OK so I love Mass Effect and have played both games many times. I have a bit of a problem. I lost my 360 Collector's Edition, and now I want to buy a new (standard) copy to play. I recently was given a PS3, so I'm unsure which version to get.

Pro 360
--I have one finished save file for ME2
--I have many finished save files for ME1
--It would be cheaper
--I have the Collector's gear
--I have the Inferno armor
--I have the Blood Dragon armor

Pro PS3
--Better graphics
--One disc
--ALL DLC FREE, I didnt buy any of the pay DLC for 360
--I would predict that ME3 would run better on PS3, or atleast be on one disc.

I'm not sure... you got multiple ME1 savegames and it's cheaper on 360.

But the PS3 version is basically an improved version of ME2.

I really don't know. I'd wait a bit first and see how much superior the PS3 version is.

If I had to pick, I'd pick the PS3 version if you still remember ME1's story well. Don't rely on the comic for a recap, it has a lot of inconsistencies.

It depends on how much you want ME1 to be incorporated into your canon.

Buying the 360 edition and all the paid story DLC is still probably cheaper than the PS3 version, so if you're a completionist sort I'd say 360.

If you've already played both games, I'd go for the PS3 version simply because it's superior.

ME2 is what..about $20 for the 360? If you're planning on getting all the DLC it should come around to the same price as the PS3 version.

Every single DLC, I think it comes out to around 33 bucks, that all DLC. Did not include the avatar packs... didn't even know they had em.

The only thing that should matter is the import feature. 360 Version + all DLC is +/- $52 so it's wrong to say DLC on the PS3 is free. It's included, not free. Big difference.

Different websites have different results when it comes to graphics comparison. From what I've seen PS3 has better shadow effects but worse facial textures.

I would say go with the 360 version again since you have import data, and it is cheaper. Your already used to the controls as well.

The 360 version is selling for less than $20.

Could always wait for the 360 "ultimate edition" with all the DLC...or buy it used and then get all the DLC (if you haven't played it yet, don't know what your missing - particularly LOTSB was awesome). No matter what you will probably be out about the same amount of money in the end.

Another alternative...try like hell to find that lost copy of the game!

I'd say go for the PS3 version, but that's just my opinion.

Not that asking this question here will really help you, most of the people here don't even own a PS3 and defend their own platform.

I would say: go with the 360.  You can get ME2 (on 360) for $10-20 dollars (check sales on different stores.  I have seen it for $9.99 at both Amazon and Walmart during special sales).  You can get it for the PS3 for $60-$57 (plus, you can get a $20 video games credit for buying the PS3 on Amazon).

DLC costs included in PS3= $24.00  (Keep in mind, these do go on Xbox 'Deal of the Week' sometimes)
[Kasumi-560MS points ($7.00 USD), Overlord-560 MS points ($7.00 USD), LotSB-800 MS points ($10.00 USD)]

Big drawback for the 360:  Terminus Armor/M-90 (unavailable for 360 currently, but will most likely be offered for a fee or with future DLC--but that's pure speculation). No BlackHorse video comic (though, that may be offered in the future.  We don't know).

Big drawback for the PS3:  Choices in ME1 are not included.  Though we don't know how it will impact ME3, I would like to think that there will be many interesting tidbits from ME1 carried over.

I can't tell you what's best for you.  If I were you, I'd ask myself this:
1) How much do I want to see my ME1 decisions carried over?
2) How much does switching discs bother me?
3) Which controller do I prefer to use? (I like the triggers on the 360 better, but other prefer the PS3's shape, etc.)
4) Would I rather pay $34-44 for ME2/DLC or $60-57 for the PS3?

To me, it's all about ME1.  I'll stick with the 360 (even though I do own both the PS3 & 360).  But, as D.Sharrah said, I'd wait for the 'ultimate' or 'game of the year' edition.

The ps3 version, bro.

If you play the game for more than 3 hours it will RROD and burn your house down.

Plus, we got a better port.

My PS3 YLODed on me twice.

I had some really terrible experiences with the PS3 and 360, hardware wise.
My Wii, PC, PSP and DS or any other console I still own have yet to break.

Sure it did. I'm pretty sure you were taking good care of it.

Yes, I take care of my stuff. Can you now stop acting like a fanboy? It's a bit irritating.

Wow you do have a tough choice. I would just pay for the DLC and get the 360 version considering you played ME1.

Are you sure you don't mean an ME2 save will pay off when ME3 comes out?  That would be great if they combine bonuses from ME1 and ME2 but I don't know yet if they're going to do that.

I would say ps3 because it doesn't have quite the overheating issues the 360 does I guess, plus it's a more updated version.

ive never had a problem with overheating lol. pretty sure its not the games fault if the xbox is overheating.

also, i meant having a me1 save carried over to me2 will hopefully pay off in me3, worded it pretty badly lol
