I can understand that, and you have been quite civilized in this discussion, which I appreciate. I hoep things work out for you somehow.

As for SE, yeah I know. I got my SE preorder from Amazon.com a long time ago. I then got a preorder from EA and Bestbuy for their items.

Yeah, you too.

Also, I realised after I posted the reply that I miss understood what you were saying about the SE. I *thought* you were saying that someplaces still offer SE so people could still get it (and so cancel current SE orders)...I now realise I just miss read your comment and you were not saying that at all lol

My bad.

Still, it seems this has pretty much come to a head. I think everything that can be said has been said (From customers  at least). Think I'll let this thread fade into the background now, kinda getting tired of making constant posts to bump it back to the front page (These forums move WAY too fast lol)
If anyone else wants to take over, be my guest ^_^

If Bioware were going to add anything they would have done it by now, they can hardly claim they haven't noticed. We (the customers) have hit a brick wall tbh.

Thanks to you good people I was able to cancel my order with Amazon and re order with Game who state the bonus content comes with the pre order. Not much help to those who have already committed to Amazon (sorry) but you stopped me adding to their profits.

Honestly, right now it seems likely to me that EA intended this to happen all along; that they had the SE promo to get preorders prior to 12th January, then when that had run its course, created a new promotion to drum up more orders, and the customers who didn't guess correctly... well, too bad for them, but we're not likely to lose out since they won't want to throw away their upgraded edition they're now locked into at a particular retailer. I doubt EA is interested in 'fixing' something that wasn't a mistake or a miscommunication in the first place, and I imagine Bioware's hands are tied, if they're not themselves complicit in the whole mess. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on that, on account of their general awesomeness.

I feel like I owe Amazon an apology for blaming them, really.

My best hope is that they at least warn whoever's at fault. A marketing campaign shouldn't have "approve -10" as a result.

Even after reading this threadnought, I am still totally bewildered and baffled by whose "fault" it really is....

What disappoints me most is that regardless of where the fault lies, it's the "paying customers" who pre ordered months ago that are getting the shaft and some resentment is only natural. The only current visible solution is to buy a second copy (good for Bioware profits, bad for customer wallets....).

If this content was really offered free to all retailers, why not show some goodwill and give the items to everyone who installs the game in the first week (or two)?

At least the content is still limited and customers are happy again.....

I must admit to being still slightly bitter about having to buy a 2nd copy of DA1 because I could not get Wardens Peak with mine. To have something similar happen to the games sequel just taints what is supposed to be a wholly positive experience a little and I am rapidly thinking about just replaying the Baldurs Gate series and never having to worry about pre orders and DLC. :(

EDIT: I just read that the UK gets a release date 3 days later than most other areas (Conspiracy Mode On)....

Nice. And all of this content is available to everyone who pre-ordered DA2, no matter which retailer we pre-ordered at?

Yes. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

That's been the case ever since the release dates were announced, and it's because of the standard day of the week on which games are released. In the UK it's Fridays, so we have to wait longer for the game (and so does the rest of Europe). It's silly, but there's no conspiracy to it - every other publisher does the same.

That's kind of my point though, It doesn't make any sense these days because of the Internet. What's the point?

It's a publisher decision, so why not go with simultaneous worldwide release and not niggle your customers again?....

In any case, Amazon drop games through my letter box on any given day, so not everyone complies to arbitrary release dates.

Anyway, back on topic:

Keep your promises Bioware, please..... :)

Major retailers were participating. Anyone ordering from anything like Amazon or Play-Asia will unlikely get the bonuses. I already checked that EB games is doing the bonuses IF you ordered the SE. No word on standard preorder though.

Amazon and Play (as well as Game) are major retailers here in the UK. If EB stands for Electroniques Boutique, we haven't had those stores for many years: they were bought by Game if I recall correctly.

So we've gone from participating retailers to Game being the only participating retailer. Would have been nice if we'd been told this previously, and I would ask Bioware and EA to please let us know these things in advance of any deadlines in the future.

Out of curiosity - the Amulet of Ashes is a Play exclusive, which is fair enough as it was never advertised otherwise. But was this item revealed before or after the SE cut off? I'm just wondering how much of this boils down to bad timing.

Edit for typos.

Bumping this up again, only to say that Today the DA2.com bonus items page has been updated to make it a LOT more clear how those items are obtained. Sadly, this is a case of "too little too late" for some of us in this thread, but that said, it does restore my faith somewhat in Bioware/EA that they have addressed the way their add was worded.

So, yeah, there you go. Hope its a lesson learned from BW/EA (Word adds better) and to us lot here (Read the small print lol). Probably gonna skip these boards now to avoid spoilers. See you all post-DA2 ending!

Good thing they changed it now (about 2 months too late), so what about granting the missing items to the people that preordered/play on release week?

Dang!! kinda wished I hadn't seen this but glad I have....

I thought from the Bioware site that ALL pre-orders from whereever got some bonus items!!!!

I've just had a reply back from Zavvi (Where I get all my stuff) and they also know nothing about pre-order codes etc - they just told me I had to buy direct from Bioware!! but they didn't have that option...

I really can't help but feel conned....surely there is something they can do? My pre-order has been dispatched so unless I switch suppliers and hope to send the one back i have, which seems madness......I'll cross my fingers and hope someone sees sense in what's happening :(

Edit: This refers to the XBOX 360 version

Yeah, I've preordered from zavvi (PC SE) and I'm pissed that I won't get the Fadeshear and Lion of Orlais. The DA2 site clearly stated (well, now it doesn't...) that ALL preorders will get them, and I've even got the SE! But what happens - my SE, which is supposed to be the premium edition of the game, doesn't have items which NORMAL!!! editions have, provided that they're preordered from the rich retailers.
It's stupid, I'm gonna send rage mails until a valid argument is given or I have these 2 items.

Wasn't it mentioned that the two dlcs were GAME and GameStation exclusives? Can't remember where on the forums I read that. But that still contradicts the info we were given earlier concerning the process (that it wasn't Amazon.co.uk's decision in the first place).

Regardless, now waiting for my SE to turn up.

yeah its a case of they've changed the wording of their add/promise to coincide with what's happening, as opposed to changing what's happening to coincide with their promise. They took the easy option out, and that easy option leaves us without two pretty cool sounding levelling items.

This is getting on my nerves...when I pre-ordered my SE the Bioware website set all pre-orders will get the lion of orlais and fadeshear, with Chris Priestly confirming that on these boards at some point, so I would seriously like to know whose fault this is, as false advertising is illegal in the UK at least.

@ SirLogical
and what does UK-Law say about fine print? Because that was there, the official announcement had a Link to it. Yes, Chris made a Mistake with his answer, but as far as we know, amazon opted out, which is outside of Bioware/EAs Control.

They probably did opt out but at the same time did not know what 'opting out' meant in this context...

they don't have a dictionary? ^_^
i'm not blaming either for the misunderstanding. I just expected them to either do something to solve this or give a proper explanation. Amazon had at least a month where they were fully aware of what happened. Chris gave us the response from their EU-Team. Amazon gave us automated responses and empty promises.
