This class seems to be pretty weak! Any tips welcomed cause im getting my arse kicked!

Also considered to not saved Ascension, Save the Collector base and so on. Trying to play a ruthless sentinel with a strong sense of duty for the alliance and the humanity that he holds high. But "in character" wouldn't it be pretty bad for a sense of duty guy to screw the council over?

Is this a new game or an ng+ and what difficulty are you playing on ? Tech armor is your puppy so get points into it asap. There is penty of advice in the me2 character builds forum and plenty of videos demonstrating peoples playstyles for the sentinal. There are plenty of choices for bonus powers also which can improve the sentinal even more

ME2 Sentinels take time to mature. I can't speak intelligently about playing an ME1 Sentinel.

If you're interested in playing an ME2 Sentinel effectively, invest heavily in Tech Armor and your passive skill (Defender) early on. Evolve Tech Armor into Assault Armor and Defender into Guardian. Take advantage of your rapid cooldowns to refresh Assault Armor and fire off Warp bombs (bring Jacob, Jack, or Samara/Morinth for solid Pull support).

Sounds good. Im playing through ME1 at the moment and my ugly face sentinel gets a beating now and then. So the tech armor thing sounds needed.

What little I've heard of Sentinels in ME1 is that they are not that great. Still, that probably only applies to higher level difficulties. Just know that ME1's beginning segments are generally harder than the rest of the game. Later on you will be able to take a lot more punishment.

Oh sorry didnt realise you were talking about me1 it wasnt in your post. Tech armor is a me2 power for sentinel....

If were talking me1 then its a different story altogether Dont waste points in paragon renegade probably chose bastion over medic when the oppertunity arises. barrier is an awsome defensive power

True the sentinel can be a bit weak in me1 in the early part its best to pick teammates with more survivabilty Wrex is my all time favourite along with either garrus or ashley. your main role will be more of a backseat type role you have plenty of cc options as well as good support.

Ah Sounds good! Im doing "Let the sky fall down" right now, right of Citadel. Maybe bit to early.

Sorry for being bit lacking in explaining it was ME1.

No problem just wondering if this is your first me1 playthrough or not if it is youve picked maybe 1 of the harder classes to play they deffinatly get better at higher levels when you have more points to spend.

I recommend you put [Mass Effect 1] in this topic heading, also you should roll with Wrex and Liara/Ashley, IMHO as an ME Sentinel.

Do you plan only one play through to Import into ME2? Because I also recommend checking out this thread by Simbacca http://social.biowar...1/index/5628294

My first mass effect 1 playtrough on insanity was with a sentinel. I was Rolling with wrex and liara all the time and it was pretty darn easy. Wrex refuses to go down with his massive armor and immunity! I had chosen medicine to get neural shock. That skill is really helpful against a charging krogan!

I am planning to use this guy in Mass Effect 2 aswell to have a renegade play through :)

I was considering not to use Wrex this time but I guess he be good to bring, him and Liara. First time I played as a solider so it was rather easy,

Went much easier in the end when I levelled my Sentinel a bit. But god how boring they turn in ME2 with only SMG and pistol that has three mags...

My suggestion for an ME2 Sentinel is to push through the first recruitment missions to Horizon, and after Horizon, do 5 non combat missions to unlock the DCS. Once you have a shotgun and Assault Armor, the Sentinel is a beast.

I like to play sentinel. I tend to think most usable abilities are overload, warp, tech armor and stasis. Overload and warp can remove any protections fast. Tech Armor is everything you need to keep alive. Stasis is a good bonus power for situations where something powerful rushes toward you (like YMIR).

In Mass Effect 1 the sentinel was even better. Having bastion talents means you can still hurt the enemies under stasis (Mass Effect 1 final battle is a lot easier with this). Good Mass Effect 1 bonus talent is Assault Rifles (needs assault rifle achievement before starting sentinel play through).

Oh yes, I had the Assault rifle achievement from my soldier so it was so much easier smack up Saren with a Spectre class Assault rifle. Feel bit naked without it in ME2 and bored as hell sitting with a low ammo pistol and ****ty dmg sub machinegun.

Yeah, being a non soldier class, gives you the chance to chose between shotgun training, assault rifle training and sniper training. Unless you already got training in one of those weapons(Like vanguards can already use shotguns, so they get the chance to chose only AR or SN or take the Claymore as bonus weapon)

Disabled Collector Ship. Once you get there, you can choose a bonus weapon type (shotgun, assault rifle, or sniper rifle). The concensus on these forums is that the shotgun is the best choice, especially if you have the Geth Pulse Shotgun from the Firepower DLC. The reason for the shotgun is because it allows you to get in close to enemies, which brings into play the knock down/damage effect that goes off whenever tech armor is broken.

EDIT: Folks are so quick today! You guys beat me to it!

I see. I was pretty "what the heck was this pick for" when I got to pick on the soldier. Thought I removed a old weapon and replaced it! :P

Sadly dont have the Firepower DLC! =( its not a part of the Cerberus Network is it?

Thanks for the news you two!

It's not. However, the Eviscerator is also a very good shotgun, and I believe that is part of the Cerberus Network.

Yes! I think so!

I guess I go for shotgun. Although wont help me much with end boss? Krogan shotgun is only for Krogan I presume. Eviscerator we go for.

Done Mirandas and Jacobs loyality missions now. Guess I don't have that much left to do then. Could do some Hammerhead missions maybe or poke in with Liara doing the Shadow Broker agent hacking quest.

You can get the Krogan shotgun if you play a Soldier or Vanguard, but the only way to get it on other classes is to hack the coalesced.ini file or using Gibbed's save editor. And you are correct, shotguns are not the most effective against the final boss. However, the Cain can make that fight much shorter, and the Eviscerator does work better than other shotguns at distance. I would suggest the Hammerhead missions for getting to the DCS quickly.
