I loved Mass Effect and I simply was amazed with Mass Effect 2 during the amazing play-through of Mass Effect 2 I found myself wondering how fun it would be to be combining the tactical genius of not only myself but one of my friends as well.

Allowing me to provide sniper cover while one of my friends rushes up with a shotgun to enjoy some up close time with some of the baddies. Anyways just a suggestion, take from it what you will.

You've either read the stubtle art of trolling article or missed the fact that Mass Effect is Shepard's story and not Shepard and randomguy's story.

I didn't mean make the 2nd player another Shephard, I was thinking more along the lines of giving the 2nd player control over one of your squad mates. My apologies for not clarifying.

Mmm... I get the feeling I know who you are.

But whatever. I wouldn't mind seeing co-op or multiplayer. Besides a while ago, some pages from the invisible part of the forum (the one for mods and developers) got leaked and they strongly hinted to co-op and multiplayer.

And how exactly would coop play work? The other player just stands around twiddling his fingers while Shepard engages NPCs in dialog? How annoying would it be to have another player sitting there in the background telling you to "Hurry it along, I wanna get back to shooting!" while you're trying to hear what a character is saying?

Coop would not work in Mass Effect. The only multiplayer that might is a competitive mode separate from the campaign.

maybe bioware can make a second mini campaign for coop or something.

i cant see competitive mp though, with everybody vangaurd charging each other. unless bioware can balance it.

No please don't have one in ME3. If it is implemented then undoubtedly Bioware slacked off in the plot or other parts of ME3 to add a co-op instead of making the game better. this would in turn make the game as sub-par as ME2 or completely unplayable.

I agree, the plots of games suffer when they add multiplayer and the story does be much shorter, if you want a mass effect multiplayer i suggest they make a mmorpg

Fable is absolutely terrible.
Reach is a stand alone FPS title thats combat is designed to be compatible with multiplayer.
I have yet to play Brotherhood.

Gameplay is as good as ever, maybe even better...but story is meh...especially ending of Ezio´s story is messed up.
I think its safe to assume because of what it was so dull...

And how would adrenaline rush work in multiplayer??
How about the time dialation of the Infiltartors sniper rifle??
How unbalanced would it be for the Vangaurd to charge you before you even got to scope him??
How useless would the cloak be when you can actually see the target as a blurred area??
How useless would the Adept be using biotics against real people who will manage their regenerating shields better?

I think multiplayer is best kept out of Shepards story. They would have to overhaul too much of the combat system. Remember they did this already from 1 to 2. If they do it again they will have next to no consistency between combat in the 3 games which is crap.

Yeah, this would be so great. Or when I'm taking a shot, pulling a trigger and my friend freezing the game to choose a power to use. Taking some 20 seconds. And then him freezing the game for another 3 seconds, cause he accindentally hit the button. It would be so GREAT!!!! Or when I'm pissing off the rest of my CO-OPs , couse i'm playing as a engineer and REALLY NEED to use my power wheel, when freezing the game every 2 seconds to use my powers.
GREAT IDEA. CONGRATULATIONS. YOU JUST MADE ME PLAY ****TY.Posted Image

Yeah, having co-op multiplayer really did shorten the story and ruin the plot of Baldur's Gate II. </sarcasm>

Adding in co-op would be great. Please do it Bioware. Don't listen to the trolls.

Trolls: If you don't like co-op, don't play it! For those of us that do, let us play our squad based shooter with a buddy.

You can play with your penis, with your buddy. Please do, but get your dirty hands and moron CO-OP idea off ME, please.

It's an action-RPG not a squad-based shooter.

If multiplayer is added, I guarantee the story and singleplayer experience will suffer for it. There are far too many instances of this occurring.

I don't mind if ME franchise goes the way of multiplayer...as long as I can finish Shepard's story first.

But they'll probably do it anyway because it's EA.

Why are you insulting people for having a opinion? who knows co-op; maybe a good idea some people in the past has thrown around the fact that ME would be a good CO-OP to pvp online CO-OP. there is a difference.

I'd hate to see co-op or multiplayer. Mass Effect is one of the few remaining games that hasn't hopped on the bandwagon and added it simply to live up to the status quo. Putting co-op in a game like this almost always means that they're taking away development time from the actual single player experience. I'm sick of getting games these days that are sketchy and unpolished because they've taken the time to introduce some half-baked multiplayer.

Yeah, because every Bioware multiplayer game has had a terrible story and singleplayer experience, right?

Wait... no.. that's wrong.

Mass Effect is a squad based shooter. There's really no reason for it not to have multiplayer.

Co-op is not a universally bad idea. However, for a game like Mass Effect, it is a VERY bad idea. It was created to be first and foremost a single player game. Players are not so much playing a game as much as they are playing an interactive movie. If people want multiplayer ME3, then petition Bioware to make ME3 much more open to modding. Sort of like Counterstrike emerging from the Half Life 2 engine.

I don't mean to insult anyone at all, I really don't, but if you think this game should have multiplayer, you should perhaps check to make sure you're actually playing Mass Effect. As people have said, all of the time dilation skills, all of the dialogue, and so forth do not fit at ALL into a multiplayer game. It just doesn't work.

ME3 should be all about the story of the Hero or Renegade that saves the universe from total destruction, not multiplayer. And, it's not like they have TONS of time to develop this thing, the more time they spend on multiplayer, the less time they have to develop the single player. In fact, I really really hope there is NOT any sort of multiplayer in ME3, I would like them to develop Mass Effect 3 to it's penultimate form. I would be willing to wait another agonizing year if it means the difference between a rushed ME3 and a fulfilling one.

Perhaps the OP is serious and you are the troll? But really I dont know why people are so against an optional co-op mode, Shepard already has two people following him at any time would it really be so bad to let a friend control one of them?

But with all the information we have so far it looks like a multiplayer feature of some sort will find its way into ME3.

I think the issue here is still that there are many aspects of ME3 that are incompatible with any sort of multiplayer, such as (like we said) the time dilation, any dialogue at all, cutscenes, and so forth.

If there will be some sort of multiplayer, it could just be something that has little to do with the story or shepard at all.

co-op would be so easy to introduce to the game
especially through xbox live
the joined member of the game would play as one of your squad mates
not have the option to pause gameplay, but just hotkey powers
and not help dialouge choices
this would be a way bioware could easily put co op in the game without changing anything in the story or gameplay for the main player
