Cheers. The sad part is I now realise I have heard of them, the guys Michael Pachter was ripping into a few weeks ago. I'm not holding my breath for much success but its worth a go I suppose. :wizard:

@Absarka
My money is on they are continuing to investigate and have given you a new date.

Ah, vometia, you know them too well. I'm beginning to think they're incapable of saying anything else.

Druss - re this thread: Yup, the Black Emporium is in the box. It's possible that Amazon are referring to that and the SE exclusives as a pre-order promotion, which they were in order to encourage pre-orders of the game before a certain date.

The reason I was querying the context is because on the DA website it states: 'Pre-order offer is available to all PS3 players when they purchase and login to the game with a valid EA account prior to May 31, 2011.' Admittedly, I've not read all of the small print there - or know much about consoles - but that seems to indicate that no code is necessary for PS3 users for the sword and shield.

If I've misunderstood that, fair enough :). That then raises the question of why Amazon are giving so many other people the runaround, unless they originally were going to offer these items and then for some reason backed out. Personally, I think that e-mail was a mistake or misunderstanding on Amazon's part, but it piqued my curiosity.

@ Absarka - I think your right and its a mistake/misunderstanding on Amazon's part. The reason I had jumped into that conversation was them telling that guy they were emailing codes out. Theres only one promotion that needs to be emailed out and thats the sword and shield.

I'd say theres a code required because just logging in isn't goin to prove its a new purchase/pre-order and not second hand. Probably just means you have to login then enter your code.

Either way that email just muddied the already very murky waters even further.

Sorry, Druss, I didn't mean to cut you off in the other thread.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was just taking what was said on the official site as read and that all that was needed was a login for PS3s. Good point about used games.

Muddy waters indeed. It's also possible - likely, even, from the conflicting responses people have been getting - that at some point Amazon mistook what's now known to be in the box with being e-mail codes they were expecting to receive.

But if it turns out that they were originally going to offer the sword and shield (if that poster chooses to respond or if Amazon have said the same to anyone else) that might give us a bit more leverage in finding out what's going on at their end. Heh, wishful thinking.

I love the BS at the bottom...

I have cancelled all my other Amazon UK orders as they are all PC game related and placed them with GAME and a couple with Gamestop in the US... Amazon UK were just a lazy way for me to do my preordering, but that said the service from both GAME and Gamestop seems superior... they have both replied to queries about bonus content that I made last night (once bitten, twice shy).

Never worry about it, Absarka. I don't own a PS3 anymore but I can't see the pre-order offers working any way other than with codes.

@ Jak Tor in fairness to Amazon in almost a decade of using them almost exclusively this is the first time I've had any sort of problem with them or their customer service. I personally think that asking their customer service team who might not be gamers at all and possibly working in a second language to understand the stupid complications of this whole dlc thing is pushing it a bit and I'm not surprised theres so much confusion on their end.

Perhaps someone who has had a reply stating they are not participating in the promotion should bring up the other email from the other thread about the codes being emailed out. It seems different people on the team are giving out different information, and they should surely be made aware of this?

For the PS3 based on the fine print, it appears that there is no need for codes for the pre-order bonuses(Fadesheer, Lion of Orlais, Irons, and maybe Amulet of Ashes). This appears to be a limit related to PSN for some reason. The offer appears to work in the same manner as the Ser Isaac armor, namely you don't need a new copy for the items, and you could in fact get them simply by renting the game prior to the offer cut off. Looking at the offer text, it actually looks like the Black Emporium might work on the same principle, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

@Druss99 in fairness I have never had any issues with Amazon UK either prior to this, but then again I have never had any issues with Play.com, GAME or Gamestop at all. I shall now give them preference for games and leave Amazon for what I originally used it for - books.

Maybe that's the problem, Amazon now covers everything from books to toasters and they lack the time \\ resources to look into all the in and outs of gaming DLC \\ preorder bonuses...

Well thats all my gaming pre-orders with amazon cancelled. It seems they just don't want to play the DLC game anymore (noticed they aren't offering anything for the Witcher 2 either), which is fine, because other stores seem eager enough for my business.
Maybe this can be the start of a boycott Amazon.co.uk for games thing? In protest, like?

