Well after 9 days Amazon.co.uk finally came back with a definitive reply...

This is a quick email to let you know that we just heard back from our concerned team and as per their description, there is no promotion available for this item.

I have listed step by step instructions on how to cancel items or complete orders below.

Once this has been done, your item/order is cancelled, and you will receive an e-mail confirming the cancellation. Cancelled orders will
no longer appear in your order history.

I have cancelled all my other Amazon UK orders as they are all PC game related and placed them with GAME and a couple with Gamestop in the US... Amazon UK were just a lazy way for me to do my preordering, but that said the service from both GAME and Gamestop seems superior... they have both replied to queries about bonus content that I made last night (once bitten, twice shy).
