Whatever's happening with DA2, I could understand if they were having gripes with EA, but if they're taking this stance with other publishers . . . that doesn't seem right. Do they have a new CEO or something?

Now I'm a bit worried since I have the Collector's Edition pre-ordered and have just seen that Amazon are no longer selling it; maybe I'm just feeling a bit twitchy as Game have just cancelled my pre-order of the special edition of Two Worlds 2 for no obvious reason, but now I can't re-order it from them. And then there's the Fable 3 fiasco as well as the subject at hand.Absarka wrote...
That is very strange. Is that a recent thing for Witcher 2? I haven't been to their forums for a while, but didn't they have AmazonUk listed as a supplier of pre-order bonuses at one time?
I rather feel like I'm living in "The Age of Incompetence" at least as far as games marketing is concerned.

You can't force a company to sell or offer something if they do not wish to. (if indeed that is the issue)

Edit: Also, I'm hoping that with some pressure, we'll finally get some real answers, as opposed to just finger pointing. Isn't that what government consumer satisfaction organizations do? Put pressure on the stores on our behalf?

May I remind you (if you already knew) that slandering and giving a company a bad reputation is actually a criminal offence. Trust me, contact whatever authority you like, they won't do anything, because of that exact reason.
The issue lies primarily with every Uk company offering something (to my knowledge) with the exception of Amazon.co.uk. Now IIRC, they have never said they were offering anything for DA2....it was Bioware who said that. Now we know that Amazon are not....you're calling foul and wanting to 'warn' people about them?
I think we should get our facts first, and as has been said before, Amazon have proven themselves to be a very competent and reliable company in the past, which is more than can be said of EA.

With all the complications of internal politics, business deals and agreements (none of which are actually subject to the FOA)....what exactly are they going to find out?
Gamers voice have no more power than you and me.

I am, as you are, trying to get the facts. I think its been proven that all our letters to amazon.co.uk hasn't gotten anything like the truth. So, if Gamer's Voice can prove more successful, why not?

i emailed chris asking which version does the presented ASIN code belong to.
namely this one
edit: just realized this wouldn't work, wasn't the code i thought it was.

Well, all I'm asking Gamer's Voice to do is to look into it (whether they want to or not, thats another issue). If their investigations (should they pursue them) turn up that EA is at fault, or blame falls on both, then I am equally satisfied.
Gamer's Voice is an advocacy organization. Being an organization, they are already better equipped than me to do, well, basically anything. But hey, if nothing happens, then I've lost nothing either.

But lets be frank here, exactly who is your beef with? Amazon never said to my knowledge, thye were giving away these 2 items. Bioware did.
Now we have a situation, where Bioware said, EVERY pre-order gets them. So, even if Amazon have opted out themselves (for whatever odd reason to us)....why are Bioware/EA not willing to give the items to us themselves?
After all, it was them (and not Amazon) who said you would get them......

This whole thread is only about the sword and the shield right?
The problem is even if I would cancel my amazon.co.uk preorder I could not preorder the signature edition somewhere else as it is no longer available.
On the other hand, everybody who preordered the signature edition should be eligible for the preorder items by default.

Sorry I'm a bit thick, whats the actual question?abovetheangels wrote...
Okay so I have not pre ordered from Amazon before but I did for the Sig Edition. So on regular Amazon.com are they including the shield and sword pre order bonuses along with the black emporium in the Sig Edition copies. Im sure this question has been answere before but I was curious and didnt want to scroll through more pages to find it thanks.
If you pre-ordered the Sig Edition from Amazon.co.uk then you get everything except the sword and shield.
If you pre-ordered from Amazon.com and I think any other branch like Amazon.de then you get everything.

nice, looks like we are finally getting somewhere. Thank you for taking the initiative. I don't have much hope left, but at least we will (hopefully) get a clear answer. (ah, there is that that small spark of hope i have left
@ Autolycus
"Now IIRC, they have never said they were offering anything for DA2....it was Bioware who said that."
no they didn't, no one ever said that amazon.co.uk would offer sword and shield, we just assumed it.
@ prototype00
"No, but you can spread the news that the company is not willing to offer full value to the discerning gamer."
full value? I think you are missing the point here. amazon is selling the game DA2. That is the full value you pay for, that is the full value you receive. If they would advertise, that you receive additional content when you preorder with them, and then remove that content, you would be right, people would need to be warned. But that hasn't happened here.
@ Topic
okay, i really don't want to search through those 30 pages, so for the future: what alternatives do we really have? Play.com cancelled preorders, so i don't really want to use them. Were there any problems with game.co.uk preorders? Are there other uk-retailers that are reliable?

But thats exactly what I mean. That kind of organisation has no power. all either company has to do is say none of your business....and that would be the end of it. (which is what I meant by having no more of a voice than us.)

You seem to think I have a beef with specifically Amazon.co.uk or EA. I don't know enough to have said beef. Amazon is who my order is with, so I've asked Gamer's Voice to give them a once over, simple as that. And that is as frank as I can put it.
In the spirit of inquiry that you seem to be engaging in, did EA run over your cat or something? I am currently more than ready to blame both Amazon.co.uk and EA in this incident, you seem more... pro amazon? Correct me if I'm wrong?

they sent me this email I swear I'll never shop there again
Hello
Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.
I have checked and confirmed that it is in USA version, and as per your request I have cancelled your order #203-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for this game "Dragon Age 2 - Signature Edition (PS3)" and you have not been charged for it.
For future reference, you can cancel any items yourself when you visit Your Account ("Cancel items or orders"). As long as the item has not entered the dispatch process, you will be able to cancel it.
Once an item or an order is cancelled, you'll receive an e-mail to confirm the cancellation. Cancelled orders no longer appear in your order history.
Thank you for choosing to shop with Amazon.co.uk.
