full value? I think you are missing the point here. amazon is selling the game DA2. That is the full value you pay for, that is the full value you receive. If they would advertise, that you receive additional content when you preorder with them, and then remove that content, you would be right, people would need to be warned. But that hasn't happened here.

Fair enough, I concede your point. Amazon.co.uk hasn't done anything objectively wrong to me, indeed. Still, is it wrong that I want the current state of affairs (that those of us who preordered from amazon.co.uk can agree is unsatisfactory) looked into?

they sent me this email I swear I'll never shop there again
Hello

Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.

I have checked and confirmed that it is in USA version, and as per your request I have cancelled your order #203-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for this game "Dragon Age 2 - Signature Edition (PS3)" and you have not been charged for it.

For future reference, you can cancel any items yourself when you visit Your Account ("Cancel items or orders"). As long as the item has not entered the dispatch process, you will be able to cancel it.

Once an item or an order is cancelled, you'll receive an e-mail to confirm the cancellation. Cancelled orders no longer appear in your order history.

Thank you for choosing to shop with Amazon.co.uk.

They had told me it was the USA version too, but I decided not to cancel my preorder just yet as it could well be a missunderstanding, which seems to be the case.

Maybe you can get them to reactivate yours?

Now I'm a bit worried since I have the Collector's Edition pre-ordered and have just seen that Amazon are no longer selling it; maybe I'm just feeling a bit twitchy as Game have just cancelled my pre-order of the special edition of Two Worlds 2 for no obvious reason, but now I can't re-order it from them.  And then there's the Fable 3 fiasco as well as the subject at hand.

I rather feel like I'm living in "The Age of Incompetence" at least as far as games marketing is concerned.

Oh, dear goodness. Sorry you're having such a bad time with new games, vometia Image IPB. Maybe you'll have better luck getting whatever DLCs you're due from CDProjektRed than we're having with Bioware? They seem to be more about putting the gamers first.

In other news - so, what . . .? Amazon have an exclusive on another game, but aren't willing to offer bonuses? I mean, yes, they're different things and having an exclusive on a title is a major thing. I'd have thought they'd be more concerned with things like that than being piddly about bonus items.

I agree with prototype - we're getting nowhere fast (or at all) with Amazon, and it never hurts to ask if someone else can try to get a proper answer from them.

Not wrong no and as you said yourself you haven't lost anything by trying so theres really no harm in trying. I think what people are trying to say is don't expect to get anywhere with it.

okay, i really don't want to search through those 30 pages, so for the future: what alternatives do we really have? Play.com cancelled preorders, so i don't really want to use them. Were there any problems with game.co.uk preorders? Are there other uk-retailers that are reliable?

Is local retailer out of the question for you? I'm thinking I might just stick to that as I usually do but god knows what way ME3 will work, it could force me into online ordering again the way DA2 did. From what I've seen Game are the best bet for ordering online if Amazon are no longer going to doing DLC.

That sux steve...someone needs to take reading skills over there me thinks....getting worse...

proto....would not say was neccessarily 'pro' Amazon, but I am certainly 'anti' EA, and have never tried to hide that fact on these forums (though that has got me into trouble more than once hehe)....but anyway....

As for future pre-orders....also never had any problems with Game either....and will probably use them for my ME3 pre-order....

Problem with the SE is, time has run out for ordering it, so it's either suck it up.....cancel get a standard elsewhere and buy the DLC....or wait till it's all cheaper in price....not much else to do really is there.

As for me personally, as annoying as it is, I'm not getting my SE from a 'retailer'.....so I wouldn't get them either way anyway...but personally I would be sending EA/Bioware letters...asking them to honour what the community manager said you would get.

The items aren't a big deal for me, either. But we were told that all pre-orders qualified for them and it now turns out that's not the case. I just want to know why, and who's responsible as that may affect my purchasing decisions in the future.

@ prototype00

no, it's not wrong. but Childofbaahl managed (or will manage) to receive answers from amazon directly, without involving some other organisation. It might take a lot of patience, but i prefer that. In my experience, involving additional parties only ends up in additional problems.

