"? Of course it couldn't possibly be the latter...Absarka wrote...