Slightly OT, but I've just had a reminder of all this shenanigans when EA sent me an email trying to get me to buy Bulletstorm with the promise of free stuff.  Their ad showed a picture of the DVD, but the promo code put a digital download in my basket.  I don't want a digital download, I don't like digital downloads.  I like DVDs, just like the one in the picture in the email they sent me.  But if I choose the DVD version, it deletes all the free stuff, even though that's the version that they imply qualifies for the special offer.

I'm having a real case of déjà vu going on here.

If there's a point, it's that like others, I've also found that Amazon UK have typically gone out of their way to help when I've had problems in the past and this malarky is unusual for them.  However, it's not unusual for the other company involved...

Edit: for what it's worth, if I do take a fancy to Bulletstorm, Amazon has it for a tenner less than the EA Store anyway.  Okay, it doesn't have "Special Edition" written on it, but having "Special Edition" written on it is about the only added extra I expect the Special Edition version to have considering past form.

Ok so I got my 4th reply from Amazon - And guess what... They wanted me to wait another week which would have taken me to the 3rd and then most likely another week which would have taken me to the 10th and they would have shipped before telling me they aren't doing it.

So I got them to call me as I wasn't happy and spoke to a supervisor in the Escalation team... They are going to look in to the whole deal and get me an answer one way or another on Monday, also they are looking into the employee who was blatantly shining me on...

I would have had 'Two Worlds 2;' to take my mind off of all this but I had placed my order with Game and now it seems that Amazon have exclusivity and its been pushed back to Monday... so won't get it till wednesday and i'm working through till the 11th.... Arrghhh

At least i'm getting the demo soon...

Damn that sounds like alot of aggro and he has fobbed you off again, this time vocally. What exactly are they looking into now? Surely with the amount of questions about this very thing they would have flagged it as a common complaint and come up with some sort of pre-made answer. If all these guys investigating it are going to the same place to investigate it then surely it must be raising a flag there and someone is tired of constantly answering the same set of questions. Either that or no one knows and no one has bothered or been able to find out.

Heh. I e-mailed them again after my last 'update' asking if they could simply answer yes or no as to whether they had taken the decision not to offer these items. Strangely enough, the answer I got was that they had informed my customer rep that I was enquiring about this matter again - and he/she would get back to me on 1st March.

Depending on their next response to Childofbaahl, it will be interesting to see how long Amazon keep up giving non answers.

Call me paranoid...

But I'm beginning to get the distinct notion that Amazon may have told EA where to stick it...and EA replied badly...possibly with a 'we will never offer you something again'....

Closely followed by a .....'tell your customers nothing....or else' sort of deal heh.....

I don't think that's paranoid, it's just the world of non-disclosure agreements, exclusives and too many lawyers. :(

You're paranoid! Posted Image

That's certainly one explanation. I can just imagine EA grinning maliciously and rubbing their hands together conspiratorially as they try to come up with ways to stop Amazon knowing anything about their games.

Judging from what I've read on various forums and from Amazon's internal forums... It seems that Amazon.co.uk have stopped offering promotional DLC completely... They were supposed to be offering a special set of armour for 'The Witcher - 2" but they aren't and it is causing havoc as other sites are giving sets that boost magic, alchemy or whatever and Amazon was given the offer of having the combat suit... .de, .fr and .com are all doing it, just not the .co.uk branch... If this is the case then they can kiss almost all of my pre-orders good-bye... ME3 will surely have the same stuff going on as DA2... Looks like as Game are doing DLC for DA2 and W: 2 that they are going to receive a massive boost in profits...

How can Amazon condone this, this will seriously hurt their profits, PC, Xbox and PS3 gamers will just stop pre-ordering from them... I'm only going to buy games from them that aren't DLC dependant or are extremely cheap

I can't see them keeping this up, they'll hopfully see the error or their ways and beg us for forgiveness with fantastic offers and discounts...

But do you not think that in itself is very odd Childofbaahl?

Certainly not conducive to good business......so there has to be a lot more to it than it looks from our perspective.

That is a strange situation and doesn't make alot of sense, why would they willingly give their competitors a leg up on them? Who publishes TW2? Is it still Atari?

Yes Atari again I believe Druss...

And that's whats so odd, why would you intentionally turn business away to your competetion, it does not make any sense at all. Thus, there must be something more to this.