@ Druss99

pretty much, yes. I would like to get the pre-order-items, and i don't think any of the local retailers are participating in those. Plus, preordering from the uk saves me roughly 10€, even with all additional fees ^_^

People really need to stop pre-ordering from Amazon. This kind of stuff happens every release. Another common occurrence is...your shipment got delayed! :)

Really? I never had problems with Amazon.co.uk before, and their stuff tends to arrive much faster than when ordering from other retailers.

ive never had problems with amazon before either. and to be honest right now, as irritating as they're being, i'd much rather be on the AmazonUK boat than the Play.com boat what with all the SIG Ed orders they're cancelling.

Unfortunately some of the replies ARE starting to sound more like it's a case of Amazon boycotting Project Ten Dollar as opposed to not knowing about the DLC. There are similar problems with The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings and it's retailer specific DLC.

Except one thing...The developers of The Witcher 2 do NOT want any DRM, and they will beak their contract if their publisher demands a lot of it. The digital versions have no DRM. There is DRM on most, if not all, EA products.

So to compare the two...is silly.

So, can anyone explain exactly what is going on with the Signature Edition if pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk? 30+ pages of conflicting info and all that..

Are those of use who pre-ordered the SigED still getting what was on offer, i.e. soundtrack, Exiled Prince DLC? And are we getting all the offers since then, i.e. The Black Emporium, etc.?

Or is it a case of none of the above? And that I'll just end up with a retail copy from Amazon with no bonuses whatsoever?

@ PopeTackler

right now, amazon.co.uk is not offering Fadeshear and Lion of Orlais. If you preorderd the Sig-Edition, you will definitely receive Soundtrack, Exiled Prince and the ingame Armory. The Black Emporium is included as well.

As of right now we are getting everything except the Lion of Orlais shield and Fadeshear Sword from Amazon.co.uk.

Edit: What Tliening said.

Right, that's a bit disappointing really, but luckily we're still receiving the DLCs for free.

Thanks for the infos. :)

I have to say that by the looks of things the Customer Service reps are
faffing a lot of people around so I can see where the frustration is
coming from.

Wait what? I wasn't talking about DRM at all.

AmazonUK are not offering promo DLC for DA2.

AmazonUK are not offering promo DLC for Witcher 2.

and likening the situations of the two is silly? Wut?

Update regarding the whole USA or EU version thing:

"
Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.

My name is Jon and I work in the customer escalation team– please find below answers to your points raised in your email:

Firstly let me apologise for the inconvenience you have experienced.

I have reviewed your previous correspondents and I understand you wish to know if the item ''Dragon Age 2 (PS3)'' is the Us version or the European version.

I have investigated this matter further and I can see that this game is the European version and I understand you have been given an estimated dispatch date of 03/03/2011.

This date is incorrect and your order will be dispatched on the 11/03/2011.

This situation was the result of a combination of technical and human errors, and I am truly sorry for any inconvenience caused.

We certainly didn't intend for this to happen and I hope you will give us another opportunity to prove the quality of our service to you.

I hope this information helps.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.co.uk"

So it IS the European version. That's a relief... unless they're wrong again <_<

Dont think play.com will be any better either tbh, I ordered my sig ed from them the day that it was announced only to receive this email from them only yesterday

We are sorry that we have been unable to complete your order.

Unfortunately this item was only available in limited quantities and all
stock has now been sold. As it is unlikely that we will be able to offer
the item again in the near future we have cancelled the order.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you
and thank you for your patience and valued custom.

Kind Regards,

Customer Support Team
Play.com

Their levels of incompetance have left me angry and i'd advise all other people that ordered their sig ed from play.com to check their email just incase they let you down as well -.-

lookslike i'll be heading to my local GAME or some other high street store to pick up my copy.

As much as I'd like the
sympathy, it was more a lament about the general state of games
marketing at the moment, which seems to have degenerated to the point
where problems of this sort have almost become the norm.

Maybe I should look closer at the likes of CD Projekt in future...

I've long since made a personal policy of avoiding Game too: they have a nasty habit of hanging on to pre-order bonus codes and when they do so, no amount of emailing will persuade them to part with them.  I'll use Game if there's absolutely no choice (which is sadly frequent since they're good at getting themselves exclusives) but they pretty much conceived the DLC problems we're seeing here.
